Morning /g/

Could you redpill me on 120hz-144hz monitors
>>
The benefits are minimal compared with cost. If you suck at 60Hz, you still suck at 144Hz.
>>
Morning /v/

All i know is you don't need that monitors if you don't code as fast as sonic
>>

Quickly move your cursor in a circle. You see those gaps? Thats because of your shitty 60hz refresh rate. Running at higher refresh rates reduces those gaps meaning there's more information per second.
That's just your cursor. Now imagine a full screen application running over twice as fast. The extra smoothness and information make games significantly more enjoyable.
Gaming is objectively better at higher refresh rates with no downsides.
>>
>>60882351
There's also adaptive refresh displays, but fuck explaining the issues with those displays on my phone.
>>
>>60882481
Permitting that your hardware can actually push an fps to match, which can get expensive, and won't make you any better of a player. You'll just see a smoother simulation of yourself dying.
>>
poorfag here, got used to 20-30 fps, then my gpu died so i bought a radeon hd 3870 like half a year ago
now fraps reports ca. 45 fps in games like Test Drive Unlimited and I consider that butter smooth
I guess 60-75Hz must be perfect and anything above is overkill
>>
Just decided to play a video game on my bed laptop this morning and 60 Hz no longer feels smooth enough to be bearable in FPS game after getting used to 144 Hz on my desktop
>>
>>60882528
Playing at 144hz definitely makes you better. Not skill-wise, but it 60hz is a limitation that's hampers you compared to other other 144hz players

This is why I never buy high end monitors, so I don't get used to the high end and be forced to buy expensive stuff for the rest of my life. Same for everything audio.

This actually makes sense. Going from 144 back to 60 would literally be worse than going from 60 back to 30 if you do the math.

Yikes~

>>60882838
I think you need to redo your math
1/144-1/60= -0.00972
1/60 - 1/30 = -0.01666
The change from 60 to 30 is greater than 144 to 60.
>>
They make motions appear smoother.
>>
It's a straight upgrade

You'll probably notice, most likely.

Problem is if you don't want to spend too much the quality will be obviously worse. I have an old 120hz monitor and putting it beside my new one makes it look retarded.
>>
>>60882664
Low ping will always be better than a faster refresh rate. Just saying so.
>>
>>60883432
Low input lag is pretty important.
>>
>>60882351
invaluable. sadly no 5k with it
>>
>>60883432
And this is relevant how..?
>>
>>60883432
In order to reduce ping, I need to move. In order to get a faster refresh rate, I just need to buy a new monitor.
>>
Do you have a graphics card that can reach above 60fps? Do you like watching porn at a high refresh rate? If so, its completely worth it.
>>
>>60882351
Played on a 144Hz monitor and didn't see a differences.
Can't be the only one right?
>>
>>60885327
You play on a 144hz monitor at 60hz then retard
>>
>>60885327
The best way i explain it to people is that if you're playing at 60 fps and drop 20 frames, that's a lot more noticeable than 144fps dropping 20 frames
>>
>>60882351
144hz is a meme look at your pic it literally creates artificial ghosting.

Just stick 60hz or 30hz if you can.
>>
>>60882351
Smooth cursor
>>

High pixel density > IPS > high refresh rate

unless you're a gaymer of course

You're the only one
It gets unbearable once you drop below 180 fps
>>
>>60883250
you retarted bro?
144 - 60 / 60 --> 1.4
60 - 30 / 50 -> .5
>>
>>60882351
Look at all the extra ghosting on the 144hz monitor.
>>
>>60885327
same
