I just put freebsd on an old nettop I had laying around. I would like to use it but I can't get it to recognize the intel wireless card I put in it and so cannot connect to the internet to get the rest of the things I need set up.

How the hell do I force it to find and use an intel wireless nic?

Wizards assemble !

Advanced users of GNU/Linux (and I mean advanced), remember to try Source Mage GNU/Linux. True source-based distribution, and (in contrast with Gentoo and Arch) is:
Free from obfuscated and pre-configured code.
Fully committed to GPL, uses only free software (as in freedom) in their main package.
With even the documentation licensed as FDL.
Without 3rd party patches, sensible defaults or masked packages.
Doesn't need obfuscated python libraries, only bash.
Uses clean dependencies as they came from upstream developers, which by the same provides instant updates.
Can heal broken installs.
Can also use flags.

Do you like Arch Linux's AUR? Do you like Gentoo's portgage (or ports-like) package manager? With SMGL's "sorcery" you get all that. Making new spells (packages) not found in the grimoire (repository) is easy http://sourcemage.org/Spell/Book

Bash hackers welcome! Come and join http://sourcemage.org/

This thread is for the discussion of NyaaPantsu (pantsu.cat), a free (FOSS) torrent indexer, and other nyaa alternatives.
The aim of this project is to write a fully featured nyaa.se replacement in golang that anyone will be able to deploy locally or remotely.

>Why is Pantsu down/error 502?
Most likely because the team is deploying changes. Wait for a bit and refresh the page. It should be mostly stable now.

FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD all include instructions for obtaining nonfree programs in their ports system. In addition, their kernels include nonfree firmware blobs.

Nonfree firmware programs used with Linux, the kernel, are called “blobs”, and that's how we use the term. In BSD parlance, the term “blob” means something else: a nonfree driver. OpenBSD and perhaps other BSD distributions (called “projects” by BSD developers) have the policy of not including those. That is the right policy, as regards drivers; but when the developers say these distributions “contain no blobs”, it causes a misunderstanding. They are not talking about firmware blobs.

No BSD distribution has policies against proprietary binary-only firmware that might be loaded even by free drivers.

non free.

need a quick bit of instruction here.

ive just rebuilt an old alienware that was given to me. in the process of doing so, i had to replace the PSU because the alienware PSU was too large to fit in a normal ATX midtower. the PSU i bought was: https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/100-B1-0700-0600-0500-0450.pdf

the motherboard itself is: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T_Deluxe_V2/

for the CPU power, it has an 8pin eatx 12v connector on the mobo, but the PSU has 4+4pin atx/eps 12v connectors (pictures coming).

can i just do pic related? if i plan to OC, moving forward, will this be a problem? leaving power pins unpowered like in the picture feels totally wrong to me, but if it works, it works.

otherwise, is there an adapter to take the 4+4 and convert it to fit the 8pin on the mobo? i took a quick google and i saw some 4pin+molex to 8pin adapters, but ideally id like to use the 4+4 that is already in place.

Im getting back into gaming and I'm gonna build a cheapfag PC. The two options I've narrowed it down too are either getting a used Dell optiplex 790 with a i5 2400 and just putting a 1050 ti and 4 more gigs of RAM
Or
Just building a new PC with a Pentium g4400 and a 1050 ti

Both will cost about the same. So which would you choose? And if I did go with the optiplex is the TI's 40 dollar price increase worth it over the regular 1050? Or will the old i5 bottleneck the slightly more powerful ti anyway?
