Do side crunches help you get curves, or get rid of your curves?

I'm a girl and trying to get a flat tummy, but still keep my hourglass shape. I heard conflicting arguments on whether side crunches help or get rid of your curves. What's the truth here?

When at the gym I was told doing weighted side crunches makes your curves go away, so I stopped doing them. I still do all my other ab work, but I don't know whether it's necessary I cut this out of my workout or not.

I've been eating next to no carbs simply to cut my calories low and still get enough protein but this whole ketosis thing doesn't sound healthy. How low can I go with carbs while avoiding ketosis?

this is what I've been doing for 18 months now and the exact mindset I've had but for the first time I'm in a situation where I drastically have to limit my carbs to keep my calories negative.

I've heard conflicting things on keto diets and I'm not really asking if it's effective or not. it doesn't sound like a healthy state to keep the body in. though I have to admit I never feel hungry anymore.

About two years ago I started the process of weight loss, I was able to get from 310 to 185 throughout that period. I now however, have loose skin, primarily on my stomach. Is there a natural way/ method to tighten this flab, or is surgery my only option? Its affecting my posture and my spine is curved towards my belly in an unnatural way and I want to solve the problem. Any advice/ suggestions MUCH appreciated.
