If I have a sagging roof lining like the image, and I mix up some fibreglass resin and liberally roll on, will it stick the lining to the roof and set hard?
Or will it just break and go crusty?

I think the real name for that is headliner. Pretty sure the best way to fix it is to pull it all out, then glue new foam and fabric back up. I'm sure there are numerous YouTube videos on this exact subject.
>>
>>1149970
I'm trying to obtain a hard resin finish, I smoke and therefor it wont smell as bad as raw fabric.
>>
>>1149972

You are mistaken. It will smell just as bad and look like garbage if you do it the way you're describing. If you want to do it right, you'll take the time to pull it out. I imagine you'll regret it if you don't

Hey dudes, quick question, how hard would be doing some like pic related buckle from scratch without a milling machine? The material I would be using would be a 10mm copper plate.

I have a drill press tho and various types of files. thanks.

>>
>>1149915

Not hard at all, since it has no critical dimensions to it. It'd take a while (although perhaps not as long as you might think), but it's perfectly doable freehand.
>>
>>1149915
Jeweler saw. With a pretty decent blade.
Drillbit id say 6mm. A course flat file. And a fine flat file. Various bits of sand paper.

Extra might help. A set of needle files.

Might take you about 5 hours to complete..

I know it has a lot to do with the doer's competence but do you think it's possible to achieve any decent symmetry? Also will copper start to "disintegrate" over time?

What kind of drill do I need for these pesky bastards?

No, it specifically has to be a HILTI™ SF 10W-A ATC

Wtf do i make to get on top of this train and ride it to the next low hanging bridge anons.

I make only 2 promises.

Nothing will be build from pallet wood or be buried in a shipping container.

3 promises on the assumption someone helps out here. Op will deliver.

So I just purchased 10 acres of forested land with a large, shallow swamp on it and I plan to use it for a paintball course for my buddies and I. It's butted up against the 11 acres I currently live on. I have a 10x10x50ft. wall of brush between the two lands, and after clearing out the new swampland the wall will be even bigger. With all this brush i want to chip it all up and fill the underwater areas. If i were to do this would I want to mix it with dirt or would the chips be a suitable groundcover on their own?

I also have a ton of pallets that i plan to use to build pathways through mud. I know these can have bad chemicals in them and the swamp drains into the local river, would the pallets and chips cause any problems in the ecosystem?

>>
>>1149293
Don't worry about the pallets

How wet is that swamp? I've seen that kind of land take tandem after tandem to get it semi-solid, doubt brush chips will do much
>>
>>1149297
Thats not my pic, ill take one when I'm home. Its basically a large oak and ironwood forest thats been flooded from agricultural drainage, so the non flooded areas are still really solid with patches of mud here and there. I did some rough math and I should be able to fill the foot deep flooded areawith about 2 feet of chips, but it you're right, it will probably settle into the mud a lot
>>
>>1149293
Best way is to dig trench for the water to flood and collect into...

I live in florida and this is how they do it.. That or a small pond. Basically give water somewhere to go and it will go there.

How do I install wire fence?

The bit to the right of the purple line is brick wall, and to the left of the other line is wire fencing down the bottom, but I've got a 9 metre gap
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
If there's not already a post, install one. String fencing through post. If the holes in the fencing won't go around the post, attach with wire. Unroll fencing (if it's rolled) to post on other end, repeat.

Be sure your posts are seated into the ground well, and stretch the fencing as best you can. There are tools for this, but if it's just a simple garden fence you should be able to get by with your hands alone.
>>
>>1149131
Why are you letting grass grow in the seams of your tile patio? Seriously op, it takes 5 minutes to pull that shit out and clean those seams with your hose there. And if you want to do it right, refill those seams - those plants will destroy your patio before too long it's better to do it now.
>>
>>1149178
As for the wire fence, I wouldn't put one in there unless you are trying to keep your dog in. If that'd the case looks like you'll need 4 posts - just drive them into the ground and at equal distances and affix the wire to them. I prefer those nice big wooden posts, but that won't look right if they're only in those sections. I prefer to NOT cement the posts in because then it's too hard to move the post if you need to after it settles.

Also put your shit away, you can't leave the bike and world's-worst lawnmower out in the rain.

Anyone into smartmirrors? Its my current project.
the infopage is written in html/css/php. I know there are systems like mirror.os but that would be boring. after finishing the rough setup like software part, ill build a decent case and add a half-mirror to it. opions?

Bumping for interest. I don't know much about them, but I'm planning on making a smart mirror in about a month or two.

Do I need a special type of mirror? I was thinking of tying it to the light switch in the bathroom, how long does it take to boot?

I don't know if this is the right board for this or not, but here's my question:

How would you go about removing the adhesive on something like this? I believe it's a heat based adhesive, although I'm not 100% sure on that.

My plan is to attach a couple of neodymium magnets to the back and sticking it to my fridge or something.

>>
>>1148255
Is it plastic or metal. You could try acetone on a rag if it is metal.
>>
>>1148263
I believe they are chrome over ABS. Don't know about the paint on the front.

Honestly, it would be easier to cut a magnet sheet to shape and sticking it on, but I want the neodymium strength.
>>
>>1148255
brake cleaner/engine degreaser will dissolve just about anything organic like that adhesive.

I have an end table that i want to replace with shelf storage, its made of nice solid wood although the finish is absolutely ruined and i want to strip and re-varnish it so i can sell it.

My problem is i live in an apartment and i have no permanent working space, i can take it outside to work on but i cant leave it out there.

Any advice?

FML. bought a house two weeks ago, the ceiling was a bit shitty, so due to the houses age, I sent a sample off for testing. 2% asbestos in the popcorn. what do I do? I've read about the procedures for removal, but I could also apparently just paint over it and pretend it was never there. professional removal is out of the question, as it costs way too much. previous homeowners affidavit says they have no knowledge of any asbestos presence. (probably true, they were basically retarded)

what would /diy/ do? I really really don't want mesothelioma.
46 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
take a soft brush and slowly brush it all away

eventually, you'll have no asbestos in the ceiling
>>
Soak the shit out of it with water and delicately remove. Basically avoid any dust and you'll be fine.
>>
Or if you're flipping the house you could just paint over it and move it. Don't think it'd hurt anything desu

For years and years I've been using a spade in November to break up my soil, letting winter rain and frost break the huge pieces into smallish bits that just needed some rake work in spring to be ready - just like my grandpa and my father in law

Now my in-law is 74 already and used this as an excuse to say "fuck that shit, I'm too old to break my fucking back with the spade each year".

So we both pooled 250 Eurobucks and bought us a McCulloch MFT85 tiller (Briggs & Stratton engine).

Tilled last weekend, let the soil dry and tilled again yesterday. Now the fucking soil is as fine as sugar

The good old "why the fuck didnt I buy this thing years ago"-feeling

How does /diy/ make their soil ready for spring?

Vid VERY fucking related

I plant small explosive charges about 12" below ground level. Cover the area with a tarp about 2/3' above the ground level propped at 4 corners to stop debris flying everywhere. Then leterip.
