Given what we know of domestication patterns and genetic engineerrng, and experiments with Russian foxes in the past, a good marriage of advancing scientific technology and safe exotic pet interests would be to create domestic or pet-safe alternatives to many creatures.
Designer racoons, teddy bears that only get as large as retrievers, etc.
Agree/disagree?
>>2476415
Yeah, can't wait for horrifically crippled 'baby' horses, decorative limbless cats and goldfish without assholes so that the owner doesn't have to clean the tank.
>>2476433
Hey better we make life then take life in to suffer for that ambition.
>>2476497
Because animals gestated in a lab or shat out by genejack factories are worth less than those born innawoods?
I've found this dog in granada, spain. Its only 3 months old and we are trying to identificate the breed and someone take care of her. Any help?
Dalmata with something maybe?
Try and find a Facebook group for dog homing/recue in the area rather than calling a warden or taking it to a shelter.
Most shelters they are put on 21 day kill lists.
Hey /an/, I'm planning to get a doggo, but I'm not gonna do it until I feel truly capable of taking care of it, since I never had to care about a dog in my adult life. Can you suggest to me the best book or site about dog care and education? Something exhaustive, modern, no bullshit.
Pretty please?

YouTube.

This, you cant get any better than readily available instructional videos.
Guys, i need your help. Can you dump your folders and post pictures of the pleistocene? Pls, only megafauna from europe and or asia, thanks.
You can post pictures from an ice age or interglacial as well.
Bonus points for muskox, Bison or wooly rhinos.
Thank you guys so much!
>this rhino in cold climate
is it real life?
>>2476323
its Coelodonta antiquitatis, so yes
Is having an ant farm ethically defendable? Like, is it okay to hold ants against their will between two glass panels for the rest of their lives where they are unable to form a real colony?
Also, are they unhappy?
they're just ants, anon.
>>2476286
Ants have no concept of happiness. They only care if a nest is suitable for them and their brood or not.
But these classic ant farms are antiquated shit that aren't really great for keeping ants. Something like pic related is much better.
or this
My cat finally died
Are you happy now?
Will you get another?
Of course I'll get another, my Toxoplasmosis insists on so.
I have seen a lot these family vlogs channels lately, I just ignore them for the most part. But then I saw this video while watching pet videos. From what I could tell these people are the usual shitty, clickbaity content you would expect.
I looked and thought it was about a boy losing his pet Bearded Dragon, I have one myself so I thought "why not?"
After I watched it I was shocked by what I saw. These people had no knowledge of how to care for the animal, and they had their little spoiled ass kids take care of it. Watch the video and see that the lizard was too skinny and likely died from starvation and neglect.
They tortured a animal to death. Dislike them and let's kick them off youtube
Dude, there's like 4 people on this board
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>2476156
Done.
But it will not kick them off Youtube. Their low quality content didn't.
I felt sick at the sight of their thumbnails, I watched a few minutes of this shitty vlog. I'm not a vlog guy, but damn that's the worst "popular" channel I've ever seen (worse than most Top 10 channels, yes).
The worst thing is that they KNOW they are awful pet owners. But their shitty channel is centered around the family concept, and in their mind, a family must own a pet.
Kids allergic to dogs, too dumb to keep a cat at home or a bearded dragon alive. Stick to plants FFS. When you'll keep an orchid, then try goldfish or guppies.
lost a close friend tonight, raccoon thread please? thank you
Does it actually enjoy that? I don't want to say something is cute only to find out it's one of those slow loris tickling situations.
I'm sorry, anon.
Is my border collie pure breed?
Do you have AKC papers?
No then it doesn't matter

>crocs
>non-white
>photo taken in what appears to be a real life Fallout location
I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you've got yourself a nice mutt, OP
You need to show us a clearer photo, silly.
hey, anyone else in the mood for a civet pics dump?
sounds like something i could go for right now
>>2475944
Have some of these
>>2475944
I heard they make really shitty pets. They require lots of socialization and at most they'll bond with 2 people, but that's a big maybe. And even then they're still assholes. So let that be a warning to anyone considering them as a pet.
Redpill me on Toxoplasmosis.
I have no clue what it is but I keep hearing it.
I'm ready for the truth. The whole scientific truth.
Or is it just some meme?
Why does this board get so fucking triggered by outside cats? Cats love the fucking outside
>>2475898
What did he mean by this?
I want to adopt a Shiba Inu puppy for $1100
is this a bad idea? I hear they are a pain in the ass but I don't mind
>>2475740
Get an akita instead senpai, they're cooler than the japanese Corgi and will get you laid.
But 1100 depends on where you live.
They're difficult to train so I wouldn't recommend it if you're a first time dog owner.
If a shibe would make you happy and you think you can handle one, sure.
>>2475744
i live in wisconsin so they're pretty rare here, my mom knows someone who knows a shiba breeder
there is an akita shelter nearby with a couple of Akita's up for adoption so it's a good alternative, cheaper too, I'd have to talk to my mom about getting a dog that big though
>>2475750
It'd be my 5th dog
Dog is shitting blood all over my house, it's just leaking out without her wanting it to I think. What should I do? Should I just put her down? She has to many problems and she's a suck dog anyways. Sick of cleaning carpets
>>2475666
take it to the vet, satan
>>2475681
You gonna pay the 500 dollar bill?
>>2475687
>a grown ass man can't afford $500
It's a bait thread anyway.
Post the most obscure animals you have come across. The most obscure animal I've seen is the banded palm civet.
Pic related.
>>2475594
Poisonous frogs arent that rare, but they are freaking cool desu
Falanouc.
Any fellow leopard gecko owners out there?
>>2475593
yes, but you'll have better luck starting a conversation in /herp/ tho
yes
what substrate do you have op?
Are these easy to raise / maintain? Looks pretty cool.
