Redpill me on Miami, /trv/

I'm strongly considering moving there. I'm tired of living in the north.

Id visit before moving. Ive been there and i like it but its not for everyone

If you speak Spanish you'll love Miami or Tampa

St. Pete/Clearwater is nicer, cleaner and cheaper

How is the job market?

Hey /trv/ I'm planning to live in a hotel. Is there anything I should know before going throughout with this? Pros and cons? I'll be traveling a lot, so I want to become accustomed to living in a hotel.

Well my dad pretty much lived most of his life like that, because of his job.

I don't know what's your exact reason, but first, try to sign up with a loyalty/reward program.
You'll get free nights at 5 star hotels quite easily.

I lived in a hotel for 4 years during my childhood. This inspired me to take up tourism as my career bc we lived in a Caribbean hotel. I loved that hotel so I want to take up a job at a hotel and live in one bc I loved the atmosphere
>>
why not airbnb instead?

you can have a kitchen, that's nice

Where can I go as a solo traveler?
I did my first experience as solo traveler a week ago.

I think cities with big metro systems are best for a single traveller.

Or maybe its just me and my hatred of riding the bus

Amsterdam/Netherlands

Good transport system; people are friendly, helpful and speak English

Will I be able to survive in Spain with my current level of Spanish?:
Hola. Voy a viajar a España este verano. Quiero hablar con los españoles.
Me quedaré con una familia anfitriona y quiero comunicar con ellos. Algas familias no hablan inglés. Piensas que esto es posible? Puedo sobrevivir en España con mi nivel actual de español. Muchas gracias.

If you speak as you write you'll definitely do more than fine. Unless you go to deep Andalucía or Galicia

Spain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The tourist sector is full of English speakers. You'll be fine.

>go to only one city in a state/region
>act like you've experienced the whole country
Do any of you guys do this and if so, why?
Even in small countries/US states there are lots more experiences that are outside the big major attractions. Don't get me wrong, there's still plenty to do in the city, but please tell me at least that I'm not the only one skeptical of things like the "where have you been" map threads.

I admit, it annoys me when people critique how a whole country is, or how it's people are, after only ever going to the tourist areas.
>>
As somebody who lived in the US for a year, I honestly don't think most US cities are that different.

I thought all Americans I met were friendly enough to foreigners and didn't notice any huge cultural differences

Yea so I've decided I don't want to have a career or be a wageslave (no offense to who decided to go the corporate way).

This means I need to find alternative ways to make money. My past professions :
-Shit jobs like administrative helper, etc
-poker player for 2 years
-muay thai and jiu jitsu teacher (not a black belt in any of them, though I'm good at teaching)
-whoring in chaturbate

My next stupid plan is to go to Asia (China or Japan, maybe Cambodia/Vietnam) and find a "White guy job", such as fake businessman, fake teacher, I'd even fuck some uggos if pay is fine.

SO, I need ideas on where to go and what to do. I've started raising money (I think 2 or 3k dollars is fine to start?)

But OP why don't you do this at home?
1. I wanna travel and widen my view of reality and the world
2. Brazil is poor, so not much money to be made here as I'm just a normie
3. My life has stalled a lot lately, living with parents, etc

I can post pics to prove that I'm not a neckbeard fatty or a fake.

And to clarify I'm a dude and 22 years old

>My next stupid plan is to go to Asia (China or Japan, maybe Cambodia/Vietnam) and find a "White guy job"

Well, you're right about one thing -- it is a stupid plan. "White guy jobs," as you call them, disappeared a long, long time ago (and when they did exist, they were extremely rare). Fake businessmen get beaten up and/or put in jail, fake teachers get fired very quickly, and nobody pays men for sex except for desperate gay men. IOW, enjoy your AIDS.

After months of work I'm flying to Alaska! Decided to live there a while back and so here I am finally in the airport! Today is the day! I plan to set down my roots and never move again! I'm so excited and this seems to be the board for this topic! The lines are so long here!

Good for you OP and post about your experiences here from time to time. Also, don't get killed like that guy who moved to rural Vietnam.
>>
>>1109329
Fairbanks or Anchorage? I'm in Fairbanks, if you want to smoke out, I'm going to the airport to pick up my friend Boe at 11:30
>>
>>1109329
Wow never saw a line in Anchorage, even at TSA... interesting. Must be fairbanks?

Anyway, have fun OP. Get yourself a 4WD, and befriend some dudes to take you fishing for some salmon, halibut, hunting, flying and all the goodness that is Alaskan summers.

If you just want to live somewhere cheap? I had eyed some pretty places for sale in Seldovia last visit that were gorgeous!! I just live too far for a vacation home there.

Going interrailing soon and want to know if you guys think it is safe in Turkey at the moment with all the shit going on.

TL;DR if I go to Turkey, will I die?
17 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
It's safe, but stay away from crowded beaches.
>>
Several European countries recommend NOT going there unless it's for some urgent matter.

Right now Kurds are pretty pissed, and it's also where Western ISIS recruits transit through. Pretty much not the right moment to go.
>>
>>1109270
Who the fuck gives a shit what any country thinks? It's all politics anyway. And I'm curious which countries would actually recommend "not going".
>>1109269
What?
>>1109267
Turkey is 100% safe. I didn't know it was a big interrailing country though, as most people use busses or fly from city to city. Are you planning to do the route to Tatvan/Van? If so, I can only recommend the Van lake and the wider region. Incredible scenery.

>Following thread. Planning a trip myself. How do I find a hotel?
The usual, from airbnb to halfprice to tripadvisor. Just decide if you are going to drive around (you should), and then pick your neighborhood based on what is convenient for the drive or not drive plan.

OP, as far as Mia Bch is concerned, lincoln road is your central spot really. Use the "New Times" on all the restaurant and store newstands to know what is going on where on any night. Use yelp or eater or thrillist to rate your restaurants. Miami has always had the highest per capita phone use, and techies like those sites and use them well.

Is there a place I can safely stow some light luggage in New York near central park for a few hours?

Staying with a friend but I'm on my own til she gets off work at 5. I don't mind paying some money.

back in the day there used to be lockers in grand central.
this no longer exists because terrorists win and nyc is a police state.
the only places that do this that i know of are outside the baseball stadiums (not near central park) and only right before and during games.

i dunno
google "goddam locker near central fucking park" and you might have something

So are you in the Marines or the Navy? Just curious. A better question would probably be what are you in to? Where are you from? Can better give suggestions that mirror your interests
>>
>>1109089
In the Marines, from California, I like hiking, going to the beach and sight seeing, wouldn't mind jazz clubs or live concerts
>>
>>1109090
Marine here as well. Well you can get some hiking, but be forewarned, it won't be the hills you are used to in California. There are some good trails on base, and plenty through the Croatian National Forest, including the 20 mile Neusiok Trail. I will post more when I transition from a mobile device.

Have any of you /trv/ellers done the Big Balkan Roadtrip? I'm planning to do it this year and I wanted to know your opinion.

- How was it? Did you like it?
- What about the trip was the best, and the worst? Did any kind of inconveniences happen along the trip?
- Which advice would you give about things to harness the most during the trip? What about things to avoid doing?
- Are the Balkans affordable? How much did you end up spending overall?
- What are good souvenirs to purchase? Did you end up spending money on other stuff you needed along the trip?
- Which meals were supplied by the hostals, and which are not? (I have yet to find this information)
- What other advice about comfort aspects would you give?
- And finally: was it worth it? Would you do it again?

You don't need to answer all the questions at once. Thanks in advance.

I'm from the Balkans. I can't answer your questions right now as I am not home but I'll get to you when I can.
>>
This time last year I took a trip starting in Central Europe and travelling through the Balkans as far as Montenegro. It wasn't a road trip as such because I didn't have a car, but I did travel by bus so maybe there are some similar aspects. It'll be easier for me to answer specific questions based on that, but I'll try to give some answers to the general questions you listed.

My favourite places were Plitvice Lakes in Croatia and Lake Bled and the Vintgar Gorge in Slovenia. Both really beautiful, if a little bit touristy. I regret not going a bit further into the Julian Alps and exploring Bohinj National Park, as it looked just as beautiful but way less busy. Had no major inconveniences at all, everything ran very smoothly. Making sure you have a general plan in advance (leaving room for flexibility, depending on the people you meet) is a good idea in my opinoin. Do a little bit of research to plan for some places to visit, and also go with the flow and allow other people to show you places.

I'm from Newcastle, so feel free to ask away. The nightlife is very good, and there are lots of great pubs. The area of the river is really pretty, with some nice bridges and some of the architecture in the centre is nice, especially on Grey Street. If it's your thing, there's an art gallery called The Baltic which has a lot of modern stuff (sometimes it's good, sometimes it's shit, but it's worth a visit). What else do you like, or what else would you like to know?

Hey everybody, I have a question for you all and for everyone who likes traveling. I'm an Italian student and this summer I'm going in the USA for a month to study English and have some fun.
So far I can decide if going to LA or to Santa Barbara. I'm more likely to choose LA but I'd like to hear some opinions. Also I'm 19.

inb4 LA hate.

Santa Barbara is much smaller than Los Angeles. If I were you, I'd go to Los Angeles to get a bigger taste of the US. There much more landmarks to visit there.
>>
I'd do the Bay Area
San Francisco to be exact
