I'm looking to go to Canada over the summer. Any recommendations on where to go for a good week and a half trip?
What do you like to do? Do you want cities and night life and tourist shit? Or do you want nature and hiking/camping? Really beyond Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver no cities are really worth going to for long.
>>1109748
Honestly I'd like to experience a bit of both. I was considering Vancouver but they don't have a lot of good ecotourism around there. Is there any place there with some good city stuff and culture along with some ecotourism?
>>1109748
>implying Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are worth going to for long.
>separated out my vacation at work
>have 3, week long vacations
>plus there are 3 long weekends in the next 4 months
is a long weekend enough to visit a city?
I live in Canada, and was thinking of traveling to the US. what are good cities to visit for a week? any suggestions?
i have no friends, so what cities are best alone?
>tfw was thinking of going to Florida
>coworker told me he loved disney world
>i'll be traveling by myself and remembered that they don't let adults in by themselves
i was thinking of new york. i've heard good things about the cronut. but tbqh, i don't even know what i'd do. just visit the landmarks? any good hostels in the US?
>>1109102
Hostel culture is not the same in the US as abroad, admittedly I am not a hostel fan, period, but I definitely don't recommend it in the US. I am pretty sure you can get into Disney World by yourself, I know you can get into Disney Land in California by yourself. Long Weekends are enough for me with kids, but solo, I'm not sure, but there is nothing to say you can't visit again. You don't have to see everything in one trip.
Week long Cities:
NYC
D.C.
Boston
Hampton Roads Virgina/Outer Banks NC (same week)
What is cronut?
>>1109105
thanks
i may have been wrong about disney world
will take a look at those cities
a cronut is a cross between a croissant and a donut. invented at some bakery in NYC a few years ago. i don't know if it's still popular (pic related)
Bump
Any other good cities to visit, any must do/see things?
Some of the national parks look cool, but Ive never been camping. Afraid I'll get lost out die or something. Haven't even been to algonquin, here in Ontario, Canada
Alright lads, going to Venice for 4 days, one week from now.
Don't have anything else planned other than visiting Murano and Burano on Sunday because the museums are free.
What should I see/do/can't absolutely miss?
I personally enjoyed a lot wandering through back-alleys and the less crowded streets. Apart from that it depends on your interests. I was really interested in the medieval history as well as the relics (specially the Byzantine ones). Some people are interested in museums, others in food, it really depends on who you are
Take a stroll around the city at night, when it's not a crowded hell.

Venice is fine but its nothing compared to Florence imo that might just be because i live 1hr away and see it all the time but 2 days in Venice is enough. you can catch a train for 50 euro to Florence or Rome from Venice menstra
Hei f@m, I`am gonna be the whole day in Trondheim tomorrow and have plenty of time to do stuff but I do not know what. Any recommendations or pesonal experiences?
Visit this castle
>>1108543
>cathedral I mean
And also this accompanying palace
There's other stuff to sight see, but when you get done with all of that, it is a college town, so hit up a couple of pubs
Sup, /trv
I wonder what are you people's fav YouTube travelling channels. Last indication on this board was Rick Steves, but his videos are pretty boring.
Don't know if it counts as travel related, but there is a Singaporean guy who posts some really great videos of North Korea.

This guy's channel is pretty good, also.

Why so many dislikes and comments disabled?
So I'm planning a road trip from Houston, TX to Otto, North Carolina.
First time doing a trip like this. What should I expect?
Also, post your general road trip experiences.
Things to do en route.
Things worth deviating for in South Carolina, Alabama or New Orleans
Essentials for a trip like this 16 hours +detours and pit stops, I'm shooting for 20 all said and done.
I'll be staying in a cabin for a week then driving back. My new wife will be my co-pilot.
>>1110843
Go through Tennessee desu. The entire state of south carolina is a empty shithole besides charleston
>>1110849
Anything good in Tennessee? Any regional food I should try or silly landmark?
>>1110853
Pigeon forge/gatlinburg has theme parks, go carts and other touristy stuff and going through Tennessee means youll get to see the smokey mts. up close.
anyone had experience traveling in india?
I know it's a bit vague, but I'm having a hard time gauging the different ways of traveling, I keep getting bogged down with landmarks and shill articles

Yeah.
I've been to India six times since 2013 and lived in New Delhi for about a year and a half.
If you have any interest in going, I'd recommend taking the plunge and hopping on over. India is a magnificent country with a lot to offer, so far as cultural and natural diversity are concerned. Having said that, I will throw in this caveat - it's not for everyone, and I can understand why. As a presumably white tourist, you will meet people day in and day out who try to cheat you, scam you, or otherwise use you. You will find sanitation to be very lacking in some locales. Needless to say, there is a lot of poverty and a lot of people, and the combination of those two factors isn't always pleasant.
If you can deal with a minor amount of physical and psychology discomfort, and are open to dealing with a culture that's quite dissimilar from your own, you will probably enjoy India. I don't say that with the intention of bashing those who do not - we all have our own preferences and tolerances. In my brief tenure working in the Delhi tourism sector, I did find that most visitors I came across were enjoying themselves and really felt like they were on an adventure.
I am obviously pro-"go to India and see for yourself." I'm a pretty young guy and the time I spent there really left a mark on me - I think I have more friends over in Delhi than I do here in the States. I found India to be especially endearing and rewarding when I came back a second time and burst out of the tourist bubble by getting my own apartment and working. The honest and decent people there, whether educated or not, are some of the best and most kind you could ever hope to meet.
Barring a nuclear war with Pakistan, you should go to India if you have an interest in it, and I would take that same advice and apply it to almost any destination short of places like Syria.
Pic from close to where I was staying in Noida in January/February 2016.

Have you been to Pakistan? I want to go see all the Sufi shrines and old mosques there and if possible go see the old citadel of Peshawar.
Hi there im from Bolivia, and lately I've been thinking about studying for my college degree in Australia. Actually im searching for a career related to cattle breeding and i heard that Australia breeds are similar in my country. Can someone help me answering some of this questions and giving me some advice?
- Is life there expensive?
- Which university can you advice to me?
- It'd difficult to make friends?
- How's night life?
- Which state should i live?
And finally if you can give me any advice that would be fantastic.
Thanks!
Can't answer your questions, but you may want to ask /int/. A lot of Australians are on around this time, and they're usually pretty helpful when it comes to this kind of stuff.

planning a trip and i want to use hostels (to meet people, and it's recommended by so many people), but I have been known to snore loudly.
what do?
get a private room at the hostel
>>1110576
none available
>>1110602
Then go ahead and book your hostel anyway. And proceed to have everyone hate you right off the bat. Wtf were you expecting to get out of making this thread?
so, I'm from mexico, and i'm moving to vancouver for a master degree at UBC.
any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
i mean about cell phone carriers (someone told me mexican plans are even cheaper than canadain's), where to rent, where to NOT rent, and stuff like that.
thank you in advance.
In Canada you can't shoot anyone or start a cartel. So don't do that.
>>1110495
oh well.. how should i spend my blood money?
>>1110492
What are you studying, and what is your budget?
Vancouver is the most expensive city in NA. Like Manhattan is more expensive, but it's not an actual city itself. I grew up around the red circle, new houses there sell for 3 million +.
There's only 3 big carriers in Canada, they're all kind of shitty, bring your own phone and local calling for $40. Not much of a difference between prices and quality. You're best off using whatsapp and skype a lot on wifi. If you can, get shaw cable for your apartment, so you can use their free wifi spots which are everywhere.
Where to rent really varies based on your budget. Can you say how much you will pay up to, whether you're ok with roomates, how you will commute and how long of a commute you can handle. You can be a 30 minute bus ride (bus is free as a student) for $800 with a room mate.
Has anyone here tried WWOOFing before?
Thinking it could be a good way to travel while saving money. What does it involve? And what are the areas you're in generally like?
Bump for interest/ someone educate me
Not personally but I have a friend that did it in Israel and she said it was a great time. Her experience was waking up before dawn and working until early afternoon than had the rest of the day to herself. Free bed and food, really nice set up if you dont mind putting your back into it.

I'm not big on slave labour mate
how do I get into traveling? I want to solo travel somewhere in Europe for a few weeks (I was thinking about starting in the Netherlands and move on from there), but I don't really know how to start approaching this.
For example, how much money should I prepare? Are there any shots I'm supposed to take or something? Should I worried about something like Insurance? I have zero knowledge in any of this.
>pick a country or series of counties
>pick a route with the help of rometorio, Google maps, etc.
>decide how long you want to spend at each stop and what you want to do/see.
>research lodging and make reservations if you're traveling at a peak time, or like to have everything planned in advance.
>research the cost and logistics of inter city and intra city transit.
>Add up all costs and make cuts if you need to.
>buy flights
>check the CDC for vaccines and other health warnings.
>Pack your bag and figure out your gear list.
>study the language of where you're going.
>Depart
>>1110266
Damn. you make it sound so simple.
>>1110267
Even the most complex projects or endeavors can be simple if you break them down into their most simple parts anon. Also, Europe is basically easy mode for traveling, the infrastructure is so good. Just be prepared for everything to be insanely expensive unless you're in E. Europe.
I'm almost done planning a 5 month trip around Asia starting in late July and easily the most difficult/frustrating factor has been the level of indecision from my travel companions.
Hey /trv/, I am looking for advice from anyone who has experience with name discrepancies on different documents in regards to immigration procedures.
I am from the UK, I have a French father and British mother. I have a French first name which is spelled with an e with an accute accent (é). On my British passport, I was unable to have the é in my name, so instead had to spell my name with a standard e. On my French passport I obviously have the é, likewise on my French record of overseas birth. Strangely I also have the é on my British birth certificate as well.
I am about to graduate from university and by Friday, I have to decide wether I want my name on my diploma spelled with a standard e or a é. I would rather have the é as this is the correct spelling of my name.
However I am worried as apparently immigration authorities often want the name on your diploma to directly match the name on your passport. I am planning on emigrating a couple of times before settling down and will need work visas for these countries, which will obviously ask for a copy of my degree. I am going to use my British passport for these work visas abroad, so would it be best to just spell my name with a standard "e" to avoid any confusion?
I have heard some horror stories about people being denied work visas for things as tedious as having a middle name on their passport, but not on their degree. (This was with Korean immigration btw, which is where I plan to move to teach English this summer).
>>However I am worried as apparently immigration authorities often want the name on your diploma to directly match the name on your passport.
Then use your French passport for that?
>>1110157
I can't as I want to teach English abroad. Many countries, like South Korea where I want to go, require that you apply for the visa using a passport from a native English speaking country.
I eventually plan on settling in Canada, but even though my conversational French is pretty good, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing a visa application in French.
>>1110160
Never had this problem so I can't help.
My suggestion is to get in touch with the immigration office of the country you want to apply, explain your situation and ask how to proceed. Probably better than getting advice from /trv/
Or check if you really can't get a UK passport with your name written with é
I'm going to Norway with family in the summer, specifically a sojourn in Oslo followed by a couple of weeks in the western fjords.
What can I expect? Any tips for getting the best out of Norway?
If you want to get the best out of the country, you should visit the north as well.
Also, there's no need to spend any more than a day in Oslo. There's really not much to see except for the Vigeland park, the royal palace and maybe the opera.
You can also expect very unpredictable weather. Especially on the west coast. Don't be surprised if it rains the whole time. That's why I'm glad I live in Norway, as I can travel whenever the weather is nice.
Oslo is a expensive city. I was there for two days and spent over $150 USD on 4 meals (no alcohol).
TusenFryd is the only legit amusement park in Norway and is in the Oslo area. I'd check that out if I was there.
Hi
I am looking for people who already traveled to France.
I would like to know what business or concept you discovered and really liked in France that doesn't exist yet in the US ?
Thanks in advance
Why should I give you my business ideas for free? Such as they are, it's smarter for me to hang onto them.
Good luck though.
>>1109301
The Minitel is a fantastic French invention that will make a fortune for the lucky person who brings it to the US.
>>1109301
I'm a French who travelled to the US, if you'r interested ?
