OP, how do you plan games when any combat is likely to leave several player characters dead or crippled?

Tick tock breaths a sigh of relief, to tired to say anything as he grabs the cup of tea and takes a long sip from it as the waters of chaos start to buckle and bend, slowly coalescing together, looking more like some odd purple slime or torn and broken flesh.

"So is the abomination almost done cooking?" Lovely blue asks with a wire grin, her new limbs covered in heavy bandages and leather straps to hold them in place.

Since the new meta for this edition looks likes lets give everyone on my army cover saves while ignoring everyone else's. As a Necron player how would built your army to counter that? I was think of blast marker cover ignoring 3+ armor Tomb Blades and Flamer Destroyer Lords and lots of Wraiths. I think using cover is still your best bet but that's move to get the other guy to burn tokens than for the cover save.

Also, is running a Destroyer Lord solo the best option for the model and then making it almost impossible to kill like a 'harassment Carifex' or do you have other good build ideas for the DL?

“At least get our nom de guerre right, fuckface.” Hiru glared coldly towards the last man left standing. It seemed to unnerve the small time delinquent quite a bit judging on how his face contorted with discomfort. It was rare to see Hiru with an expression that wasn’t either tired-looking or happy in some way; it increased how threatening he could look to those who were unused to such an expression of disgust. “I’ll remove your useless, lower appendage, and beat some respect into you through the opening it’ll leave behind.”

Hiru’s threat was enough to make Siscon-guy make his first attack with the chain, and he swung wide in a horizontal arc in front of him. Hiru had planned for such a thing and ducked down to avoid it. The chain cut through empty air as Hiru dashed beneath the iron links of his foe’s weapon, and drew a fist back to strike hard at his opponent’s stomach. It was going well, until Hiru got close enough to be struck by Siscon-guy’s foot, as he kicked in reflex at Hiru’s sudden counterattack.

It connected solidly against his shoulder and Hiru was pushed back a few feet from the impact of the blow. He was able to keep on his feet for the next few seconds; that is until the chain had done a full spin around the delinquent-wannabe and struck him hard. It was almost a direct blow to his face, but he was able to react in time to block it from that, though it was still a direct blow to his forearms as he raised them to either side of his face to shield it.

The chain hit and with the momentum of the swing wrapped itself around his head and arms with the impact. He could feel it coiling around him, and was unable to act in time as Siscon-guy pulled the chain tight, wrapping it around his arms and head. With a tough yank, Hiru found himself propelled forward in a jerking fashion that led to his body falling forward. He was completely prone now, and it seemed like Siscon-guy was taking full advantage of that.

“Name da gir or not, I’ll teach you to lay hands on sis! I’ll teach you to lay your hands where they don’t belong!” Hiru was trapped blind as the chain bound his arms over his face and eyes; it left his entire body open to assault and he soon felt the pains of Siscon-guy’s kicks against his back and sides as he tried to get in as many hits as possible.

While Hiru was under assault, he kept aware of the situation. He could feel the tension lesson on his bindings, and endured a couple more hits afterwards in preperation to reverse the situation. With a swift roll out from under Siscon-guy’s stomping it left his foot crashing down further than he’d expected, and unbalanced him. Continuing his roll, Hiru freed his head from the chain before Siscon-guy could recover and used his roll to pull the chain free from his hand.

All it took was a single moment, and now Hiru was on top.

He used the momentum of his roll to swing his legs outward and spin himself into a kneeling stand. Siscon-guy’s eyes went wide at the realization that in the moment he’d stumbled his grip lessened on his chain, and now that very chain was in the hands of his opponent. His mouth hung open in terror, releasing a silent scream of terror as Hiru approached him, that fake smile mixing and intertwining with whatever malice lay deep within his psyche.

“N-no! S-stay back!” He tried to back away for an escape, but found his path blocked by the nook under the stairwell. He’d been encircled and trapped to a place where there was no escape. It made sense to the delinquent-wannabe why Hiru was smiling. He’d reached checkmate, and there was nothing he could do. “I-I’ll kill you, seriously!”

“Kill me? With what? I’ve got your sister. I’ve got your weapon. I’ve got your pride. I’ve got -everything- I could ever need to destroy you completely and utterly.” Hiru unbound one of his wrists and begun to spin the chain as S
iscon-guy had done before, though with a noticeable increase of finesse. “Repeat after me: ‘Red String Leech’ and ‘Golden Lion’.”

For those just getting in:

This is a Dungeon Keeper style Civ Quest. You are the disembodied consciousness of a relatively new Keeper, on a quest to conquer as much of this unexplored continent as you can manage. Your traits are as follows.

You are Colourless. With no natural connection to any of the five Colours of Magic, your ability to use spells is practically nonexistent. However, you compensate for this with a greater attunement to artifacts, including your Dungeon Heart; possibly the most powerful artifact known.
You are a Master Alchemist. You can convert Mana to Gold with perfect efficiency... and since you don't have much use for Mana anyways, you generally store all your Mana as Gold. You can also convert Gold into other useful resources; it's not terribly efficient, but you can transmute Gold into anything you need.
You are a Geomancer. You can tap the natural Mana of Lands by building Obelisks at key positions; this gives you a reliable income, and increases your territorial control.
You have Minions. You can create golems which are decent fighters, but exceptional workers; they are able to handle many construction and mining tasks in a fraction of the time conventional workers might.
You are a Sorcerer. Your magical abilities are self-taught, and you have little use for the tomes of conventional magicians. You don't benefit much from studying books; any progress you make in your abilities will be by testing out new ideas in the lab.
You have Ascended. Your soul is bound to your Dungeon Heart, not your body; you have a god's-eye view of your entire territory, and you can use your magical abilities anywhere within your controlled range. As an artificer, this has less to do with spells and more to do with device control; you can be a fearsome trapmaster, or puppet your golems as you would your old body.

Those things are all considered "very rare" for frequency of appearance, while things like bandits, goblins, and ogres which require heavy armor to counter are considered "common" or "uncommon".

Because they're stats would never be high enough to dodge a wizards spell ray demons touch attacks regardless.

And armor doesn't affect reflex saves anyway. And either way they'd take half damage.
