This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

It's been a huge pain in the ass for me to even get 3-4 people together on days when no one works, and it's been at least 2 weeks since our last session. Do you guys have similar issues?

Also ITT: I've been playing CoC, should I try D&D? I grabbed a bunch of 5e shit from a thread awhile ago but never read any of it.

With players of working age you will have trouble scheduling regular sessions. About every other months is what my players manage.

In the US you will certainly have an easier time finding players for DnD than for CoC. The question is what kind of players are going to show up. Beer & pretzel games are easier to set up than narrative character stories, people can wind down for a few hours of combat encounters instead of cranial exertion.
>>
>>43079493
I don't have a huge selection of people to play with so it's more or less going to be the same people playing so it's not like they won't come if it's DnD or vise versa. It seems like there's a lot more work that goes into setting up a DnD game though.

Seems like there are a ton more rules and setting up an adventure takes longer. I've only ever played CoC so it's not like I can compare the two.
>>
>>43079560
DnD is cluttery. There's detail rules for every greedy player and they don't follow any inner logic while also being distributed over countless splatbooks. The game is much harder to get into than BRP and chargen can take sessions while only delivering combat stats.

That said, setting up an adventure is much easier because all you have to do is present somewhat balanced combat encounters for which there is a rating to compare. You can just take a map, put loot and monsters in every room, and tell the players the treasure is down there. You don't have to know fuckall about the story, NPCs, or any secrets they might be having. Just keep rolling dice and dishing out drops.

But I'd rather look into mixing it up with games like Dread, Don't Rest Your Head, or Monsters and Other Childish Things. If you want Fantasy look at Runequest, Torchbearer, and Reign. DnD lives off of marketing, not quality.

Off the top of my head, there's an old Official WWF RPG from the early 90s, Know Your Role, Squared Circle, Wild World Wrestling, World Wide Wrestling, Kayfabe, Luchador, splats for All Flesh Must Be Eaten and HERO System, and probably some others too. What exactly are you looking for?

>The local lady is actually an old Silver Dragon posing as an elven woman. She is obssessed with the aesthetically pleasing and frequently spends too much on overblown festivals she can attend in mortal form. From the shadows she intentionally manipulates the socio-economic and political state of her lands to produce heroes and villains, subtly working them against one another and intentionally making every encounter as dramatic as possible. She does this entirely for entertainment and to make her lands seem like some sort of legendary crucible where stories are forged.

Special Mode: The party, upon entering the lands are decided to be "villans"

What sort of adventure hooks occur?

No.
I'm sure that she would instead use her draconic magic to set up an elaborate tournament with the money she spends on the festival for wannabe heroes in a sort of mass LARP-ing, once she got the cooperation of nearby governments of the nations she wants to draw on..
Like a Tournament of Heroes taking place once every ten years.

As for adventure hooks:
>One character has been mistaken for an actor caught up in a role involving a love triangle, and the actors only drop the facade in private.
>The silver dragon bribes one of the characters to stir up emotional turmoil in the party in exchange for an item of great value.
>One of the NPC actors accidentally gets affected by magic and actually believes he is the character he's playing.
>A bunch of no-gooders rob a shop while the festival is going on.
>Everything's fun and games until a real-life grudge comes to a head during the tournament and people are actually in danger of dying.

So far the only Wolf-Blooded in my werewolf game that's gotten any attention(that I know of) is a friend of our Rahu, an actor on a soap opera-type show filmed in the city we're in, who wants to fuck a werewolf.

We've got 3 others, but so far I don't think we've actually interacted with any of them.

Is there a specific individual he wants to have sex with who just happens to be a werewolf, or is he specifically looking for a werewolf to fuck?

Hi /tg/,
I am in the progress of creating my own RPG, and I would like to implement some tabletop influences in there.
I am not very experienced in tabletop games, but I enjoy the D&D boardgames amongst others.
What I would love to know is what tabletop elements do yoy find interesting in games?
My attack for instance will be calculated by the attack/strength of a player+a dice roll(depending on the weapon) then subtract the defense (AC) of the enemy.
Of course there is a chance to evade too, and a roll that doesn't exceed the def of the enemy will count as a block.

Will it be good to use as an example;
Atk+roll-def=X damage
Or is it better with
Atk+roll-def. If hit > def = 1 damage (or 2 or etc depending on the type of attack)..

TL;DR:
>What tabletop elements work good on PC?
>What attack systems are the best?
>Is low damage throughout the game an acceptable formula?
>questions if you got them!

Pic related, working on my own fantasy world since 7 years back. Just made this base of a map.

I just found this game and I want to hear opinions on it.
I like the concept of a warhammer-like game of WWII and for what I see is historicaly acurate too.
I want some feedback and info before I dump a ton of money on it.

My friends like it better than fow for sure. Haven't played it so I can't give informative opinion.

I find the game really enjoyable. One of my favorite aspects is how units are activated by each player after pulling an order die from a bag instead of separate turns. I feel this system helps alleviate the monotony of having little to do during your opponents turn and the randomness can lead to some suspenseful situations.

So I've been looking to get my players to try out a new system, Lamentations of the Flame Princess. We've been playing 5e for a year now and my players are wholly unwilling to even consider something that isn't DnD 5e, so I'm hoping to rope them into something a bit more interesting by using a system that seems a little familiar. What do you guys think? Any suggestions for transitioning from special snowflake adventure time to A more old school "Brutal" system? Also if anyone has any experience with the system and has some tips for house rules and homebrews used that would be greatly appreciated.

>>
First, why are you trying to get them to try something new if they're perfectly happy?

Second, if it's just because YOU'RE unhappy with 5e, have you tried explaining this?
>>
>>43068099

Probably should have explained that. Yeah I hate 5e, to many options so every character ends up being this hyper exotic snowflake half dragon/elf/orc/tiefling thats also an aasimar. I've tried homebrewing the rules a bit to make it a bit more fun to play for me, I am the DM but I can have fun to right? Players don't like the changes because it makes combat and encounters harder. I feel like this is more an issue of Happiness = Reality - Expectation, They expect to be demigods and if they aren't more than that it's not fun; I feel like scaling it back a bit will help with this. When you expect to be shit all the way up to 20th level being anything more than that is pretty nice.

okay, mystery and wonder time. in this map (1), we can see talismans of vaul to the galactic north, naogeddon to the east, moon of the night mares to the west. There are also dark gates of rhidal in the centre of the map, lyriax sphere in the south and pavonis to the south-east.
ath ethon in the south. 'There can be no peace while alien feet still tread on Ath-Ethon.' nothing more, but clearly a xenos planet. also monitored by eldar, and lies within nihilakh dynasty
cursus of alganar is an ancient portal to the warp

shrine of elronhir- a shrine dedicated to the eldar hero. nuff said

on the map (2) which shows the webway gates of the eldar, we can again see the nightmare moon marked in the same location, just as the talismans, pavonis and naogeddon. all of these are marked with same rune and are a 'monitored site'. the ymga monolith is also marked but with a different rune indicating that it is not related to the other objects, or it might not be even of eldar origin. rune used is the same as rune used to mark the hadex anomaly.
in the centre of the galaxy there is infinity spiral. i guess that it is a massive infinity circuit that eldar use. it is possible that there is connection to the eldar myth of the end times and creation of ynnead. now it would make sense that the dark gates of rhidhol are actal gates, or passage to the infinity spiral (which is arked as a webway gate here, said spiral could be kept in the webway). this would explain why the c'tan have to be kept outside of the gates, but also there is evidence that there might be a c'tan beyond the gates.

map (3). gates of varl are marked near the centre of galaxy. probably the same thing as gates of rhidhol. ymga monolith is marked with the 'unknown' symbol. the same symbol is used to mark XCV-104 in the north. this location corresponds to the location of talismans on map 2

map (5). noageddon is near atun necron dynasty and is/was home of the deceiver, just as pavonis was home to nightbringer and is located close to sekemtar dynasty. lyriax is avoided by the tyranid swarm and most likely is the location of the outsider, which also is near aroptek dynasty. moon of nightmares is located somwhere near thokt or sarnekh dynasties, and most likely is related to necrons, just like most of eldar monitored sites. ymga monolith is close to sautekh dynasty which also is most powerful and most influential. the theory i have is that ymga monolith was constructed by necrons to attract the tyranids. tyranids would cleanse the galaxy of all life while the necrons were sleeping in their tombs. this would further weaken the c'tan. this would also explain the presence of ymgarl genestealers and other tyranid species encountered before any of the major hive fleets reached galaxy. if the tyranids were attracted by the astronomican, they would have 10000 years to travel to our galaxy. however they do not have faster than light travel and so , they would need much more time to travel.
in the centre you can find cocholus, which is in region where the gates can be found.
of the interesting locations on this map, there is black planet, and the well of time and seidon

Tell me, what's death like in your game?

I'm going to play Dungeon worlds soon. There's a system where you make a roll for death: you either live, die or get to live on a certain condition. I've decided I also want 3 variations of death:

>When player gets to live, the twins come.
>These are two almost-skeletal beings wearing simple farmers clothes.
>They have a nihilistic world view
>You get to live, but they will first beat you, laugh at your life and show you disturbingly true images, like how the king you're fighting for is an adulterer
>If you encounter them while you don't believe in anything, they will just throw an ethereal anarchistic party with you and encourage you to fuck more shit up

I have several Deaths.

My most classic/oldest version is Chernabog/Neith, a giant skeleton wearing a cloak of crow feathers that wields a scythe. He is one of the oldest gods along with light, time, and destruction. He is actually tied with Aurelia, goddess of the sun, for being the most powerful god. He actually controls the afterlife and usually gives the dead an everlasting euphoric dream to live in.
>>
My setting had the God Wars and Death was a harvest god before, hence his iconic scythe and common name, the Grim Reaper.

40k army idea

So, CSM based army.

Band of holy knights getting their powers from somewhere. Basically all the normal Paladin and knights in shining armor sort of idea for them. Chaos Mutations are blessings from their god, refluffed as required.

Built using Bretonnians, with a lot of very traditional knighly designs and such.

Dunno what the actual list would be yet, but that's the basic idea as it starts.

Seems a very Slaaneshi army.
They already have the House Devine, the original Chaos Knight house, were the pilots now are decadent and incestous offspring of corrupted knights and nobles.
A CSM version of that would be pretty awesome and fit quite well.
