So I bought a lot of BFZ booster packs. I usually only play casually with friends but I've been thinking about going to my local FNM. This is the first deck I've built from scratch:
Creatures
>2x Bloodbond Vampire
>4x Courier Griffin
>2x Defiant Bloodlord
>4x Drana's Emissary
>2x Felidar Sovereign
>4x Kalastria Healer
>2x Malakir Familiar
>4x Nirkana Assassin
>2x Zulaport Cutthroat
Enchantments
>2x Quarantine Field
>4x Retreat to Hagra
Instant
>4x Tandem Tactics
Lands
>2x Blighted Steppe
>8x Plains
>14x Swamps
I'm going for life-gain and hoping I can either pull a win through Felidar Sovereign or just attacking with my creatures.
Is this a winning deck? What can make it better?

I really only want to stick to BFZ cards since I have so many and hardly any Khans cards.
>>
I've had experience with the whole UW life gain allies deck and it just doesn't get there in standard. A fun deck that utilizes pretty much all BfZ cards is a blue White awaken deck. 4 halimar tidecaller and as many good awaken cards as possible. Think scatter to the winds, planar outburst, clutch of currents, etc. Also about 3-4 Noyan Dar, Roll Shaper. Really quite easy to build and is really effective. Halimar tidecaller bounces a card with awaken back to your hand when you get him in. Oh the removal you can get back...
>>
Also I'd throw in 3 Drana, liberator of malakir. And maybe 4 fortified ramparts to help you curve out your deck and help you early game.

Has anyone ever LARPed WoD? I'm just curious to hear of some experiences, the youtube videos I searched of it made it seem.... kinda strange

Just like a regular game, it depends on the players. If they're spergs, the game will be spergy. If they're drama ridden backstabbers, they're probably playing Vampire, but still. I met my GF at one, so take that as a sign that they're not always horrible.

I'm looking for 1-2 people to round out a group before we get started. If more are interested, that's fine too. The game is based on Wildbow's Worm, in a fictional city with almost entirely original characters the game can be a bit lethal, and I strongly encouraged you try your best not to die. Reply to this post or email me with questions.

Now that the Brassholes have turned you loose, yourKANT-O-CELKANT-O-CELLE QUEST: BOLLIO BADMINTONLE QUEST: BOLLIO BADMINTON first priority is Naka. You'd hoped to delay this for a bit - give her some space, some room to let the morning-after humiliation of spilling her guts while drunk wear off. You remember how mad you were when you said a little more than you'd intended to when Goto got you buzzed in his office; how humiliated and exposed you'd felt. You can't begin to imagine what Naka felt like as she sat up in bed this morning and hit her head on the hangover.

But -

- she was right.

The lie you told to Thomas turns over and over in your mind - the delphinium flare in Shigure's eyes as she struck; the signature of an abyssal's gaze. You'd denied it to his face - treason, some might call an omission of that magnitude *treason.*

But after what you saw in the cell block - the young Marine who risked his very life to save her just because he was the only one that could - you couldn't bring yourself to utter it. After Shigure's violent and final demonstration of the futility of containing a rogue shipgirl, future responses will go straight to killing.

You think of Naka's guilty face, voice thick with tears as she tells you about leaving a part of herself on the other side of the veil. An icy spider crawls down your spine and nests in your gut.

You won't allow it. There's a lot of things you can't affect, but this isn't one of them.

The dorms are quiet when you reach them, aside from the faint strains of music floating through Harder's door when you walk by. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mYBSayCsH0

Naka's room is completely silent. Hesitantly, you knock.

“Come on in!” comes the bright reply.

You open the door timidly. The hall light spreads over the bare hardwood floor and unadorned walls, lighting the lingering gloom cast by shuttered blinds. The light keeps rolling over the bare chamber till it spreads across Naka's followed a moment later by a smile so big her eyes wink shut as she flashes it, flipping you a crisp finger-V to boot. “Hello, Admiral~”

Naka's sitting in the middle of an almost empty room. The government-supplied furniture is there - a bed and a cheap nightstand - but everything else seems absent. There's no lamp on the nightstand; the bed has been stripped of its linens (which are stuffed haphazardly in a hamper by the closet) and that's about it. You see some vertical bars on the left that are slotted to hold shelves, but the planks are missing.

So I want to run a zombie apocalypse game, using the world of darkness rules. My problem is, I want the players to eventually form a society and care about then npcs. How do I stop them from banding together and treating the npcs like redshirts instead of people?
42 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Portray the NPCs like people instead of redshirts. Make them competent and capable at what they do.
>>
Making one of them look like Taylor Swift is a good start. Seriously, if they can waifu it they'll care about it, and they only need to start with one, then she can care about the rest.
>>
Something I attempted was separating NPCS into two groups "Survivors" had their own character sheets and had a unique flair.

"Citizens" were run of the mill people who may have been laborers or other simple jobs and they would reduce build/healing/etc rates at the fortress.

Losing citizenry hurt players by losing game mechanics but losing a survivor that the group liked was always a good moment.

Alright. I'm developing a chapter of sorts and its going to comprise of both imperial guard and space marines.

So, Quick! I need your best vehicles, weapons and ships for me to convert into 40K equals.

So, long story short, the party is going to soon be up against a fragment of some sort of ancient, Titan-like bad guy.

That being said, I want the players to understand that some shit doesn't work like standard in these types of conflicts with primordial beings; to do this, I want to fuck with meta-concepts like Health, stats, turn orders, and other things like that, without getting pants-on-head retarded. Ideas?

>PCs take a point of damage that bypasses all defense every interval a set duration of real time passes.
>BBEG can adjust a stat of his own if he spends time during combat doing so.
>BBEG doesn't have 'health', but instead has a pre-set number of 'hits' it can take before 'dispersing'.
>BBEG can simply interrupt, reverse, or otherwise manipulate turn-order, potentially even getting an additional turn when some real-life time passes.

>>BBEG doesn't have 'health', but instead has a pre-set number of 'hits' it can take before 'dispersing'.
I don't know what system you're using, but this could be pretty unfair to people who've specialized in delivering lots of damage with single hits, especially if something like the reverse exists in the game.
>>
>>43601047
I'm running Pathfinder because none of my player are willing to branch out.

I'm planning on throwing this sorta thing at them at first or second level; is that early enough to not be particularly unfair?
>>
>>43600910
The entity does not have a place in the turn order. Instead, he has a turn after a certain amount of time passes. This amount of time can be anything you want it to be, 60 seconds, 30 secons, even 6 seconds if you feel like fucking over your players.

I'm trying to make a setting for a potential RP, and I'd like some more suggestions and advice for me to implement. As of now, I've only got 6 things down pact that I want to keep as a main(?) thing.

1. The setting is nearly constantly raining, and when it's not it's overcast. Fog is prominent, and come winter there is snow, but not too much of it. Maybe 2 inches.

2. Every person has a sword. This sword is their name. If you die and someone picks up your sword, they take on that name. If they have more then one sword, the two names are said as one, with the initial name first until he drops one of the swords.

Ex: Brian picks up Rose's sword. His name is now Brianrose. If he trades it out or no longer has it in his possession, he goes back to Brian.

If one's sword is damaged from something other then combat, the owner is shamed.

3. I'd like an east-asian theme. I like the architecture and the weapon philosophies.

4. Magic exists, but it's highly rare. Only select few can control it.

5. I'd like it to be a dark fantasy, with monsters being super rare too.

6. I'd like water travel to be used more frequently then even horses, and travel consists of taking a boat, walking a little while, before crossing a bridge, and then another boat etc...

I'm kinda interested in basically an asian version of Berserk, compared to Berserk's Euro style.

What kind of foods would grow here?
How would the people build their houses?
Why would all the houses be on stilts? Why wouldn't they be?
How could you justify players having magic?
What kinds of problems would occur more commonly?
Would God(s) be important?
What kinds of resources would be prominent?
Which professions will be common?
How would science improve over time?
What would the BBEG be?
What are the BBEG's plans?

An answer to any of these questions would be appreciated.

Houses would be on stilts because floods. There may be a flooding season.

How do people get their swords?
>>
>>43600894
>>43601648
How can you even mine the ores with so much rain? Metal would be a bitch to get. People would probably have seriously weird diets too.

Those who control the high grounds would rule all.

How does the sword thing get enforced? Why do people carry swords so religiously? How does that work for security around important people?

Travel would just stop entirely in winter under these conditions. You'd need a lot of stockpiling. People would probably value long term planning over other virtues.

Animals would be difficult to keep. Fishing would be something everyone is involved in.

>>43600894
>What would the BBEG be?
A setting implies that you're building a world, so this is an incredibly backwards question to be thinking about when you're already very plainly have trouble with basic geography.

So you have settings that are an amalgomation of well known Fantasy motifs and concepts like Forgotten Realms, and settings that do that with Sci-Fi like 40k. But why isnt there one like that but for Dystopian fiction? Wouldnt it be cool to play a game where Oceania is at war with the Republic of Gilead and the World State?

I think something similar to this anime would be cool to run picture related. Because of the mystery surrounding the world.

If you do built a dystopian future and throw your PC's in there you have to do some of the following. You have to make it a interesting dystopian world and come up with some good ideas as to why it is dystopian and how. Like brave new world everyone was consumed by what they were doing as opposed to 1984. You have to make the world have some sort of mystery and the PC's have to uncover it throughout the course of the campaign as to how it got to the point it is now. I guess does would be some starter points. Like making it a dystopian world because the king is an asshole is a bit boring. Make it go further as to why he has to be the way he is and how the world is always on the brink of chaos if he doesn't pay some payment to something more powerful then him. One last thing to make it mysterious, make the NPCs seem somewhat oblivious to what is the true horrors of the world, so everything is urban legend.

Just some ideas and thoughts.

Also, part of the problem is that depending on when the dystopia in question was written, you'll have massively varying technology levels. Do we assume Oceania has access to computers, even though Orwell didn't write it that way, or do we have Oceania be this luddite nation in the middle of people with WAY better tech than them?

So, what happens to Dark Eldar that you pod or Companion (the Incubi companion from Commoragh, LoT DEldar Companion) once you move on?

Their connection to Slaanesh is either severed or time stopped, but now that their soul isn't leaking out by the ultimate hedonist, would they be a little less sadistic and less likely to go too far? I mean, they'd definitely continue for a while, just because years of habit and conditioning, but they wouldn't literally NEED to act like, well, a DEldar.

Could they be changed? Would they be willing to change?

I guess what I'm saying is 'how do you rehabilitate a Dark Eldar into something that could function in a reasonable universe and society?'

Are there intresting monsters that are basically human (or demi-human) but infected with something magical or similar, other than lycanthropes or vampires? I'm trying to write an adventure for my group, and it's going to have a murderer who's secretly something monstrous, but I don't really want it to be something so overused. It'd be cooler to have something a bit less common. I just can't seem to think of any off the top off my head.

What other monsters would fit well into a supernatural killer adventure where the killer is pretending to be an ordinary person and has to be exposed? Bonus points for something unconventional that would really surprise the playes and their characters. No points for suggesting doppelgangers.

Other than non-Voodoo zombies, there's a few I can think of off the top of my head.

>Cult of former humans who, due to exceptional circumstances or their own free will, consumed human flesh. Over time, the consumption to feed exclusively on human flesh began to corrupt them, and their desire for flesh overrode any and all other personality traits they may have had, and the residual magic of their actions and their surroundings turned them into silent, barely-humanoid creatures of the night, who despite their ferocity and inhumanity still retain a large amount of their cunning and intellect.

Alternatively,

>man who has been possessed by a particularly insidious demon. The demon grants him charisma, power, strength, and intellect, as well as great health, but at a price - he must kill a specific type of person whenever the demon demands it be done. While this is usually at a specific intervals and in a specific manner, the demon can make those demands at any time, and they must be complied with in a reasonable time frame, or else the demon will full-on possess his body, turning it into a horrific monster and casting the mans soul irreversibly into whatever particular hell your setting has with no hope of resurrection. While the demon takes the long-game approach, and feels it can sate itself better by siphoning off a little at a time over a long period rather than a brief but hyper-violent existence, it has no problems killing the man - after all, he can always possess a new body.
>this man will most likely be a well-liked and upstanding member of the community, with a great many people who love and depend on him.
>>
Yes, obscure folkloric monsters that impersonate humans.
