“He didn't get it.”

Hate raises an eyebrow and slouches a little harder against the wall. “No shit, Sherlock. He wasn't even a fetus when it was filmed.”

“But it's a classic!” you protest.

“Classic piece of shit.”

“You fucking philistine. The camera work in that movie was fantastic. That was some goddamn *art,* you knuckle-dragging simian.”

“Skip, it was a *Marine.* Just because it says 'Navy' on our paychecks doesn't mean we're into the whole made-up sadomachoistic gay sex thing, okay?”

“Yeah, Marines always top in their gay sadomachoistic sex fantasies.”

“Ahem.”

You both turn to find Admiral Thomas's secretary glaring you down. “The admiral will see you, now.”

Hate raises his hand like a kid in class. “Oh, me, me!”

You give him a lidded-eyed Look by way of response.

“For Speaker For the Dead!”

The secretary tilts her head to study Hate from beneath her eyebrows. “BOTH of you.”
Hate lowers his hand, face blanking as he processes this. “It's YOUR fault!” he decides, stabbing an accusatory digit at you.

You try to slow your pace subtly, but Hate's onto you, easily concealing his wiry frame behind your bulk. With a sigh, you stride into Admiral Thomas's office standing as tall as you can - you can't see this ending without a good ass-chewing. Even in the most favorable light, you deserve several.

Admiral Thomas and Goto are both sitting behind his desk, peering at his computer screen in wonder. They both flick an intense, scrutinizing look at you, then back to the monitor.

You and Hate both salute crisply. “Reporting as ordered, sir.”

“Sit your asses down,” Thomas instructs, eyes still riveted on his computer.

You and Hate share an uncertain glance, and sit.

Admiral Thomas pins you to your chair with a keen look, then begins reading aloud from his monitor. “Presuming him unfamiliar with Western martial arts, I executed a false lunge. Thinking me fully committed to the attack he sidestepped the line of attack, captured my weapon with the off-hand and countered. Blocked this with off-hand to his wrist, headbutted him to gain time and dropped my sword. Took control of his knife arm with the default krav maga counter and used his blade against him, pushing back till we went to ground. At this point he ceased to offer resistance. After checking the immediate area for further threats, I contacted base security and reported the incident.”

He falls silent, turning that penetrating look onto you again. You shift eyes to Goto, but he's wearing the same expression. In desperation, you glance sidelong at -

- for fucks sake he's the LAST one to be giving you that shit!

“... sir?”

“I know I asked for an After Action Report,” Thomas says slowly, “but this...”

“......... sir?” you repeat at half the volume.

“Rear Admiral Settle, last night you *butchered* two experienced killers - with a *sword*,” - he shoots a look at Hate - “and you wrote it up attack for attack like you were describing weapon releases after a surface action.” He leans back in his chair, still studying you. “Doesn't that seem odd to you?”

What if, a race of mushroom people that releases their spores upon death. The more glorious the death, the more spores they release and the farther they spread.

This race produces a very large number of paladins.

How well could a completely abstract and narrative health system work?

I've always thought damage and pain tolerance aren't exactly quantifiable.

A small dirk could give you nothing more than an injury no worse than a papercut or stab your eye and kill you instantly.

Fate does it well enough for me. Stress is only a measure of how lucky/skilled you are at avoiding the real damage before you get shanked in the ribs with a stiletto, which is modelled through consequences.

Only problem I have with it is that it doesn't do instant healing well.

Not too hard to add in. Someone on rpg.net suggests:

>From Legends of Anglerre, the Minor Healing spell will heal blocks of stress 1 for 1 depending on how many shifts are generated. For Major Healing, the difficulty of the Consequence to be healed is equal to the amount of stress it deflects (2 for minor, 4 for moderate, 6 for severe, 8 for extreme). Success means that it downgrades the consequence by 1 time factor (Extreme heal like moderate, etc.). I would still make the requirement to change a character aspect for an extreme consequence necessary.

After declaring his intention of calling a summit of the five Kages, the Raikage quickly shoos everyone out of his office before you can got another word in, claiming that he is very busy. You currently stand outside of the Raikage's office doors with Tsunade and Bee.

"I can't really blame him for being in a bad mood, all things considered." Tsunade says. "But I don't think this was necessary."

Tsunade looks a bit haggard, but more than you would think from just the fight and treating everyone. Bee meanwhile, has his arms crossed and is tapping his fingers to his elbow nervously.

"Aw naw, this just ain't right." Bee starts. "Those guys got Yugito way too easy. I want to help put these Akatsuki guys down, but no doubt bro's gonna have me locked down for a while. I probably ain't going nowhere."

"It's a reasonable reaction." Tsunade responds. "We can only hope that by the time of the summit, we'll be able to put together an ultimate countermeasure to Akatsuki. We'll head back to our village once everyone's recovered enough, and start preparing."

"I hear you yo, need some time to make a plan." Bee goes on. "I'll lay low til then, and we'll take a stand. Most important thing right now is staying out of their hands, right?"

With a nod from Tsunade, Bee says farewell and leaves, claiming that he's off to enjoy his freedom while he can, and Tsunade heads back toward the hospital.

You prod the corpse with your foot, nudging the robes further open. Where you had expected to find a wizard was instead a tall and slender creature fashioned from white wood. And not bolted or hinged together either, grown together as if it had seamlessly emerged from the earth this way. It is humanoid in basic shape though one of its arms ends not in a hand but a staff-like growth. It is faceless and once you pull the robes all the way off, sexless as well. A mockery of the human figure but without any of the details.
Needless to say, this is probably not Old Bart. According to Eugene, it’s probably the work of a spirit of some kind but you don’t know how good of an explanation that is, considering that he arrived at it by process of elimination.

Behind you, Hiss seems to be trying to boss Eugene into spontaneously developing more knowledge on the matter. You can understand her frustration, having been denied a soul that had already escaped her once.

You are Siegfried Schmidt, a former guard from the city of Morsland. Due to various circumstances, you have become the new wielder of Galadriel, a holy sword which houses a powerful six-winged angel of the same name. Now you have come to the White Watchtower, a fortress close to the border between the Forsaken Lands and the kingdom of Iseria, to train with the crusaders so that you can protect yourself from the demons that might come after you now that the sword is in your possession.

Shortly after arriving in Iseria's capital you ran into Lord Bernadotte, one of the Councilmen and Erika's father. He then asked that you meet him and Captain Laurentius at the palace to discuss matters relating to the upcoming meeting. For the most part, however, it felt as though you were just there to listen, as Lord Bernadotte discussed ways to sway the vote with Captain Laurentius. He did however warn you to be careful what you do and say while at the capital, as the opposing councilmen may try to twist your words against you. A while later, while you were lost and looking for the city's guard post, a stranger offered to give you directions. As it turns out though, the strangers true intentions were to lead you somewhere quiet where you were ambushed by thugs, whom Leviathan has discerned were hired by someone to attack you. They proved to be of little threat to you, however, and the guards arrived shortly after, with Nerillian in tow. As it turns out, Nerillian was visiting his daughter at the time, who is one of the city's guards. Upon learning what happened, Nerillian escorted you back to the palace, to report back to Captain Laurentius.

Captain Laurentius was, to put it lightly, not happy to hear about what happened yesterday. The first thing he did upon hearing about the attack was gather the Honor Guard together and pointedly chastise them for leaving you unaccompanied. The second thing he did was yell at you for going anywhere unattended in the first place. From this point forward, he's made it clear that you are to be accompanied by no less than two of your guards at all times, without exception.

Admittedly, the guard had been getting fairly loose since you left Iseria, but he didn't have to get so damn angry. For an old elf, the man could shout almost as loud as Captain Gregory in Morsland. Almost.

After that was done, you and Laurentius spoke alone for a bit about what Leviathan had learned from the thug's mind. The new troubled him, but he didn't seem too surprised. You suppose you were bound to run into something like this eventually. Laurentius then advised that you stay in the palace whenever possible, suggesting that you send someone from your Honor Guard if you need something from the city.

That was yesterday, today is the morning of the High Council meeting. You and the others are currently gathered together at the palace's massive dining hall for breakfast, discussing the upcoming meeting as you eat.

“So, explain this to me if you will. This...council, it votes to decide the Kingdom's actions, right?” Roland asks.

“Yes, that's right.” You answer.

“Why? Isn't it a king's duty to decide that? What stops him from overriding the council's decision if it opposes his own? I've known about Iseria's High Council, but I never understood that part of it. The whole idea just seems so...foreign to me, I don't understand it.”
>>
>>43595479
“The king can't override the council's decision, because they're the ones that fill his coin purse.” Reinhardt responds between bites. “Council's filled with our most important nobles. First are the dukes, there's five of them. The king has his spot, that makes six. Now all of them get to pick one other noble to sit on the council as well, that makes twelve council members. The dukes pay taxes to the king, and when there's a war they give him extra soldiers to fight with. On top of that, the appointed councilmen either have a lot of money or a lot of powerful friends too, so it'd be a bad idea to go against the council in most cases.”

Roland nods. “I see...Still, how did the council come to be in the first place? I can't see a king giving up his power willing.”

“They don't teach you this stuff in Galloway?” Reinhardt asks.

“No. Most people find Iseria's system as strange as I do.”

“I confess, it seems rather peculiar to me as well.” Ganelon agrees.

“Guess that makes sense.” You say with a shrug. “As for how it came about, the council was formed after the rebellion against Mad King Torrick. That was...150 years ago?”

“150 years and two months.” Laurentius clarifies.

“...Wait, that's right, you were around when that happened, weren't you?” Reinhardt realizes.

“I was there when King Torrick ascended to the throne, and I was there when his father ascended before him.” He answers calmly.

'I remember King Torrick as well.' Galadriel says to you, a tinge of annoyance in her voice. 'He came to the tower and tried to wield my blade. When I would not move for him he tried to kick me and stubbed his toe. After that he rode off, declaring that he would capture the Forsaken Lands without me. The man was...not all there. It gave me a headache to look into his memories when he tried to take my blade.'

>>43595494
“So, this council was the product of a bad king then?” Roland continues.

You nod. “Yeah, it was. After King Torrick was deposed, the council was formed to prevent kings like him from harming the kingdom again. Torrick's successor was the one who signed off on the council, it was the only way they'd let him on the throne.”

“It sounds rather heavy-handed when you say it like that. King Harald III had his own reasons for signing that charter as well, you know.”

Just then, Lord Bernadotte approaches your table and takes a seat next to you. Thankfully, Erika is not here right now as she said she was going to go eat in the city, probably so she wouldn't have to take her helmet off near Lord Bernadotte..

“Forgive me for interrupting your little history lesson, but I thought it would be prudent to stop by and see how you were doing. By chance, have you decided what you are going to say when the council meeting asks you to speak?”

>”A vague idea, yes.”
>”Sort of. I haven't sat down and thought of what specifically to say, no.”
>”I was just going to tell them what I've seen out there. Surely some of them will reconsider their stance when they hear about the Farms.”
>”Truth be told, no. The meeting doesn't start until this afternoon though, right? I'll decide what I want to say before then.”

In my setting Giants are the polyp-spores of ancient Titan entities that jump between spores. Giants were slaves and servants once, helping the great Titans prepare the solar system for life, but once the titans left the Giants were unable to follow and now simply stick themselves in the ground, many sleeping forever due to their sadness and depression.

However their minds are extremely ancient and advanced and anyone who meditates near them can pick up on these thoughts and deep concepts, many of which are about manipulating the universe from a cosmic or microscopic level. This is where spells and magic come from; people who traditionally have lived around and studied the ancient sleeping giants even if they never knew what they were.

"So," Ryuko says, "Here's the deal. You seem to be getting along well with Faelanerium. But you gotta understand, dragons are prone to... Swings in behavior. They are fire incarnate and it is hard to work with fire without getting burned." She rubs the scarred side of her face. "So, to protect ourselves we have to create a binding rune that will link us with our dragons. This has multiple effects, see. First it makes it less likely that our dragons will lash out against us, even on accident, and hurt us with tooth, claw, or flame. Or poison... Second, while they are bound to us we can cast any spells we want using THEM as the focal point. Dragons are saturated with mana and as a result any spell cast while bound to and near them will be amplified a hundred fold."

"Huh, okay... How do we do the binding?"

"Well..."

hello gentlemen!
i'm about to start a personal project about anthropomorphic animals living in a noir theme solving crimes, fixin' troubles and making puns(kind like Sam and Max). But First i decided to drop by and see what you guys think about.
My question is: Should I make a board game like muchkin or a full-fledged RPG?
Animals Noir is a detective game that you may play as Ricky Cheddar, a Danny Glover-like Rat that wears coats and hats; Mcnuggets, hard-boiled cockwith a "shoot first, ask questions later" atittude; Porkchops, a big and fatass hog from an enforcer unit and many others characters that i'm developing.
And what does animal noir has to offer besides the role playing or board game?
I'm trying to create new system based on as many puns as you can make during the game and generating points from it to buff your battle encounters and skills tests during the game. after using a pun, you accumulate a punpoint, you can use it to increase hit chance, damage or even a skill.
Example: " Ricky made a Cheesy pun about Punching and punch juice, so now he has 3 punpoints to spend using it anyway that the player feels like it. Do you want to convince a npc? Need more powder in your shots? Just do it!"
so that's it for now, i hope that it may interesting you, fellas!
i'll try be around to answer any questions about or read any suggestions!
