Team Yankee - Americans and the rule books are currently in stores. The Soviets should arrive this weekend.
I've worded up the wife to get me Team Yankee for Christmas.
A few of the locals here in canberra are talking about playing it in 6mm. Not to sure if i'll jump on that band wagon or not. Thoughts?
>>44219533
hope the wife doesn't find the novel?
>>44219533
I've only played 2 small demo games of Team Yankee so far, and I am enjoying it.
As for scale, I prefer 15mm myself. I've always found 6mm to be incredibly tiny.
But I say to go with whatever option actually gets you playing the game.
Having opponents to play against is pretty important.
ITT: we world build.
We start with the picture posted in the OP. Anons below add something to the world we are building. You may not contradict the anons above you in the thread.
>The Zaron desert covers around 40% of the planets surface
>>44344961
The resulting lack of plant life makes the air too thin for complex life.
>>44344976
The Zaron desert is located on the third planet from the sun, life is abundant on the fourth one.
>>44345005
A radical faction from the 4th planet has spent years raising resources for a colony to be placed in the Zaron desert. The first colonists have just landed.

Recap:
Previously you found out that your boss had lost a massive bet on the underground mech battling circuit. Seeing him faced with the prospect of having his balls cut off by an angry Russian, you decided to cheer him up with booze and cocaine. He then accompanied you on your final assignment for him: clearing out a snake infestation from a Noah’s Ark themed amusement park beneath the Tsing Ma Bridge. On arrival you found that the “snakes” were actually overgrown centipedes and were nearly ensnared by large sessile creatues living in the trashfilled pools outside the Ark itself.
Inside the Ark you discovered abandoned creationist exhibits that seemed to contain operational surveillance equipment as well as more centipedes, this time outfitted with electronic devices that seemed to control their movements. They chased you into the second floor food court, where you fortified your position and prepared a trap while attempting to decide whether to escape or delve deeper into this obviously still inhabited theme park.
From last threads winning roll:
>Get the biggest metal container. Light a fire under it.
>Pour all your caustic chemicals in the container.
>take any intact glass bottles you find and fill them with oil and a rag. Make molotovs. Fire >extinguishers that have as much glass shards as you can wrapped around them hidden near the doors.
Gathering whatever ancient flammable trash you can, you create two beds of crap in front of both the two main entrances to the food court, planting trashcans at their center and pouring all the different cleaning chemicals and some oil and grease inside before locking their lids shut. Any remaining oil you use to douse the ground beneath the cans and make 3 molotov coktails, which you split between yourself and Devlinson.
You secure broken glass dipped in volcano sauce to all of your fire extinguishers and plant them near the doors. You think this is very ironic.
Take position where?
>prepare to shoot up one of the entrances after the trashcans go off, behind fortified by metal chairs and tables
>don’t bother taking position, search for way to roof
>don’t bother taking position, search for way to elevator
>retreat into the restaurants, prepare to hold out in melee
>write-in

So, how do you kill Gods in your games and do you kill them at all?
>>44344722
Gods die if they get killed. That's the way it should be.
>>44344760
But how do you kill your gods?
>>44344722
The God of Death, one of the two primevals, will kill them if they desire to cease to exist, or strip them of their powers and grant them an afterlife like the other beings of the realm.
>playing any other chapter
why? Ultramarines are not only the default choice and the poster boys of the Imperium but they are the best choice as every other Astartes aspires to be like them surely you just painted your army in the wrong color by mistake and acknowledge the inferiority of other chapters right? They are pure, they have excellent tactics and they have by far the best color scheme truly they were blessed by the Emperor.
Black Templars are better.

I don't. What the fuck?

Hey /tg/,
I've started running a game for a couple people new to RPGs, and i'm a fairly inexperienced DM myself. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for flying by the seat of my pants? Despite my planning for a session, something always goes a different or strange way, how do I cope without this? I don't want to railroad and I feel I could be running it better.
>>44342244
Plan only bullet points and occasional set pieces.
Realize there is a difference between railroad and manipulating your players into falling into your hands. Let the players do as they will, but go along with what is important as a centerpiece.
Make sure each pc gets some attention, both part of the group and individually. The players should offer a little about who and what their character is, and what they want, and you should work that into the game, as either goals or a hinge to involve them.
Do not be afraid to call the official GM 2 minute break if you need to think, rather than stumble forward into shit.
>>44342244
about to be doing the same with 6 new players
never GM'd before in my life
read through rule book a few times and am currently just building a hometown, BBEG lair, main hub, and littering the rest of the landscape with mini dungeons.
I'd recommend just generating a short list of monsters before every game with the necessary stats for an encounter. Skellingtons, wolves, goblins, whatever you think they can handle

Use this, helps out.
You are Ur'shal, Chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan and Warlord of the Wastes. Your plan to ambush the shifter camp, genius though it was, had to undergo a pretty major alteration once you arrived at your destination, discovering the shifter camp in shambles and its survivors driven back to higher ground by a wave of insectile mutants, all that remains of the elves who lived in the abyss-corrupted lands to the west.
You managed to make the best of things, coordinating a plan to strike the mutants from both sides with the very force you came her to conquer, knowing full well that there's nothing different races can agree on so readily as a hatred of the Abyss. The mutants are gone now, dead or scattering back into the jungle after the example made of their sorcerer by Bra'kur, and despite a few losses, all told it was an easy enough fight.
Now though, you find yourself in a tense stand-off with your allies of convenience. The shifters are weakened, bloodied, reduced to half their numbers by the mutants, you've no doubt that your war pack could overwhelm what's left of them. Unfortunately, with how resilient the shifters' regeneration and shapechanging powers make them, you've also no doubt that in the pitched battle you'd be waging if you assaulted them now, you'd lose a lot of warriors, and you don't have a vast number to spare.
(cont)
>>44342153
Fortunately, you and the shifter share one thing in common, an understanding of asserting dominance through single combat. With it being the least costly option for you, and the only option for the taciturn shifter alpha whose name you still don't know, the two of you have squared off in a wide circle between your forces to settle this once and for all. The shifter alpha, still wearing her elven form, showing signs of her heritage in the yellow glow of her eyes, her sharp teeth, and now in the rather more blatant panther claws she's just sprouted in place of hands, crouches low, watching you, studying you, waiting for some slight slip-up which will be her chance to make the first move.
So what now, Chieftain?
>Overwhelming aggression, charge in and start this off hard
>Defensive, watch her in turn, go in slow and steady
>Taunting, try to lure her into making a first, foolish move
>Other (write-in)

Looking for cool pieces of Star Wars art. Stormtroopers, bounty hunters, ships, planets, or whatever
You first, OP
>>44342358
fair enough
Who is the bigger threat to the Imperium Nids, Necrons or Chaos?
>>44341399
The lore says Chaos.
Feel free to disagree with the lore and throw tantrums. It's what salty xenofags love to do.
>>44341399
I'd say Chaos.
While Nids and Necrons are more directly powerful and each fully capable of wiping out the galaxy, they're both external threats. They can be detected, escaped, avoided, and identified fairly easily (save for genestealers, of course). It's physically possible, though impossibly unlikely, for the Imperium to separate themselves completely from both, and exist alone.
Chaos is an internal threat. By it's nature, it cannot be avoided or evaded entirely, only held back. Chaos has a foothold on every human world by virtue of humans being there. Chaos is pervasive and inescapable. The Imperium cannot distance itself from it, because they drag it with them as they flee.
>>44341399
Seeing how the plot never advances and the Imperium will forever remain in charge of most of the galaxy by virtue of stasis, none of them.

>>44341260
yes. what about it?
>stable economy
>happy society
>no corruption
>no Chaos possession either
>once boss is around everything works like a well oiled machine, way more competent leaders than Imperium has
Everything seems to indicate that green is in fact best and if you still worship Emperor you should kill yourself.
>>44340801
>Economy only remains stable as long as leader provides a steady influx of enemies to satisfy his people
>Society fractures over the slightest disagreement between leaders and their closest-ranking.
>Society turns to mass in-fighting the moment they become disillusioned with current leader.
>Society turns to mass in-fighting the moment they run out of enemies to kill, also resulting in social collapse.
Orks are as derp as any other 40k faction.

What is the Horus Hersey for 500 Points, Anon?
>>44340869
no they aren't
fuck you
they are perfect
>be guardsman
>get shot
>a campaign centered around a dungeon 20 floors tall. each floor designed for that level of characters, and monsters. each floor having a small hub town to rest and fix, towns becoming scarce as you climb. Finally only repairman is found to fix equipment and sell food. Final boss grants 1 million gold...to the one who betrays his party and joins him. Becoming the new floor 20 boss. And adds more floors..
Here is a general idea.
My friend and I spent 3 hours jokingly talking about a super bad villian who just created a giant tower outside a town and sent out flyers advertising 1 million gold reward. Then it turned into why not. And let's make it. So far I identified a few things to do.
1. Random floor bosses
2. Themed floors
3. How fast difficulty raises. Or if the door won't appear until they reach sufficient level
4>who gets to be the DM controlling final boss who has infinite power within his tower of power, who creates monsters at will and outfit them by thinking it.
5.>whether or not to make random event cards to draw randomly to spice it up a bit
6. Party leader gets a homebrew HERO class which is a mix of paladin, wizard and other fun stuff.
Floor 19 boss was gonna be a necromancer named George who collects fallen adventurers for his experiments
All the bosses are resurrected after the players leave the floor, to prepare for the next group
Any thoughts on this, or books I should take a look at, anything helps and feel free to say anything
I have mostly everything for d&d before 4th edition book wise
>>44340052
That sounds boring.
Let's make it a tower with at least a hundred levels, each floor roughly the size of the universe. At the top, you get granted your greatest wish, but nobody has ever made it.
>>44340052
Why would a character want that much gold if they're not allowed to leave?
>>44340113
Or have the tower go down into the earth.
It never ends, it simply makes less and less sense the further you travel.
Stat me for Pathfinder, /tg/!I've actually been working on the main cast for myself, but I figured you guys might want to share in the fun. I'd be nice to see another stat thread that didn't start and end nowhere.
>>44340051
Lawful good bullywug with fighter/whatever the halfway decent equivalent of fighter is levels
If it were 3.5 I'd say warblade levels, definitely.
>>44340189
Well right off the bat, I was thinking fighter/sorcerer/cleric.
The majority of the cast are sorcerers to some degree and he uses quite a few healing abilities.
>>44340051
Grippli Paladin.
You mean it wasn't obvious?
If Paladin isn't your jam, then you could always go Magus or Warpriest.

>"taught the Empire to be versatile"
>"micro warp-jumps"
I love how painfully obvious it is that they don't care about the source material whatsoever and just wanted to use 40k as a template to put over their generic space RTS.
>>44339783
If that's all you can whine about then it will be a nice game I reckon.
>>44339783
>micro warp-jumps
seem op
but they sorta nail the Gothic architecture
>>44339868
Micro warp-jumps is a pretty big thing. The warp is, if you don't know, a pretty major aspect of the Warhammer universe, and in 40k making a warp-jump is a major undertaking that takes time and cannot be made near gravitational wells.
The only thing I can think of is them having equipped the entire ship with an enormous shunt pack for teleportation, which means that they're flinging their entire crew and a ship that takes up to a hundred years or so to build miles upon miles through the warp largely unprotected, using unheard-of archeotech that is suddenly commonplace.
