Say theoretically that in a setting where fairly traditional currency based economics have always been the norm, one nation gains widespread use of molecular fabrication technology.
Basically anything can be made with time and feedstock, and the nation in question has more than enough electrical power to supply the machines.
How then does economics change? Can standard currencies still have value in the face of such a technology? Would a gold standard even mean anything in the face of tech that lets someone print out enough gold bricks to make a house if the whim struck them?
Feedstock is cheap as dirt because half the time that's what it is, but electricity would still have to be paid for, and even feedstock isn't completely free. Though this nation would also have the technology to make labor robots to handle mundane tasks.
Any thoughts on how a national economy might shape up in the face of such technology?
>>44337960
Economy crashes. Money is worthless. Gold is devalued. Gratz, a new Africa is born.
>>44337960
Time becomes the currency. Time worked gives you time on the replicators. So while you can make yourself a house of gold bricks, it's going to take awhile to actually work enough to make it.
>>44338135
In the game the vending machines only accepted currency in the form of chips that were combined feedstock and battery. Would such a currency still hold up? Each coin would have value because it is literally the self contained resources to make things.
Plus it would be easier on infrastructure if everyone carried the power with them in battery form rather than all that electricity being transmitted along power lines.
Why is there no tongue-in-cheek Game/book/movie about 40k

I say 3 termies go on a hunt for a missing CaT and meet a whole bunch of funny characters or rick and morty but with an guardsmen and psyker
Because that's not really grim or dark.
40k may have once been like a ridiculous joke setting but I think it's reached the point where like a canon breech of the whole mood would cause the entire thing to come crashing down.

So your saying it has to stay grim-derp or it'll simply stop being fun?

>he doesn't know about Ciaphas Cain
I mean it's not in your face about being a comedy, but the style of humor the books use is perfect for poking fun at how derpy the setting is without making fanboys reeeeee over their precious grimdark being made fun of.

Think the movie PIXEL, Except entertaining.
>>44332146
Probably some sort of AI controlled jet of some type. It would outperform average jets and our AA systems would have trouble pinning it because its lack of organic pilot means it could pull maneuvers that would usually kill the occupants. Because dragons seem to run on magic we could handwave the massive stresses that shit would put on the planes body over time.

Visual attractiveness doesn't seem like the best point of judgement for the moral value of things, in general. There's plenty of examples of evil-but-pretty or ugly-but-good things out there.
Become The Vampire 20
You head for the Chinese restaurant with Jennifer. She sticks close to your side, and thinking about it for a moment, you realize that she's the one who's afraid. She's away from her pack, away from people she knows she can control, and the only person who she can rely on is you. You don't see the fear on her face, but she gently squeezes your arm from time to time when people pass by.
The sun is still far from the horizon, but you can see a few odd folks here and there. Mainly their the usual sort of people you'd expect to see in slums, except they're more like actors playing roles than genuine gutter trash. Spies, warriors in disguise and black market merchants who can't sell their goods in the Bizarre, or at least those are the images that spring to mind.
The restaurant itself is kind of run down, but as you step inside you almost find yourself in another world. The room is bigger on the inside, lit with candles and lanterns, and the wooden walls, railings and furniture are all beautifully sculpted. A man (at least, you presume it's a man) of Oriental descent (again, presumption) approaches you with a polite smile.
“Welcome to Wong's Room. I am Wong. Table for two?”
You nod and follow the man as he guides you to a table. There are a few other patrons scattered about, talking in low tones about things you probably shouldn't listen in on. You end up in a small booth with Jennifer at your side, a pair of menus laid out in front of you.
“The house special is chicken fried rice, and we have all manner of food and drink in stock to please any palate. What will you have?”

Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.
Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

This is shaping up to be a great source of entertainment:
> some judges are responsible for leaking New Kozilek/Wastes
> Wizards bans them AND uninvolved people just for being in a Facebook group, including people reporting the leaks immediately and trying to help Wizards
> US Southeast region is fucked because they banned multiple L3 and L2 judges
> judge stuff is entirely run by a third-party site (http://apps.magicjudges.org) because Wizards is a bunch of tech-illiterate monkeys
> said third-party took down their site in protest as response
> Need a Regional Coordinator? Can't use magicjudges? Better go to Wizards's site and look there! Except everything on
> http://magic.wizards.com/en/content/judge-regional-coordinators
> links to magicjudges with their statement that Wizards can kindly go and fuck themselves for their latest action
>>44330917
I don't know what any of this means. Can you explain this to an outsider?
Wizards PR is nonexistant. Probably underpaid and unqualified like the entire rest of the company.
>>44331160
No judges, no tournaments. The higher the level, the higher tier of tournament they can run
Do any of you guys know of a good resource for counterfeit MtG cards? I'm not looking to play with them in tournaments or whatever, just looking to get some replicas of the older cards for fun and for casual play with some of my good friends.
>>44328161
Why does literally every person who asks for fakes have to follow it up with the "but I'm totally getting for casual play only!" bullshit line.
We know you're fucking lying. I just don't understand why you feel the need to lie on 4chan.
If it's just to play with your friends, print out some paper cards, cut them out and put them over basics in sleeves.
>>44328278
Honestly, I've thought about getting cards just for casual play. Shit like Doubling Season is a bit absurd.
If I did, though, I'd almost certainly get them with a different card back to make it clear that they were fake, since I play with sleeves, rather than trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.

A daily reminder to always bully your Healer/Dragon/companions etc etc.
>>44329957
Bullying is for the weak willed. The ones who don't bully but instead give kindness to others freely are the true enlightened ones.
Let's say I want to go with the theme of ultimate Pirate gang with just one rule in my Jumpchain:
>always Drop-In, for everyone in the party, always
where would I start? obviously after Pokemon.
What do you think of FFG's narrative dice?
>>44328727
I get what they were going for, but I don't like them.
Wish I could buy them in bulk
They're not bad. They're not my favorite because I don't like having to buy special die and the conversion chart takes about 5 times as long per roll. They're better than a lot of other systems though. Distinctly above average, but I like others better.

What campaign ideas do you have mulling around, /5eg/?
>>44327919
I've always loved Eberron, but never really got a chance to play in it. I ran a 3.5 game once back in the day, but it didn't last too long.
I'm curious to see how well it'll mesh into 5e's milieu.
5e emphasizes magic item rarity, as opposed to the more commonplace magic of 3e, but this might actually increase the importance of the Dragonmarks - in 3e they have you a few SLAs; handy but nothing a few scrolls couldn't handle or a full caster couldn't blow out of the water.
The manufacture of Warforged may be more important in a world where powerful character aren't essentially invulnerable to low-level mooks.
>>44328104
So long as you get away from 3.5e's focus on numerical bonuses on gear, I think 5e could handle a setting like Eberron fairly well. Characters just end up having more versatility and doodads compared to standard 5e, which leads to interesting playstyles in itself.
So if my setting makes use of Witcher series-like oils and potions, and the party needs to be prepared to take on monsters, would it be silly for oils to imbue similar effects to spellcasters if they slather their foci/holy symbols in oil as well?
I'm having a hard time coming up with an analogue for spellcasters.
Your people have always been a simple folk. But you are smarter and more cunning than your brothers and sisters. Once your father died you claimed the title of chief, no one opposed you because of your skills as a Hunter and Tactician You are J’amp Guud Big Chief of the bullywugs. You will lead your tribe to control the Swamps, or die trying.
