Marines Errant. I have a huge hardon for 1700-1800s naval warfare, and these guys actually fight in space and use their space marines as MARINES

Will I make. I'm just perplexed, especially because it was a long campaign and the ending was ... anticlimax.

Anyone find it ironic that Duel masters is this cliche over the top Japanese card game with crazy monsters and effects and Engrish names, but its designed by a bunch of old white dudes in Trenton?

PCs got caught up in their schemes and offed one of them, and the NPC party is out for blood. One of their plans is to squash them along with some other enemies beneath a giant flying pyramid.

I just finished a campaign where the dean of the Arcane College was an eco-terrorist, trying to make the land unsuitable for life. He prepared a procedure to transfer his soul into the body of a construct so that he could survive when everything was dead. At first, he was just ruining ecosystems: cursing a forest with blights, adding dangerous invasive species to environments, forming an alliance with a Mummy Lord (wanted to spread deserts) that the players let go after summoning with magic beans, etc. His big, grand plan, though, was to unleash an evil power that was sealed away in a holy site for Paladins. The evil power was a wave of death (a thick black sludge that drains away life) that would spread to cover the entire planet. He ended up achieving this plan, but the party beat him and re-activated the seal, causing the death sludge to surge back into the Paladin tower it came from. The dean's minions were all constructs he built. However, he appeared as an upstanding individual that kept the Arcane College running, so no one really thought him evil, except the party that had been informed of his evil ways be a druid. Since he seemed like a good guy, his minions didn't really show up until the end when the party decided to face off against him.

I have an idea what you're doing with this thread but I'm not certain, you might revise the format and try again next week for better results.

that's a person that should be wearing boots

I am now gm-ing a dark heresy campaign (6 sessions)
Before we started i warned players that this will be a wery hard campaign. A lot of deaths etc.

I tried, but in first five games no one even needed to burn a fatepoint. Everything went rather easily for them. And now they are complaining.

Last session heretics managed to throw a fucking building on players heads. Only one burned fatepoint. Yeah.

So, how can you be more deadly as a gm but still be fair? I am not a fan of «Rock falls everyone dies», so that is not a variant

"You enter the corridor and you find a creature, made from molten magma and with death painted in its eyes staring right at you.

"Give me Will checks for Fear 4 and then you can fight the Charnel Daemon."
>>
>>46220802
This is completely fair
>>
>>46220763
Ambushes will sort it, overwatch and suppressive fire, pinning checks etc.
Just because you're playing 'fair' and the combat is an appropriate matchup, doesn't mean you have to fight clean.

Skeletons, unlike zombies, don't have fleshy bits
Their joints could be seen as being empty.
Thus, if a necromancer were to coat a skeleton's bones in a layer of metal (why was I about to write chocolate?), then he could greatly increase their durability without affecting their dexterity (well, maybe the spine would be fucked)

Conversely, one could argue that reanimation works because the body, having been home to a soul, is ready for an animating force to inhabit it without special preparation, but the metal casing around the bones would require something closer to animating a golem than animating the dead

Thoughts?

>>46220626
If you're going to go to the effort of getting molten metal in such quantities as to coat extremely irregular shapes like skeletons, you'd be better spending your time getting metal golems, metal weapons, or just getting more skeletons.
>>
>>46220626

Just say that you want a Necromancer Wolverine.
>>
>>46220626
I just stick a hornet's nest in a zombie. It's just as mean and a lot more cost effective.

14/88 from McCragg

>You are Flavius Petrus Sabbatius Iustinianus Augustus, the Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire. Through force of will of your predecessors you've inherited a vast empire of unified faith. Your treasury overflows with gold and silver and the enemies of the empire cower and flee at the sight of your vast legions.

>Yet, at the same time that the east has prospered, the west has declined. Waves of barbarians attacked the western empire from without and religious upheaval between Christians and Pagans weakened the empire from within. For more than forty years now the western empire existed in name only. Now ruled by barbarians the Ostrogothic Kingdom of Italy promoted a policy of religious heterogamy and integration between the Italian Romans and the Goths. Becoming bolder over the years, the new Gothic king, Theodahad have just executed Amalasuntha, the pro-Roman queen of the Ostrogoths and long time ally of yours in the west.

>The entire Roman world is outraged and your greatest general, Belisarius, conqueror of Africa request your permission to launch an immediate invasion against Italy. At the same time emissaries from Theodahad has arrived in the capital pleading renewed loyalty to Constantinople and to you.

What do you do?

Assuming I know what I do today? Forget about the West, go East. Let Belisarius grind the Persians down to a stump and conquer Arabia. There's not much of worth, but anything that prevents 1453 is a good thing.

Maybe send Beli to Italy after that, if he feels up to the task. If not, well... 1453 was prevented and expansion to the East (closer to India) was made. Look for trade opportunities (preferably naval as to avoid Persian territory) East. Gotta get that cashmoney.

Let's get it out of the way:

I think DW sucks. I think Apocalypse World sucks. Either is not very good at handling their chosen themes and settings and have very poor implementations of Marks and Bonds.

BUT stripped down, they offer a good engine that has been used for creative and novel roleplaying. Games like Monsterhearts and World Wide Wrestling use to full potential the engine, in order to bring unique roleplaying, making the flaws of the original implementations of the system into strengths. Urban Shadows actually plays as WoD should play out.

Are there other people that like the "Powered by Apocalypse" engine and particular implementations, even if the mainstream and most popular implementations fail hard? Or is this an unusual opinion, with most people either hating or loving Worlds, with no exception?

how does 4chan feel about wombo combo decks? for the sake of the thread, I will define wombo combo decks as decks where, when a certain combination of cards is played, you all but instantly win the game, creating infinite [health/creatures/damage/butthurt] or whatever.
14 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>46218455
it's part of the game and creates a good check for control decks against more linear decks
>>
>>46218455
I don't understand the joy of playing this kind of deck for more than a month.
I mean yeah playing storm is fun the first few times, you learn the interaction, when to pull the combo off.
But after 50 games, when all you do is the exact same thing over and over again... meh.
The worst "competitive" combo deck might be ad nauseam.
Seriously all you do is
T1 Suspend Lotus Bloom
Cast some shit cantrip.
Cast Lotus Bloom
Go off and hope your opponent didn't have disruption.
And yu don't have any other line of play except the one other wincon in your SB.
There is a guy at my LGS that is playing this deck every single week. And I can't think that he is enjoying it.
>>
>>46218455
If others want to play a infinite combo deck then that is fine and I won''t complain but I personally avoid them. Something about going infinite has always just left a bad taste in my mouth.

why doesn't a lich just make his phylactery the planet? lasts (mostly) forever, adventurers can't destroy it (unless they are evil, or at least spiteful), no shortage of dying people, etc. it seems like a solid plan. pic probably unrelated

phylacteries are destroyed during restoration.

Because a phylactery is a piece of jewelry, and because a lich's phylactery has to be made of adamantine, you fucking mong.

Also phylacteries are generally two size categories smaller than the creature that creates it.
