No one has ever doubted their ability to do that. What people doubt is if they care.
So I am supposed to DM this and I'm fucking confused regarding how main chunks of the adventure are at all connected. At first you smas a goblin raiding camp, then you go to town and get involved with messing up some local hooligans and at the end you drop into some mine where BBEG is looking for some anvil of badassery?
Anyone cares to summarize the connection between these events for me?
Thanks
>>46646413
There is none. Welcome to a sizeable portion of D&D modules.
>>46646413
Did you ACTUALLY read the fucking thing at all? Because I can tell you didn't.
Everything you name is directly connected via the missing dwarves and the black spider, now if you were complaining about how the main quest feels like it should be time sensitive and the sidequests don't make any fucking sense to actually do given that sense or urgency you'd have a point, but instead you decided to complain about something very fucking clearly explained.

OP here.
I was like ... what ... But this seems to be the case.
I'm mostly interested in 5e here, though 3.5 also works. Most of the classes are obvious - crusader is a paladin, leper and man at arms are fighters, grave robber and highwayman are various flavours of a rogue, houndmaster is a beastmaster ranger, while arbalest is a hunter. They all fit D&D stereotypes really well.
But what about such classes as occultist, plague doctor and abomination? How would you play them, /tg/? Maybe we can homebrew something. I'll post my ideas slightly later.
Plague Doctor would be closest to Pathfinder's Alchemist, I reckon.
Obamination I'd run as refluffed Moon Druid.
Occultist... unless you really want to go for 0 hp heal + bleed, I'd say some flavour of cleric without heavy/medium (or even light) armour or a bard.
Also, I'd say Leaper is a paladin too, just prefers self-buffs and regular attacks.

Sup /tg/, I've decided to play a paladin in an upcoming compaign and I don't wanna be a typical lawful idiot. Looking for some inspiration/interesting background and character trait ideas.
So, general badass paladin thread, I guess?
Guess I'll bump with paladins for a little bit

But the range is huge.
Are you a man disillusioned with man, who trusts no one because he has seen the worst of mankind and enforces strict rules to keep people from doing bad?
Are you a person with a realistic view of the world who knows that evil happens, but who also wholly believes that no matter what man does, they are not evil? A man who'll jump to the rescue of anyone even the vilest of villains (until a lawful court sentences them to death?)
Are you a naive boy who ventures out to save the innocent from the wicked and who'll run from one moral dilemma to the next because life isn't as black&white as he believed?
Are you a cynic who has decided that mankind as a whole is evil and who'll deal fierce punishment for the tiniest bit of sinning?
Are you a jolly chap who is a defender of justice but also a friend of enjoying life? A guy who loses count of his beers in the evening but who'll pay for the damages he has caused in the morning?
Are you a man who will do what is necessary, and not hesitate to kill a man, but who'll nevertheless mourn the loss of the villain's life? A man with a gentle heart that he must steel every day because he is the champion of justice and there are things that must be done?
Who's even your God of choice? That is after all a defining factor.
Pick three to help you on your journey, /tg/. I'll post bosses next.
Here are the bosses, choose one to pursue.I picked the Reformed Villanous Vixen, Orc Troublemaker, and Androgynous Cleric Kid. We're going after the evil sword.
And here's a little bonus if you don't like the bros in Broquest. Pick two of these,I went with Lifelong Warrior Cactus and Ancient Cactus Knight.

What is the "best" setting for running a scifi ttrpg for new players?
I'm factoring in:
>Availability of Source Books.
>Premade content for idea thieving and getting a running start.
>Assumed/Required lore/knowledge of the setting necessary for play.
I've heard good things about GURPS and Dark Heresy but I know little about them or any others.
Thanks guys.
Oh and
>General Complexity
Star Wars. I only know FFG's version (which fits your criteria), but I've heard good things about d6 as well.
The setting is good for heroic space adventures and easy to get into because, hey, who doesn't know Star Wars?
>>46645291
Ok I'll lurk the /SWg/ in the meantime.
Hopefully Starwars doesn't tip the scales of *maximum dork* and scare them off.

>>46644318
Is he the angel's stand?
Can a ghost have a Stand?
I haven't watched much JoJo's but that sounds ridiculous enough to be legal.
>>46644430
Yep. There's one in Part 4, actually.
Stands are manifestations of the soul, so if you -are- a soul, it only makes sense that in certain situations a ghost could have a Stand.
It's really no weirder than a dog, a cat, a bird or an orangutan having one, really.

Tell me /tg/, how do you like setting information set out in a rule book?
>Separate entity / entry in the book, has basic information presented from top to bottom in a factual way
>Sprinkled among the rules and chapters of the book; in the form of quotes, short stories, fictions, or other methods
>Book has little to no setting information injected
>The entire book is setting information
How do you absorb fantasy/science fiction settings /tg/ the best? Do you think 'setting bibles' are a good idea on their own (as in a book without many game mechanics, contents or rules but more focused on the game world), or do you prefer the more mechanical side of things?
>>46642936
The way the new Unknown Armies edition set up its setting stuff in the books is probably my favorite. Rules are in book one, GM advice is in book two, and book three is entirely dedicated to dumping setting information on you. Book one has some little flavor text sprinkled in here and there to help you think of a character, and the GM advice book has stuff to get you in the mood.
>>46642936
1 and 2 are good combination for core rulebooks: Nothing like having some inspiration while you read the rules, wrapping your head around as you go.
Still it's important to add a dedicated book on the setting, detailing more complex details
>>46642936
>>Sprinkled among the rules and chapters of the book; in the form of quotes, short stories, fictions, or other methods
along with the fact that the rules are specific to the setting

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/pauper

>Which rules should I follow?
If you don't already have some homebrew version with friends, follow the MTGO card pool and banlist (and please spread this to your friends that start playing with you). Currently the only place Pauper is officially supported by Wizards is online, and they have a card pool and banlist, therefore that is the format we should be using offline on paper as well, since decks and cards can transfer to games between each other with no confusion.
>WAHHH THATS TO HARD WHERE...

The bottom left has a box, select MTGO Pauper, all cards in the card pool and banlist are taken into account.
>What deck should I use?
Ask in the thread!
>Is MTGO worth it?
If you have no local paper competition, but want to play a vast amount of Pauper, it can't be beat, even if it is a clunky GUI, you learn quickly.
Some good decks for newbies include but are not limited to:
>Burn
>Elves
>Goblins
>Stompy
>Slivers
>Affinity
>Mono U control
>UB Teachings
>>46638873
Repopulate is the closest there is to a Elixir in Pauper. I'm not shure Chronicles is released in MTGO so Feldon's Cane might not be common online but if your playgroup allows it, it was common on paper.
So hard to find Commons with everyone fapping and wasting money on standard now.
I just want a fucking Goblins deck.
What do you think about Forked Bolt to replace Chain Lightening? Adding two and two spark Elemental.
>>46642049
FB seems kind of redundant with Death Spark; Rift Bolt would be more equivalent. I don't think Spark Elemental is good in goblins.
ok so im fairly new to D&D im wondering how can you kill something with an AC higher then 20? is it possible? cause im finding monsters that have like 26 AC
What level are those monsters? Your attack bonus increases with level.
Plus there's magic, which usually doesn't even roll to hit, it makes THEM roll to live.
>>46641589
Attack bonuses, gear bonuses, shit that bypasses regular AC, etc. A nat 20 is a hit no matter what someone's AC is too.
>>46641589
Your attack bonus gets added to your roll
Any other fa/tg/uys still play AD&D 2nd edition? I might just be nostalgiafagging but I legitimately think it's better than the other editions.
>>46639208
As a long time Pathfinder player who wants to switch, explain why. Not just for Pathfinder, but all four other editionsand, if possible, any other general fantasy systems.
>>46639338
I've tried 5ed and it really seems like its more of a videogame than a table top game. They made combat more "complex", but its quickly devolves into spamming named attacks like your playing some MMO, which I personally fucking hate. Also the emphasis on the "polished" combat system takes a lot of the focus away from roleplaying and tactical strategy, the two reasons I play DnD at all.
>>46639208
The writing and the settings were extremely well put together. Later splatbooks were lacking in good crunch.
