Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!

Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!

>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use. A majority of activity (including campaigns) instead happens in the IRC, which is open for newbies to join.
Characters can be rolled with either the CYOA's purple PDF which is intended as a writing prompt and is in the process of developing an independent auxiliary combat system, or AMGC's blue pdf which contains combat rules for PNP campaigns along with the rolls.

Post builds, roleplay, write stuff.

So we have:
>Churchill Crocodile
Already covered by rules. 135 per tank at CT and 170 per tank at CV.
>Sherman Crab
Already has rules. Cheaper than standard shermans (estimated at 40 per tank at CT, 50 at CV)
>Sherman DD
Already has rules. 60 per tank at CT, ~80 per tank at CV
>Armored Bulldozer
Already has rules. 10 points for CT, 15 for CV.
>AVRE
Already mostly covered, with rules for Fascine and Assault Bridge. 20 per tank at CT and 25 per tank at CV. Bobbin (can make a 8" section after skill test over mud, snow, sand, fields, scrub, and other low-lying terrain, changes Slow to normal and difficult to slow), Double Onion (one or two use, blow up bunker on a successful skill test with physical contact?), and Bullshorn (count as mine flail) equipped versions do not have rules.
>Armored Ramp Carrier
No existing rules. Bridges gaps and provides ramp for small rises. Counts as assault bridge that can ramp up a 2" bank and that can be retrieved after use.
>BARV
No rules, but it's just an amphibious sherman ARV. Call it a 5 pt upgrade and done.
>Centaur Bulldozer
No rules that I know of. Treat as a faster and more heavily armored armored bulldozer (6/4/1, standard tank). Points are probably double armored bulldozer or so.
>Canal defense light
Has no rules. Should dazzle enemy and reveal units during night ops, still have M3 hull gun during the day.

>Engineering Group
CT is 90 points, CV is 115 points. You get two of the following sections (each team in a section operates as an independent team):
Four Armored Bulldozers, BARVs, or Armored Ramp Carriers (mix and match as you wish). One Centaur Bulldozer counts as two Armored Bulldozers for this selection.
Two AVREs (your choice of attachments).
One Canal Defense Light.

A bit more expensive than the individual bits should be, but you get to tailor it to the terrain and opponent.

I'm not sure if what the Brits need is more funnies.
Maybe some kind of other armour buff, or just have SIF work at all ranges.

Still, I like the more methodical style of play you normally need to use in Commonwealth forces.

Maybe all that's really needed is for the most bullshit US lists (in particular Patton) get a nerf.
Which might actually happen in the Bulge compilations.
>>
>>46716788

What were the other British strengths, historically?

Would something about improving air support make sense, given the RAF's significant contribution to the war? I was thinking either "air support dice succeed on a 4+", or "reduce wave-off distance to 12". Both might need to be combined with re-costing air for Brits though.

It's been a long time coming but we're finally creating a quest board. We're going to give it some unique features to help quest authors and before we open the board to posting we want to give anons an opportunity to give some feedback on what we've come up with. We also have a basic set of rules that we'd like the people who are going to be using the board to critique.

/qst/ - Quests
  • Safe for work
  • Bump limit 1000
  • User IDs
  • Only OP can post images
  • OP can use basic text formatting (bold, italics, a handful of text colors)
  • Everyone gets dice

The point of limiting images to the OP is to make sure that people don't get distracted by reaction images, and to allow the OP more control over the setting and tone in the thread. The OP is the quest author, and if only they can post images then they have a greater ability to create a mood, an atmosphere for the story they are trying to tell. It also limits the potential for spamming and intentional derails by trolls. Same goes for limiting text formatting to quest authors. The point of italics, bold, and colored text is to give the quest author more options in how they present their story. Maybe they want to use italics for character dialog, maybe they want to use bold for labeling important items, or maybe they want to use colors to highlight key words. These features are being added for the benefit of the quest author, and not for funposting.

Here are the basic rules we've come up with:
  1. This board is for author-driven collaborative storytelling (i.e. "quests"). All threads posted here should be part of a new or ongoing quest.
  2. The author controls the story of the quest. They can take suggestions from other posters, or not, at their sole discretion. If things don't go your way don't complain!
  3. All threads on this board should be created by the associated quest author. Please refrain from making meta-threads.
  4. Erotic roleplay is not permitted. Frequent explicit descriptions of sexual encounters by a quest author may result in mod intervention.

The result of rules 1 & 3 should be that every thread on /qst/ has a quest author as the OP, and therefore the author would have access to images and text formatting options that come with being the thread OP. If you create a thread on /qst/ without intending to run a quest then your thread is going to get deleted. Same goes for if you create a thread begging for a quest author to post more, or if you create a thread to talk about an ongoing quest, etc. All threads must be new or ongoing quests, period. Rule 2 is pretty self-explanatory: the quest author controls the story, period. Don't be an arse and try to flip the table just because the quest author didn't take your suggestion. Rule 4 is probably going to get a lot of criticism, but it's necessary. The main reason we took so long to make this board is that we didn't want to create a haven for erotic roleplay and erotic fan fiction. While we've given quest authors a lot of leeway on this on /tg/, we have had to intervene a few times in the past when quests turned into wank material. We're aiming for adventure, exploration, suspense, mystery, etc, and not erotica. If you want erotica try another venue. That's not to say that everything has to be G-rated; just that if as a quest author you're spending most of your time describing sex in graphic detail, then odds are a mod is going to warn you to "fade to black" instead.

We'd like to know what fa/tg/uys think about all this. We're open to suggestions/feedback/criticism/whatever.
>>
>Erotic roleplay is not permitted
Fuck, but I want smut-fags to leave. too.
>>
Didn't moot suggest a role-playing board years and years and years ago? He said he'd have an idea "by the weekend" or something, it never happened.

What about a general play-by-post role-playing, quest, and forum games board? Quests seem pretty specific and might not be big enough to fill ten pages on their own.

Questions. That. Don't. Deserve. Their. Own. Thread.

Hi, I have two to start off;
1. Is there a game where I can start my PCs off as no stats farmers/villagers. Give them a generic goblin raid and have them skill up through their choices of combat, a la dungeon siege?

2. How to deal with resurrection spells taking all of the drama/fear out of losing a party member once you have a cleric in the party past 6?
84 posts and 13 images submitted.
>>
>>46962532
You can do 1 in most games, if you have a prefered system I can suggest how to do it in that system. But I don't know any system that does that by default.

About 2....I simply forbid ressurection spells and items. I sometimes allows players to cheat death in a situational basis, usually with a heavy price. Players killed by vampires may return as a vampire, sometimes players might have their mind transfered to a nearby body as part of a curse...Etc.
>>
2: Remove resurrection spells or make them very, very rare.
You could also have the God demand a sufficient favour/task/sacrifice for exchange of the spared life.

My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

In order to try and help Charlotte calm down after everything that's been happening, I've (with Gabrielle's help managed to drag her out of the hotel for the day. And though the real amusement park is too far away to reliably be able to get back from before it's dark out, with any luck this little one we're going to is a fair enough substitute.

Having reached our destination, me and Charlotte step out of the taxi that brought us here and take in the atmosphere. The sky is nice and bright with only a couple of fluffy clouds innocently floating along, the temperature isn't too hot and isn't too cold, and there doesn't seem to be too many people around today.

So basically, we picked the perfect day to come here!

"Doesn't look too bad from outside at least," Charlotte says while gazing at the area around the park's entrance. "This place is free entry?"
"Yeah," I reply. "All the games and rides and stuff cost money, though."
"Makes sense," she nods. "So are we waiting here for your friends to show up, or..."

I'm curious about this, what's your stance on this or what is your opinion? Are all your elves blond, delicate and white? Or are all your dwarfs ambiguously dark-skinned, bearded shortstacks? Are your orcs green-skinned not-natives or not-blacks?

I feel like diversity in human ethnicities is expected, but I rarely if ever see anyone approaching that topic. We could use the same basic idea for human variations on other races, right? For example, elves who live in arid deserts, have evolved to have darker skin, Dwarfs could be extremely light skinned for arctic climates, etc.

This is a serious thread, not /pol/ or tumblr bait, please keep both extremes to a minimum.

>>
>>46968225
It's good.

I guess the typical one is wood elf, high elf, dark elf but more standard D&D style settings will have at least some variation between different kinds of dwarf, halflings, gnome, and sometimes others.

Hey guys this is the continuation of our Building thread from last night.

The story so far : Thr'ull leads a tribe of bullywugs in the swamp. During their scavenging efforts they encountered a juvenile troll, while the beast was felled it claimed the life of a skilled hunter. As the scouts explored the outer reaches of the swamp they came back with reports of monstrous giants, the encounters left one about crippled. Thr'ull and the elder female were able to join in the covenants of both Tode, God of armaments, siege, and the forge; as well as Malu, Goddess of Water and Rebirth. We last left off with Thr'ull having encountered a small camp of three humanoids and deciding what should be done.

Rules: Ties are won by first post

No rerolls in event of luck event (Ex: dubs to evade)

Remember to vote for anons suggestions

Have fun!

Hey, Anon. I think it would be best if you use a bullywug pic like this for OP. Makes it easier for other players to see it.

Thr'ull decided it would be wise to take only his most skilled warriors, moreover he could only arm so many of his tribe at once. He instructed three of the hunters to gather their spears and follow him, leaving two tribesmen to go and gather materials. He left the crippled sentry in charge of the females and set off to the south, his band of hunters hopping close behind. After a short while they happened upon the area that Thr'ull had discovered the tracks and lowered their pace as they crept forward. Soon the voices could be heard through the misty air accompanied by a peculiar whirring. Thr'ull halted his band of hunters A short distance away from the camp perimeter.
