In all honesty, coming face to face with a god isn't a big deal in your line of work. In fact, you could say that it's routine.

Still, every so often, it manages to surprise you. This is one of those times.

When your working day starts with a sunken city rising from its ancient slumber, snatching up your ship and carrying it onto dry and pitiless land, surprises become commonplace. The sights certainly seem to have left Murasa speechless, leaving her to skulk around behind you, holding her rifle in a loose and careless grip. For the first few moments, she would occasionally point her gun – in a particularly aimless way – at Nodens, or the great fleshy mass reaching down from the soles of his feet. For that, you couldn't really blame her – that tumorous thing is particularly loathsome to look at.

It is also, some growing instinct tells you, the true face of Nodens. Not that prowling creature that skims across the surface of the water and so poorly imitates a man. Not that thing at all.

“My appearance disturbs you,” Nodens gurgles, bubbles of dark, brackish water forming at the corners of his mouth as he speaks, “You children. You have forgotten your gods – we are not all beautiful. What point is there in beauty, when time reduces you all to dust?”

That's... certainly an interesting perspective to take.

“It's the only perspective that matters,” the god grunts, “All history flows down to this pit, to me – I've seen it all. I know why you're here... Ira.” As the name leaves his lips – what passes for lips – Nodens convulses with a burst of wet coughing, which you soon realise is vile laughter. “Yes, I know you, Wanderer, and I know the path that has brought you here. You've taken noble Titanos' treasure, and now you scheme to take fair Selene's as well. Is it theft that brought you here, or were you simply seeking wisdom?”

If he's seen your path, you counter, then surely you don't need to answer that. Wouldn't he already know what brought you here, without you needing to tell him?

“Humour me,” Nodens almost smiles, the expression ghastly on his inhuman face, “We can talk as men, can we not? But I fear you will be disappointed – my lens was already stolen by another, long ago. It is... elsewhere, now. Come, let us discuss other things. That's why you're here, is it not?”

As you watch Nodens' puppet prowling across the surface of that infinitely deep pool, you find yourself wondering just how close to humanity his mind might be. When he has the entire length of history to consider, a single man is little more than a speck of dust – can you really deal with a being that thinks on that scale?

I'm pretty sure that's the point.

From the way they're talking about it, maybe Broken Blade won't be as much about unarmed at all?

Or maybe it'll be the Damage Unarmed, since FE is the Judo Throw Grapple Unarmed.
>>

I'm not qualified to answer any of those, actually. Those two disciplines are ancient; they date back to when this was Libram of Battle. I know Chris had originally wanted four aligned disciplines and eventually the fluff for Crane and Seraph shifted towards angels & fiends in an effort for us to not have to do that because fuck no god why. Solar Wind I honestly don't have the tiniest clue.

You may wanna ask about Expanded disciplines.

I got a great ending for Warhammer 40k.

The Imperium finds some Industrial and Robotics Engineers among a group of people who froze themselves from the 21st century.

Engineers look around and say "What the fuck is this shit? The 1800s?"

Engineers setup efficient mass production of quality Ceramite.

Engineers code software and robotics, non of that machine-spirit bullshit.

Mass produce Space Marine power armor for Imperial Guard.

Mass produce Space Marine Dreadnaughts, controlled by remote or AI.

Mass produce Titans.

The entire Galaxy is conquered by the weight of a hundred trillion Imperial Guards wearing Power Armor.

40k won't end until GW gets to the point that progressing the plot is the ONLY way to keep them form dying, they'd probably sell the IP before then
>>

There can be no happy ending for the Imperium, it ends as the Custodians fight to the last man defending the Imperial Palace after the entire Imperium has fallen apart, Another Empire comes to take its place, the time of men is over.

A thread for creating stuff for Cape Games be it characters, teams, powers, universes, or plots.

All ideas are welcomed and encouraged. None are too grim. None are too wacky. The goal is to create things that GM and players can take and put in their own games, modifying elements to suit their own tastes.

Shortstack sex objects, of course.
>>

A servitor race that went feral before being domesticated again.

They were originally created by humans, along with Elves and Orcs, to help bolster their numbers against the Dragons.

When it came time to abandon Earth the Colony ship that carried everyone crashed. The humans who were stored in stasis pods died and after several thousand years the Elves, Orcs, and goblins started forming their own civilizations along with the various other creaturs that inhabited the planet they crashed landed on.

While no one race was any better when it came to engineering, Goblins are near savant levels when it comes to it as their original purpose was to maintain the ship's systems crawling into spaces that fit their body sizes.

And while they had forgotten most of the original purpose of most technology they were able to pass on how to maintain it so they have advanced weapons as well, at least the ones that didn't turn into post apoc diesel bandits riding tricked out motorcycles and trucks.

What is the difference between Solar Night Caste and Lunar Exalted? I'm not asking about charm, powers and alike. I'm talking about their role in the setting.

From my knowledge Solars' role was to be beacon of hope, rulers and leaders of men, had aura of nobility to rally people around them. Heroes of humanity. And Lunars were their opposites. When someone had to dirty their hands and do things in the shadows you would send Lunars because heroes don't do underhanded deeds. That being said; what is Night Caste role if Lunar exists for the same purpose, or vice-versa?
385 posts and 20 images submitted.
>>
>>47385972
Your almost right...
Lunars existed to be the Solar's aid. The night caste started off (after the war) being the police force. Operating in secret to find, and eliminate hidden threats to the Government and to creation. The Lunar are known as the Stewarts of creation, their job is to aid the Solar law givers. So where the Solar might be the one who carries out the hit, the lunar was the one who brought to their attention that it needed to be done, and the evidence that it needed to be done.

That is the difference. The lunar is the solar's first confidant, their helper, their aid, their right hand. Not all lunar are sneaky types either. Some are the captains serving the Dawn Generals lending their might, or their wits (in the case of particularly obtuse solars) to them. Lunar aren't just meant to support the solar but they are creation's stewards. While the Solar are it's rulers.
>>
> Solars' role was to be beacon of hope, rulers and leaders of men, had aura of nobility to rally people around them. Heroes of humanity. And Lunars were their opposites.

Nah. Some of the Solars had that, sure - the Zeniths - but others were puissant warriors, brilliant technologists, and negotiators and diplomats par excellence.

The Solar's role is to be human ability turned up to 11. They are the best at what they do - but what they do is limited to the arenas of human capability. They are the ultimate fighters, kings, priests, explorers, hunters, diplomats, courtesans, tinkerers, sorcerers, thieves and assassins. The way other splats compete with that is to have niches that go outside of human ability - elemental effects, shapeshifting, fate dickery, etc.

One of the problems with Lunars is that their role has either been poorly defined. They were supposed to be the Solar's mates: their complement, not their opposite (the opposite of Solars would be Abyssals).

In my head anyway, the complement is defined on an individual basis, rather than as between the splats as a whole. The Solar Fightin' Man would be mated with a Lunar socialite, to fill the gaps in his capabilities. The Solar God-King, all righteousness and purity, would have a Lunar who was willing to get their hands dirty. A Solar Sorcerer would have a Lunar bodyguard, to handle the physical threats that were outside his ambit.

That was their role in the First Age, anyway. Then the Solars went mad, abused their mates (and everyone else), and got locked away for millenia. In their absence, the Lunar's have had to determine their own purpose for being. That's ok though, as part of a Lunar's nature is adaptability. They used to adapt to the nature of their Solar mate, now they adapt to whichever task they set themselves too (in 1E that task was "smash stuff", in 2E it was "protect Creation", and in 3E it's yet to be really nailed down, but looks to be "break the realm")

I'm looking to start up a tabletop campaign that strays from magic and focuses more on medieval-type combat. I didn't want to strip a system (like pathfinder) of its magic because it would feel kind of empty since it was supposed to be in the system. Got any good ideas?

RuneQuest 6 has outstanding combat and magic is designed to be modular.

The Burning Wheel is all about Middle Ages fantasy with good combat free of magic.
>>
>>47416771
First off, what sort of game do you want? Gritty and realistic medieval combat where battlefield wounds can get infected? Cinematic chivalrous mounted knights lancing dragons? I'll toss out some suggestions anyway.

Despite being a meme response, GURPS actually does do low tech levels really well, and has fairly detailed rules for both individual and mass combat, and the Low Tech book and Companions have detailed information on medieval life and society.

If you want something more pulpy out of the box, you can use Fantasy Craft and just not use the magic systems, It's a toolkit like GURPS, so it's designed with customization in mind.

Because wizards and druids are overpowered cunts that bend reality so they always win.

Also, why is that Touhou just letting someone stack biscuits on her nose like that? She is clearly not amused, but she just stands there and takes it.

Why doesn't anyone gestalt in 5th edition
70 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
Because there aren't official rules for it and gestalt only works "well" in 3.5e because it makes the inherently over-the-top dumb bullshit in that system and makes it even more dumb and over-the-top.
>>
It's not really necessary.

Since low level spells/abilities scale up or otherwise remain relevant as you level up, it's much easier to multiclass and still feel like you're getting a fair amount from both classes.
>>
>>47407545
The same rules apply, in fact it would be even simpler in 5e.

They just seem off to me... a little too hunched over. I think they have potential to be some of the cooler 40k models, but they're in dire need of a remodel.
