What tabletop system would be best for playing an over the top, tf2-style game?
GURPS
>>47710524
Any particular books that might help? Or would the core rules be able to adequately cover it?
>>47710509
Fiasco, most likely.
Saying GURPS and then not mentioning what source book to use is a common shitpost on /tg/.
>Step into my game room please
>>47710399
>Not going to get me that easily
>At least place the corner of a One Ring hardback in there as bait
>>47710399
High chance of OP being a murderer aside, that actually looks like a comfy place to play.
Probably pretty badly ventilated though, and you know what they say about fa/tg/uys...
Here is my actual game room. Not an tg/ unrelated art exhibit that has nothing to do with gaming.
So /tg/,this is driving me crazy.
In 3.5,do I need just monkey grip or also wield oversized weapon in order to wield a large greatsword as a medium creature? If it's the latter, what the fuck does monkey grip do actually?
Also can you dual-wield med gsworda with those feats(or can you at all)?
Now I understand why people refer to 3.5 as being incomprehensible.
>>47710238
I haven't read the books in a long time, and I may be getting this mixed up with something else but I thought monkey grip allowed you to used 2 handed weapons in 1 hand.
>>47710238
Well, wield oversized weapon requires monkey grip, BaB 21, and a strength score of 25, so unless you are playing epic levels, don't worry about wield oversized weapon.
Monkey grip lets you wield weapons one size category larger than the character at a -2 attack penalty. Example: A character without this feat treats a large 1h weapon as a 2h weapon, and incures a -2 attack penalty due to its unwieldy nature. With this feat, a character can wield a large 1h weapon as a normal 1h weapon, but still incures the -2 penalty. Similarly, a normal size character cannot wield a large 2h weapon due to it being unwieldy because of the size difference. With this feat, you can wield a large 2h weapon as a medium creature. You still take the -2 attack penalty.
Wield Oversized Weapon takes this a step further by allowing a character to treat a weapon as if it were 1 size category smaller, AND 1 weapon category smaller. Example, the player would treat a Large 2h weapon as a Medium 1h weapon. Monkey grip is overwritten (they do not stack), so normal weapon tracking is applied. This character could wield a Huge 1h weapon as a medium 2h weapon and incure the -2 attack penalty.
>>47710238
As far as i remember, greatswords and great axes are already large scale, that's why you need two hands to use them. They could be used by a large sized creature with one hand.
I think you mean enormous sized weapons
Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light Space Station 13 server.
>What is Space Station 13?
It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors or antagonists (assasain/spy/thief).
>How do I get this game?
You'll need to download the BYOND client. There's games other than SS13, but enter those at your own risk.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
You'll also want a BYOND account, which gives you a ckey so you can save preferences and be recognized by the game. It's highly recommended to make an account if you're experiencing connection issues or don't want to be a fat tourist/starving space bum.
To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below.

>How do I play
Use OOC and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC. There's also wikis deticated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.
>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game or being a dick. Reminder to read the rules in-game.
>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with now pretty much completely custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.
>D20 wiki where?
http://robustvinyl.com/ss13/wiki/
>When does everyone play?
Check out the server pop graph to see when people are playing: http://www.ss13.se/servers/2284/
>Who are these tripfaggots?
Usually admins/coders in the server.

Made this token for a game I'll be playing this sunday online.
>Can't let you do that, cowboy.
Is anybody actually playing this game?
Bumping for interest.
From what I hear, it plays the same or very close, to Bolt Action. Which is super fun. I want to try 40k with the same playstyle.
It's a really good game, more variety and options than 'just scfi bolt action'. It's got that early Rogue Trader feel and look to it.
I like that it has an appeal that isn't just another 40k clone, Rick the father of 40k has made it it's own game. Interesting fluff and what's not to like about a race of darlek crossed tripod warmongers, that's the Ghar for you.
Just wish I had some spare cash for the PDF/eBook version so I could carry it around as the rulebook is a lovely large hardback, but my monies all used on models
Essentially, a group of freinds are going to be running a game. None of them have experience with /tg/ shit, so they're running D&D 4e. As I'm the fag with any /tg/ knowledge I'll be sourcing things for it and advising the GM but otherwise I'm staying out of it.
With that in mind, what should be done for setup?
I sent him a google drive with pdfs of all the official 4e shit and told hit to focus on the adventurer handbook, DM guide and MM for now. What now?
>>47709326
Was in a similar situation a year ago. The best thing to do is just kind of let them figure it out as they go and don't worry to much if things aren't going as they should. Your friends, or at least the ones that care, will learn the rules together and things will hopefully start running more smoothly after.
Cut monster HP in half, double the damage they do.
Make sure every player knows what their own shit does.
Beyond that 4e runs pretty easy
>>47709767
don't do this, just use MM3 monster math
Also, use the character builder if you can get it, and whether you can or can't, avoid the Essentials classes.
The Essentials classes are Knights, Slayers, Thieves, Scouts, Hunters, Binders, Bladesingers, Witches, Sha'ir, Beserkers, Cavaliers, Blackguards and Hexblades
Mages are also technically an Essentials class, but they're honestly fine
What are the 'arms' above the shoulders for on chaos space marines
Pic related
Stabilizer jets
Originally they were flight pack attachments. You can see the regular backpack nozzles on older miniatures.
It gradually changed into the generic style of chaos backpacks because it was a nice visual shorthand separating them from loyalists.
>>47708907
This. After the jet pack thing was dropped it just became the vents for the backpack power plant.
Hi /tg/ I'm trying to get a grip on Eclipse Phase, but I'm having some trouble with the rules. Can you help? Thx.
>1. Seeker/Grenade Size:
So it says that Standard missiles double the damage value, Minimissiles are baseline and Micromissiles do -1d10 damage. But not all ammunition types are meant to deal damage (I.E. Smoke) It says that there should be other listed effects with size but I don't see anything.
On a similar note, how big are these sizes? Are microgrenades and micromissiles literally microscopic? How big is "standard"?
Finally, how long do smoke grenades/seekers last? And better yet, how far is the AoE?
>2. Task Actions:
So lets say you are trying to repair something, and it takes a task action that spends multiple turns. When do you roll? If before and the player fails they take extra time bassed on their Margin of Failure, can they just decide to give up before that? Especially if they are being shot at? Does the GM roll in secret? How does this work?
>3. Exotic Weapons:
There's only one noted in the core book-the Vortex Ring Gun-and even than the information is vague (It doesn't even mention the range of the thing). Where's the other Exotic Weapons? I'd imagine in expansion books right?
>4. Railguns and Silencers:
Apparently you can't put silencers on Railguns... I suppose this would have something to do with the fact that Railguns don't use explosive chemicals to propel the projectile, but it says that the projectile still makes "supersonic crack". Does that mean it's silent or not? I don't get it.
I may have more questions in the future as I keep reading the rules. Again, thanks for the help in advance.
>Non-damage effects grenades/missiles.
Designer oversight, most likely.
Regarding AoE size
>For weapons with a uniform blast effect or other static blast area, divide the base listed radius in half for minigrenades and micromissiles and double it for standard missiles. [pg. 304]
I would suspect that standard grenades/missiles are comperable to the size of a handgrenade, or the rounds of a grenade launcher. Mini I suspect are small enough to be kept in the palm of your hand. I don't think microscopical explosives are a thing in EP.
>Task Actions.
You roll when you start the action. regarding if it's a failure:
>If a character fails on a Task action test roll, they work on the task for a minimum period equal to 10 percent of the timeframe for each 10 full points of MoF before realizing it’s a failure.
The worse they fail, the longer they spend on the taks before realizing it's a failure.
>Exotic Weapons
Exotic weapons are all weapons that don't fall under the other weapon categories. The skills list things like blowguns, crosbows, javelins etc as examples.
Regarding the lack of a range: designer oversight I suspect.
>Railguns and silencers.
You cannot put a silencer on a railgun, but a railgun is not silent.
What a silencer/suppressor does IRL, is slow down the bullet to be low supersonic speeds and reduce the noise of the expanding gasses leaving the barrel via a set of baffled chambers.
A railgun accelerates its projectile through a Lorentz Force driven slide. The noise it makes is the projectile breaking the sound barrier. You could probably mess with a railgun as such that the projectile isn't accelerated to supersonic speed, but by then you negate all the advantages of a railgun.
You better be playing a neotenic.
>>47708451
>Designer oversight, most likely.
So what do I do?
>Regarding AoE size
Where does it talk about uniform AoE? Further more, I still need to know how long smokes/gasses take to spread/dissipate, it doesn't say in the gear section.
>The worse they fail, the longer they spend on the taks before realizing it's a failure.
Ok, but says who? What if the character in question is getting shot at? They're perfectly exposed. Wouldn't you bail on whatever it is you were doing? And wouldn't getting wounded in the process make even a successful test a failure along with extending the test? How long would someone stay and do something while every bullet they take extends how long it will take before they call it quits? It just seems silly.
>Exotic weapons are all weapons that don't fall under the other weapon categories. The skills list things like blowguns, crosbows, javelins etc as examples.
But where are those? I have yet to see any stats on the above mentioned weapons.
>You cannot put a silencer on a railgun, but a railgun is not silent.
Well, at least one question was solved XD
New GM trying to figure out a good way of doing a sort of murder mystery campaign for some friends, was wondering what were some good ways to sow distrust in the party and to make them appear conspicuous to each other.
Also just general GM tips and tricks would be nice.
Have them not know each other in character if you can.
When a player finds a clue, hand them an index card describing what the clue is and who it potentially points to.
The corpse was indeed pummelled before it died, but the wound that did it in was a slice to the throat. Who has slashing weapons? Who has bludgeoning weapons? What could be used to cause the damage nearby? Who could lift it? Who could reach it?
Think it all through well and of course, the most important thing is to have them all be in separate areas when the murder happens or have been away from the group at some point for some reason before the body is discovered and none of the players should find the body.
>>47708059
Don't, try listening to Friday night quests season 5 and their aftermath episode for how to make a mystery adventure.
Hell, just listen to FNQ for pointers on being a better GM
I do an investigation check

That guy did it
Chaos is the most boring aspect of 40K
Everything about WH40K is pretty boring besides the orkz.
It is all edgy try-hard nonsense, but at least the greenskinz are having some fun with it all.
You know what 40k needs? Skaven. A giant space craft modeled off the Doom Wheel, Ratling gun tech updated to the wacky future shit.
>in a universe with unlimited possibilities
>a faction with a infinite scale of options
Maybe you just have a shit imagination.
>>47707996
Chaos is the best.
Good dark fantasy in the dystopian future.
Post characters with disfiguring scars. Not talking about a little scratch or mosquito bite, post stuff that really ruined their day.
Bonus if not an orc.

Damn Ultramarines, stop trying to have more golden eagles than me REEEEEEEE!
If older artwork is anything to go by Custodes will get axes too.
>>47707697
There has been a huge misunderstanding here, cousin. Let me axe you a question. They're pretty stylish, legatinite?
The Traitor Legions had to purge from their ranks any Marines that stayed loyal to the Emperor. Did the Loyalist Legions have similar issues, having to purge Marines in their ranks that turned traitor?
>>47707333
Of course not, little citizen of the imperium, what could even make you doubt the loyalty of the loyal loyalists?

Of course.
