What if Alpharius/Omegon hadn't decided that trusting the Cabal was just the best decision ever and had sided with the Emperor? How would this have changed the Horus Heresy? How would it have effected the Imperium later on? Would it have really changed anything at all, reallyy?

Well judging from the shitty plotline that being stuck in the golden throne was Big E's plan ALLLL ALONG YOU GUIS! Probably not.

Realistically, all the Traitor Primarchs and most of their command structure are blown the fuck up by a fusion warhead carried by a Alpharius lookalike at Istavvan V when they're having a big strategy meeting or something, and the Salamanders, Iron Hands, and Raven Guard show up to find the traitor legions leaderless and slaughtering one another in a AL fueled witch hunt.

I think people might be overestimating how effective the Alpha Legion is as infiltration,

I mean, they only really went after the Ultramarines in canon during the Horus Heresy and they didn't manage to do all that much.

I don't think they'd just be able to just end the betrayal at Istavvan V with no effort. I could see them pretending to join the traitors and then turning on them during the Siege of Terra, however.

Are close combat titans worth the points?
26 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
>>47721401

They don't even make sense in-setting, why would they be worth anything?

Titans exist only to bring Capital-ship grade weaponry to the surface of a planet and mount it on a mobile profile with as little a horizontal coverage as possible.
>>
>>47721401

Given that titans are usually target priority #1 in any game they're in, I would imagine that a melee-oriented one would typically face one of two situations:

1. Get destroyed before they get into melee range, be it to melta-spamming infantry, shooty Titans, etc.

2. Manage to get into melee range, but are so heavily damaged by that point that they don't accomplish much before dying anyways.

3. Fight in a game against an opponent who happens to be fielding another melee superheavy, in which case, all is (possibly) well.

As you can see, a melee titan doesn't face the best odds in most games.

>>47721648
This anon has the right idea. The best use for titans is as huge, mobile gun platforms.

Hey /tg/, I'm in a bind. I'm running a session tomorrow afternoon for members of the stalker general in /vg/. I got caught up doing some shit after work and only have the barest outline of tomorrow's session. I could really use some location + anomaly/artifact/mutant/inorganism ideas, or just general set pieces. If anyone has anything to suggest I'd appreciate it. I have the PDF if anyone needs it.

MtG is unbalanced. There needs to be more blue counter cards.

>>
>>47719892
Yeah, but WotC thinks that control and combo are "bad", and "toxic to the community".

So Blue is only gonna get shitty Cancel or worse cards. No Counter....

Okay /tg/, I've gone full autismo and decided to get into a miniatures game. Sell me on your favorite one.

I'll play anything if its good enough, but here are some considerations:
>can easily scrounge up $100-$150 to start with
>no friends willing to jump in with me as well atm, a strong community is a must
>prefer minimal downtime unless the opponents turn is interesting enough
>like to be able to interact with/ respond to opponents

Anything else you can provide me with, such as beginners painting guides or supplies recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Oh an I guess this can be a general too.

X-Wing probably fits this best. All the rest either have no community, or the ones that do (Warmahordes, 40k) can be started for $150 but easily balloon in price and may end up with long inactive times (40k especially as you take turns playing).

Infinity fits well but isn't as popular as these 3 games.

>>47719688
>no friends willing to jump in with me as well atm, a strong community is a must

go down to your flgs and see what they're playing then, we can't really tell you this
>>

>>47719841
Both of these are the best answer I can really picture, you really have to give us some idea of what's popular in your region.

That said, Infinity absolutely fits the bill from what I've played.

Hi /tg/, I have kind of a silly question.
I remember playing d&d a long time ago and me and my brother had a running joke, where, if you rolled a 1 or some low value while attacking an enemy it meant, "ohhh you fucked up really hard" (even though the low roll didn't have a meaningful impact on the outcome of the attack because we weren't taking it that seriously.)
Now, I basically understand that you could contrive some way of determining an "extra-bad" outcome of an event if someone rolled poorly or made a series poor rolls for a skill check in some given context.
However, I was thinking of Arthur Dayne from GoT as an example, since I guess he's intended as "a really good swordsman"etc, and was wondering if you would as a ref allow him to make some incredibly clumsy mistake in a fight (like he accidentally flung his sword away and it hit his mother in the eye even though she wasn't there) if his character happened to roll poorly? Or, in other words, where do you "draw the line" for determining what's possible/impossible for a skill check given a specific context? Would you refuse to allow something like to happen if you felt it was immersion breaking? Or, on the contrary, would you go out of your way to make an outcome as outlandish as this seem plausible to your players?

Sorry if that's not clear at all or just stupid, I'm excited to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

>>
/tg/ tends to hate fumbles on 1s (along with critical successes on skill checks).

Think of it this way. A trained but novice swordsman, making 1 attack per turn, has a 5% chance of rolling a 1 and hurting himself. And a highly skilled swordsman, making 5 attacks per turn, has a 25% chance of rolling a 1 and fumbling an attack? That's ridiculous.
>>
>>47719457
This. Its already enough that the incredibly skilled swordsman already failed their swing against an easy target, but forcing them to stab themselves in the foot or whatever is just retarded.
>>
So you would say, in that case, that rolling a 1 was (presumably) just an unsuccessful attack with no special significance attached to it?

Okay, so we're an Iron Hands successor, founded in the 40th Millenium, on a Crusade. We hate Heretics and have a tendency to destroy everything. Being an IH descendant, we have a fondness for bionics but we’re not as manic about it as our predecessor.

Our Occulobes are oversensitive, which gives us 'night vision' but makes it hard for us to see in 'daylight', but are otherwise fine mutation-wise. Because of this Bionic Eyes are the most common augmentation to be seen in our chapter.

One of our old Chapter-Masters was a fucking badass who led many glorious campaigns and slayed countless foes of the Emperor... until, for reasons unknown to us, he was slain along with a significant portion out our chapter by the Officio Assassinorum, leaving us understrength.

Our Homeworld is a Feral Desert world, called Kerakion, that we really only bother with when we need something/something important happens, otherwise we let the Planetary Governor run it for us. Most of our Space Marines come from Kerakion, but we use some other feral worlds for recruitment too.

We diverge from the Codex Astartes a bit, but not too much, and specialize in Terror tactics. We have a special fighting style (general consensus is that we use dual chain-axes, though that could still change) which helps us with that, possibly helped along by our buddies in the Admech.

We venerate the Emperor above all, like any good Imperial Citizen should, and have an immense hatred for the Emperor's Children, especially one particular EC-led warband, called the Scions of Lust, that we slaughtered at one point. Unfortunately enough members escaped to reform the Warband with new recruits - most of the survivors were Emperor’s Children, who are much more resistant to our terror tactics than the mortal cultists.

TL;DR We’re a loyalist Iron Hands descendant who act like a mix between the World Eaters and the Night Lords, with a hateboner for the Emperor’s Children.
>>
>[Still Unnamed Chapter]'s Tactics

>The [Insert Name Here] are a lesser-known descendant of the Iron Hands, known primarily for slaughter of their slaughter of the Scions of Lust, a Slaaneshi-worshipping Chaos warband led by some Emperor's Children traitor marines, during the Battle of Mytus V.

>The [Insert Name Here] are usually recruited from Feral Worlds, especially their Homeworld of Kerakion, a harsh Desert planet that spends half the year locked in day and the other half locked in night due to it's rather bizarre orbit around it's system's star. Because of this, their armour is often decorated with primitive trinkets, such as the remains of their enemies, with the purpose of intimidation.

>While the trinkets probably help, the primary reason the [Insert Name Here] are so effective in inducing terror into their enemies comes down to their habits of forcing their enemies to fight them in the dark where they have an advantage, their brutal fighting style, their relationship with the Adeptus Mechanicus usually allowing them to get bionics specifically crafted with intimidation in mind and other associated tactics that were definitely not inspired/taken from records of the Night Lords, because that would be heresy..

Desire to play behaves like a perfect gas, and will expand to fill all available schedule space if permitted.

Eventually available time will contract, and you will then find yourself short on time for mundane socializing and necessary chores/drudgery of living, and have to start bowing out of them until you return to a more feasible level..

Nothing. All she's interested in is making scarabs. She's no threat so move on.
>>
>>47707413
Which is exactly the attitude that made her a threat.

One of her exploits was creating a shit load of mind-shackle scarabs and dumping them on a nice civilized Imperial world.

Next thing you know she owns a planet with 6 billion inhabitants with a technology base just slight ahead of ours.

But true to form she fucked up the mind-shackles and instead of it borging them it just made them believe she was the Empress.

Tribute was demanded and paid in the form of delicious candy.

Ain't seen one of these in awhile. Our gaming group has been playing with print out cards and bootleg rule books. After buying the sun stalker Xpac, I couldn't deal with playing a nigger rigged version so I bit the bullet and bought one online.

So many questions!

1) Is it even worth magnetizing shit? I hear it makes the models look like tarded action figures, but it would be cool to be able to switch out weapons.

2) How many of you have dared to paint anything?

3) Should I definitely get card sleeves?

4) What home-brew rules have you made? I see a lot of tweaking for Plague events and Survival of the fittest online.

5)Why aren't there regular KD threads? Is everyone too busy playing?

1) I magnetized a few, its alright. I don't care tok much to keep doing it.

2) I did, will post later. its not good. pls forgive when I post.

3) Probably.

4) We add murder and plague later on and also we kind of roleplay our characters. In the first fight since no on knew how to speak we mimed. not a houserule but surprisingly fun.

5) I think there's just not much to talk about, I wish there were more threads.

This will be a combat-focused game (though not necessarily 100% combat-focused) wherein you invade Hell, battle legions of devils, and fight every unique devil on d20pfsrd.com. Asmodeus has gone missing, an extremely powerful angel has taken his place, and the angel has sent out a call challenging heroes to take the throne from him.

25 point buy. Roll for hit points or take the average, but you must decide beforehand. No Unchained rules. Third-party material (e.g. Dreamscarred Press) is looked upon leniently.

Characters are supposed to be CR 20 (yes, CR) and can be built from any combination of class levels, monster races (25 point buy applies, not the ++4, +4, +2, +2, +0, and –2 array), templates (e.g. Agile mythic template), mythic tiers, and PC/NPC wealth.

Im willing to help any player learn the character generation system and any rules the game has.
This would be my first time GMing this system so don't expect the best.
This should be considered a one-shot at first but if it goes well we could make it a weekly thing.
