It's a running gag that in D&D 3.5e, a common housecat is capable of wrecking the average commoner, but to what degree is it actually ridiculous? Cats are generally timid creatures that would rather avoid humans unless trained, in which case they're generally pleasant pets. However, if we assume an unarmed commoner is faced with a cat that's REALLY dedicated to wrecking his shit, how much damage would the common housecat be able to inflict? Is it possible, even if only theoretically, for a housecat to kill an adult human?

Well, going by oWoD rules the answer is: a lot.
>>
About this much before the human basically wrecks the cat's shit by grabbing it and beating it against a wall a couple of times.
>>
>Cats are generally timid creatures
>they're generally pleasant pets
OP confirmed for never owing a cat or actually being a cat.

What's the pont of adding more tiers of rarity, and how long can it go on?
A card needs to be printed at least once or else it doesn't exist, so there's definitely a limit.

Usually there's around five levels of rarity. In magic they are:
>Commons
>Uncommons
>Rares
>Mythics
>Unique (Example: 1996 World Champion).

When time travel becomes a thing, we will send cards into the past so we have no way of actually knowing if they exist anymore by the time it is present day, meaning the chance of somebody obtaining it is even lower than 1 in however many cards there are.

Weapon are tricky, i don't think destroyers need a placeholder melee weapon as you can shoot range weapon while still in combat.

As for the cult of mars, could always break the usual melee range group them and put them together by left arm right arm

An opponent controls a chains of mephistopheles. I cast banishing light, it resolves, trigger resolves exiling chains of mephistopheles. Someone casts the Great Aurora. What does the result look like?
>>
>>47692609
>>47692609
Everyone shuffles their hand and all permanents they own into their library; this will include your Banishing Light, and the second it's gone from the board the duration of "until Banishing Light leaves the battlefield" ends and the Chains comes back. THEN you all go to draw cards equal to the number you shuffled away, except Chains of Mephistopheles is there. So, as you try to draw a card you must discard a card instead. You cannot, since your hand is empty, so you will mill 1. Repeat.

tl;dr shuffle your hand and all permanents you own into your library, then mill that many cards.

I crunched some numbers and it turns out that the tiny shop across from where I live that stays open 4 days out of the week has got to be costing GW at least 5000 a month. (15 dollars an hour 40 hours a week for single manager and at least 2500 for 1000-2000 sq. feet of store space)

I can't imagine that store having more than 10-20 regular customers since it only has three tables, and I can't see them pulling in more than 500-800 dollars a week. (averaging maybe 50-80 dollars a week per costumer)

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised they manage to stay in business. I'm starting to think that they named their business after their store managers yearly salary, hence the recent drop to 30k...

Games Workshop stores are a good idea IMHO. They bite the bullet that other FLGS can't bite by (im my case) opening a store in the downtown where no other place could open(since the rent is absurd). I've played a couple of games in that store and I see new faces constantly coming in because of the big space marine and asking wtf are we doing. (That's how I started a couple of months ago)

They're keeping the hobby alive.
>>
>>47691508

Yes, the bricks and mortar stores eat most of the money that GW brings in. In the pre-internet era they were a perfectly viable business strategy, but not any more. They account for about half of all sales, but more than half the expenses (not counting the development and manufacturing costs of the miniatures themselves), and a lot more than half of the employees. I personally believe that if GW is to thrive in the long-term, they will need to divest themselves of their stores.

people need a place to play, and they can't do that at home.

I just don't see how they manage to turn a profit at all, is what I'm saying.

models look very very nice (some of them). but the game system ? is it any good ? do you like it ? i hate that the scale is a bit off and doesn't fit with normal 28mm terrain.

It's my favorite game. Cards as RNG eliminates a bit of the randomness since you can see every card only once before reshuffling. The majority of objectives don't require killing, you can actually win after getting tabled. You build your crew after knowing the objectives, so you can change things up between games and netlisting is practically nonexistent.

And, of course, the models and fluff are great.

Sure, how else was I supposed to get information about my kidnapped sister if not by freezing his limbs with magic until the nerves died and then making him watch while I took a hammer and slowly worked my way up?

Like they say, dead men tell no tales.

When I GM I like throwing those types of problems at players. Our usual group has a history of just being killcrazy idiots. Forcing them to take someone (who had previously fucked them over) alive or better yet; putting them in a situation where it'd behoove them to release the enemy unscathed is a great way to force them to think. They usually end up killing them anyway and dealing with the consequences (literally 4 jailbreaks in one campaign) but at least it gives a moment's pause.

something i've always wondered, are those pumpkins edible ? i've been under the impression that the modern halloween pumpkins are inedible and just for decoration (save for the seeds, that i know some people roast and eat)

is the "old time" pumpkin a different kind? has there always been another sort of pumpkin that you actully eat(such as butternut) only that the image of pumpkins has been overtaken by the inedible ones or am i infact, wrong, and the modern "halloween" pumpkins are actully totally edible?

What are good cataclysmic or immediately compelling events to start a campaign off in a way that immediately gets your party's attention?

Something that avoids the mundane quality of starting them off in a tavern, and giving them a basic fetch/enemy clearing quest, or trying to railroad them to follow a certain path for the purposes of a larger plot? Something that just throws a larger plot at them, and challenges them to deal with it in whatever way they can.

It's good, but I would want a way to fit it into the campaign's larger plot.
Start of a war between the volcanic god, and the god of the sky?
Magically induced eruption to take out a castle full of political figures?

How would one go about in making combat in a very low magic setting (like ASoIaF or LOTR) fun? I'm thinking about starting a world like that, but without healers and mages to switch-up terrain or crazy gnome gadgets it seems like combat might get too boring. Perhaps I should make combat really challenging and unforgiving so that my players would avoid it (like any person would do if their universe didn't have healers or priests that would ressurrect you)?
