"ATEEEEEEENSHUUUUUN!" Grampa shouts loudly, still looking a little green from his earlier, accidental poisoning. The sea breeze makes the end of his duster dance behind him as he stares down at Baldrick and the other marines guarding the now out and about rich idiots.
They stare up at him like he's a new landmark, and start taking pictures of him, before he steps behind me and Ochamu with a sweet little smirk, clearing his throat before he continues with his speech.
"I am in command here now" He says sternly "I'm sure you're used to not having to think much beyond where to shoot or swing, maybe at all, but now you'll have to listen to me"
Baldrick frowns and sighs, shaking his chains as he leans back near jeb to look up at him, the old merc smiling happily as Wanko makes silly faces at the crowd bellow.
"You may notice a few more...older bulls among your green horns, if you cannot hear me, listen to them, most of those boys have been under my command since I took to the seas, their judgment is sound, and they have more experience than all but one of you"
I watch my old timer slowly look down at Jeb and smirk just a bit wider, as Jack leans over his shoulder, which grandad doesn't seem to notice or care about it.
"Now, if this does not go as I see it going" he says calmly, holding his arms behind his back "I expect you to hold the line against whatever comes, too the last man if we must to protect the innocent dwellers of this island, But I don't think that it'll come to that, so get some coffee, maybe some sweets you can scarf down behind barricades...the works really"
"Don't scare the men, Mr De'terrar" Baldrick says flatly
"Fear is the best motivator, well besides love" Grampa says with a chuckle as some of his men do the same "and I was being serious you know, never know what misfortune

Welcome everyone, new and old players alike! This is Tundra civ, a civ thread series in a fictional, non-fantasy setting where you play as the rulers of the White Republic, a nation in a world similar to our own.
Check out the pastebin for story, technologies, stats etc (updating it right now)
http://pastebin.com/t7gWa2pa
And an archive of previous threads if you want to skim through some of them.
http://archive.4plebs.org/_/search/boards/pol.tg/subject/Civ/username/Civ%20bulgar/page/1/
Previously on Tundra civ:
The nations of the Occidental Axis continue their war against the Organisation and its metal armies. The Spirelords have taken the God-Emperor of the Kaichou hostage and have retreated to the Eye of Sand. The combined Axis forces have rushed to stop whatever it is the enemy is doing and now we stand at the edge of a massive complex, from which we are detecting enormous energy readings.
What lies within that complex?
General Malhus, along with the elite 1st Army is standing at the edge of the Complex, having broken through the automatons' defence lines.
He personally commands 80 000 of our best men, with 700 tanks, 1400 combat vehicles and 300 helicopters.
What orders will we give the General?
A.Pull back for now and rejoin the rest of the forces - his position is vulnerable and is at risk of getting cut off
B.Hold his position until further reinforcements arrive
C.Enter the complexCurrent military equipment is roughly at late Vietnam War-levels against an advanced enemy that uses robot armies
>>47725364
i'm here
>C.Enter the complex
Malhus is a trusted general, he'll surely bring favorable results.
and 700 tanks isn't a small force

Is it weird to use one of these at the table?
Seems like it would solve my problem of dice always falling on the fucking floor.
>>47717695
you do you buddy
Roll dice into a tray, use a dice tower, use that cup, it doesn't matter. It's personal flair and anybody giving you weird looks will stop when they roll a die underneath the sofa across the room
Which one is the better dice system?
>>47706543
d10 dice pools
"THE" d20 System is a plain shitty and obsolescent system.
Other than that: There are a lot of ways to make resolution mechanics with D20 and D100 and the D20 can often be functionally identical to the D100.
Frankly, unless you really really really need to use lots of %-Tables with <5% entries, there's no point in using a D100 over a D20. DMs rarely use any steps smaller than 5%, so you might as well shorten the process.

MY NIGGA
Ever had a tryhard goth(boy or girl, doesn't matter) at your table?
How well did they do?
Back in highschool I played D&D a few times with this goth chick who only ever played elf druids or elf rangers, and always had a wolf animal companion. She was pretty bad at roleplaying but wasn't disruptive, just bland, and always played the exact same character.
Out of the game she was tiresome to hang out with because she was a lazy environmentalist -- she'd talk for hours about how important the environment is and how it's bad to litter and how we shouldn't walk on the grass, but then she'd go home and play PS2 games for six hours straight and eat a bag of chips.
I fucked her much hotter cousin who was also a better roleplayer.
I'm gunna need you to be a bit more clear with that question...
Is the person in question trying hard to be goth?
Is the person in question trying hard to RP as a goth?
Is the person in question a goth who is a try hard when it comes to RP?
Do their aesthetic preferences really even relate to how well they do in a game?
>>47669996
I have a goth as one of my regulars, she plays dread necromancers, warlocks, vampires, Abyssals, the kind of shit you'd expect, and she can get a little moody and can have a short fuse sometimes, but when it's her night for snacks she shows up with like 3 pizzas, or something she baked herself. She makes sure to get the kinds of soda everyone likes, she's always 100% involved in the game, and doesn't mind people staring at her cleavage, which is ALWAYS on display.

Tell me about your vilest act of betrayal, Jumpers. Who or what did you break faith with, and for what price?
Was it worth it?
So, whose side are you on?
>>47717671
Sides? They're both pretty dumb and dogmatic, aren't they? Nah, I'm...going to be the equivalent of whatever a Rogue Trader is in Star Wars. So, Han before meeting the gang basically?
I don't watch a lot of star wars.
Didn't see one up, so here we go! No theme needed, but I am on the lookout for shamans, rangers, and spiritual/magical robots.
>>47717253
Seconding the request for spiritual/magical robots. I'm about to start a campaign based on the world of Hyper Light Drifter sort of mashed up with Journey (the game, not the band), some Nausicaa, all that good stuff.
Anything science-fantasy would be great.
>Wizard, here are hundreds of fun and interesting mechanics to choose from! Build your spellbook! Expect support in every supplement! Oooh, ahhh, look at these cool abilities!
>Fighter, here's +1 to hit.
Why.
I posted it again!!!1!1!! LOL
>>47717098
I never posted this thread before.
>>47717082
>Why.
Because Fighters are people who have trained their minds and bodies to stand the rigors of combat and are thus able to carry the burden of armor while still being effective at swinging pointy/stabby/clubby objects.
Wizards are people who have trained their minds and bodies to channel the primordial forces of the universe and manifest it as a means to break the laws of physics.
Eberron was a pretty neat campaign setting that took the wackiness of DnD tried to make it sort of work in a semi-coherent world.
Most everywhere I've seen, people (me included) seem to like it and enjoy it.
I've heard there are people that hate it, though? What gives? I can understand not being into it, since while it's a different variation on 'fantasy kitchen sink', it's still a fantasy kitchen sink, but I don't really get why someone can HATE it.
It's too silly/magical/andworstofallsteampunkish for me.
I honestly love it.
Run a half dozen campaigns in it, all with different big events that never cross and completely separate from the others.
I never got why people like>>47717054 saw it as steam punk as it has next to no steam punk in lore and lets you make up what the tech looks like.
What do you usually focus on during campaigns op? I never did anything with the war besides backdrop for the campaign, usually focusing on dungeon delving and exploring.
>>47717027
They're short sighted.
Some people don't WANT PCs to have magic, and act like it's some travesty for people to expect it.
I dunno why.
Also, Eberron thread?
I am looking to start a Chaos Space Marine army, themed around the Word Bearers. While I have a general list, I was wondering if I could get some advice on my army list.
HQ:
Dark Apostle
-VotLW
-Mark of Khorne
-The Black Mace
Troop:
Chaos Space Marines
+15 Marines
-CCW
-Plasma Pistol
-Plasma Pistol
-Flamer
-Flamer
-Mark of Khorne
-Icon of Wrath
Chaos Space Marines
-Meltagun
Rhino
-Havoc Launcher
Chaos Space Marines
-Meltagun
Rhino
-Havoc Launcher
Heavy Support:
Chaos Predator
-Heavy Bolters
-TL-Lascannon
Chaos Predator
-Heavy Bolters
-TL-Lascannon
Total: 1,067
Basically the idea is the put the Apostle in the blog of Chaos Marines and send them charging to w/e and have the Rhino Marines sit on objectives, Predators for a mix of vehicle/unit shooting.
inb4 CSM are bad
>>47717013
If you want honest, legit advice, here you go.
Dark Apostles aren't that great. You're honestly better off with a Chaos lord, and if you're going to give him a mark of khorne you want an Axe of Blind Fury.
Plasma Pistols are expensive and not worth the points. Just drop them.
I'd probably put Dirge Casters on the Rhinos instead of Havoc launchers.
Predators, I find are best as Annihilators; heavy bolter sponsons and the TL autocannon. Punishes light armour, mows through infantry as well.
The main issue you're going to have is you're slogging 15 CSM across the field, who aren't fast and aren't more durable than normal marines. One Battle Cannon will remove half that squad in an instant. The tactic just isn't that viable.
You've got a decent mix of anti armour, but your army doesn't have any actual punch, or any decent range for that matter.
My 2 cents.
>>47717106
>slogging
He's got Rhinos.
Have you ever found love at the table?
>>47716933
Nope. Only the clashing of egos and hurting of feelings.
Yeah, but it didn't work out.
I wanted one chick but I wasn't sure if she was into me yet (she was).
So I dated another one, took her virginity, then broke up when we found out she had some serious issues. Like compulsively puking a few hours after sex.
Anyway then I dated the other one but I was kind of an asshole moving too fast and she had a lot going on in her life so she broke it off.
Still, got dat virginity too. feels good.
Yeah, but she's asian not black.
I don't think black girls are into tabletop.
You're hiking through the woods at night and you suddenly hear an enchanting, soft, and melancholy song coming from nearby. You follow the sound until you find this performing for the dead beneath the pale moonlight.
