Hello /tg/. Recently I've been working on an RPG in which you play as "tacticool operators" in the style of Call of Duty and similar games. Basically over-the-top weapon attachments and tacticool gear, slaying terrorists and rogue nations in super-explosive-packed missions, that sort of thing. As I say in the intro:

I know Ops and Tactics exist but I wanted this to be a bit more rules-light and a lot less serious. It is based off of a game one of my friends made that was kind of similar but was a complete mess. It had some cool ideas like disposable one shot pistols and what not, but there were opposed rolls for literally every attack and the stats were literally useless (-2 to +2 in a d20 mechanic) so I decided to try to make my own game.
What do you guys think?

Go ahead OP. Write as long as you got that sweet inspiration. My tip for a rules lite game with firearms: don't do range, or do it very simple. Make every campaign either Close quarters combat so that all low range firearms do their job well or long range combat where noone has a weapon that wont work. You feel me?

Three round burst looks really underwhelming to use, especially when automatic gives multiple attacks.
I'd recommend making bursts just have lower recoil values.

Alright, listen up! It turns out that the Ork that tried to kill the Admiral did more than just attack the bridge. He also damaged several key components that the ships machine spirits need to continue working.
The bad news is, the agri world below doesn't have the necessary parts to repair us. The good news is, there's a nearby ship that does. But there's worse news...

Usually mondays at 4PM GMT, but they sometimes extend to Tuesdays if we got caught in the middle of something when the thread died and it was too late to make another one the same day.

Sure, just think of a character and have fun, you can find most info in 1d4chan albeit it's ussually a little bit out of date in comparison to where the threads are.

Not really, we've had Xeno infiltrators, Chaos infiltrators, Villains, Heroes, Normal Guardsmen, Crazed Guardsmen, Assassins, Psykers, Space Marines, Inquisitors, Squats... just think whathever and join the fun.

Yes as long as you don't use it to powerplay.
>So how you guys do the playan'?
We tend to use spoilers for OOC chat, but nothing is set in stone.
We tend to use greentexts for describing a character's actions, but again nothing is set in stone.
Use d20s for combat checks and d100s for other things you want to roll, higher Is better.
It's important to know that the regiment is now in the employ of a radical Ordo Xenos Inquisitor, with influence from an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor and under the watch of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor. Yes we've been through a lot of shit.

So while the Admiral goes and takes a shuttle to go get his promotion, we're going to board the damned thing with a bunch of Tech-priest and Enginseers. And then we're going to rip and tear our GOD DAMN WAY THROUGH THAT SHIP until we get the parts we need!

i like to imagine high elves as being the most human like, just taller and with pointy ears (standard tolkienian affair). wood elves have aspects of them of animal physiology, for example goat-like pupils and sharp teeth.
on top of that i reckon dark elves would be the ugliest motherfuckers. blind, bat-faced, kinda like those cave monsters from The Descent but with nicer clothes.

If you want to do something unique, tiny helpful folklore elves are underutilized in RPGs.

US: The big dog. Huge military, huge economy, nuclear arsenal, and two votes on the UN Security Council if you count their satellite the rump United Kingdom of England-Wales-and-Northern-Ireland.
China: No.1 on the East Side.
India: Doing better now that Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal is decommissioned, but stability is still in issue in the world’s most populous country (more people than China as of 2030).
France: The pride of Europe. Oversized military boosted by a military alliance with similarly punchy Italy, independent nuclear arsenal not provided by those dirty Americans, preferential trade with most of Europe.
Japan: Remilitarized for the South China Sea conflict but ended up actually using those capabilities (including an independent nuclear deterrent) in the 2nd Korean War. Economically in shambles and on their way out due to what able-bodied people they have mostly being in the military.
Russia: Still limping along, thanks to a better trade situation for them in a post-EU Europe and the reformist authoritarianism of the Young Guard, who oustered the old United Russia mandarins.
Korea: The rising giant. Unified and nuclear armed coming out of the Second Korean War and already a great power despite still rebuilding and being on rationing. Despite the fact that the Japanese nuclear device only detonated in what was then psychotic North Korea, the fact all the same has increased their already strong hatred of Japan to fanatical levels.
Germany: Whereas the UK and Italy get their nuclear weapons and economic stability from the US and France respectively, Germany has no such weapons but is an independent economic powerhouse trying to hold the line in Europe and stop Franco-Russian meddling in the affairs of the independent nation-states.

The mechanics ranged from neat to okay, but the setting was pretty much blah. It ended up feeling like generic fantasy except with different words for what did the generic fantasy stuff. Once the glow of "I'm not casting a spell, I'm using nanites to manufacture a fireball" type stuff wore off, it got boring fast. I feel like if they weren't trying to keep the warrior, wizard, rogue thing going on, they would have been able to create better balance and fluffy rules for the game that made it not feel so dull after playing for a short while.

I've been thinking of running Barbarian 1 / Battle Master Fighter X. Unarmored or medium armor might be an issue but the concept feels cool. Rage and the moves from Battle Master. R8 H8

It's not a big investment and it has nice returns, so why not?
It's a lot more dramatic if you put 3 or 5 levels into a class.
Level 5 barbarian multiclass is good for any non-caster melee user that doesn't get multi-attack. Which isn't what you'd want, since you're a fighter.
