Honest question /tg/: would quarter-elves be genetically possible?

Inb4 "It's fantasy, anything is possible". If an elven race would exist and the resulting offspring between an elf and a human is always a half-elf, would the offspring between a human and a half-elf be a quarter elf?
And for that matter, would three-quarter-elves be possible?

My genetic biology is very rusty, but I'd guess if a human (H/H) and a half-elf (H/E) would breed, you'd get 75% on another (H/H) and 25% chance on (H/E). But I might be an idiot on the subject, it's been a while since I studied this.

All "humanoid" species would genetically be considered "human" by today's modern science, and racial "traits" are just homogenous within "pure" populations.

As for the quarter bit, you seem to be asuming that all the elven traits are single-allele, which is just silly. Partial dominance+multi-allele traits make quarter-elves fully possibly.e
>>
Sure, it's fantasy, anything is possible

Who says their genetics work identically to ours?
>>
Half-elves were a mistake. They add nothing but confusion to any setting. It's just something that Tolkien did and other authors copied without reading Tolkien. Drop the idea entirely, you gain nothing from it.

Not sure if this is a troll thread, but I'll bite.

I've always taken how well a GM handles randomness as a good measurement for how a game will go.

When someone has house rules that a 20 is just an instant kill or a 1 means you instantly hurt yourself for your attack damage, it's a sign that they don't understand balance or the intention of the rules.
>>
>>48895651
This. Maybe your character is just an arrogant asshole instead of a true master.

I think at some point in Imperial history, Magnetic weapons were common place. Though they might have fell out of favor to the easy logistics of the Lasgun.

How would you stat an Archeotech Magrifle for Dark Heresy?

What else do you think is a lost weapon of the imperium, chilling out in a STC fragment?

That book's full of great stuff

A small room that, once you enter, immediately locks behind you.
The room is covered in holes, and inside each of these holes is a spike. The only notable feature besides that is a plinth, atop which rests an hourglass and a button. The button resets the hourglass.

Once the hourglass has run down completely, the door opens again.

Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light Space Station 13 server.

>What is Space Station 13?
It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors (assassin/spy/thief).

>How do I play?
You'll need to download the BYOND client. There's games other than SS13, but enter those at your own risk.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
You'll also want a BYOND account, which gives you a ckey so you can save preferences and be recognized by the game. It's highly recommended to make an account if you're experiencing connection issues or don't want to be a fat tourist/starving space bum.

To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below.
byond://76.16.8.127:28014 OR byond://d20station.ddns.net:28014

>How do I play
Use OOC (backspace say" in the bottom, type OOC and hit enter) and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC. There's also wikis dedicated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.

>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game or being a dick. Reminder to read the rules in-game.

>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with mostly custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.

I feel injecting a patient with inaprovaline really takes away all sense of urgency. Injecting a critical patient gives you all the time in the world to bring them back from the brink of death.
Pilcrow had a good idea where inaprovaline increases metabolism rate the longer it is in a patient's system. I'm also considering some overdose thing or just an adverse effect on inaprovaline.

Thoughts?

I keep hearing a lot of good things about this game, but whenever I try to experimentally download it and read some I get overwhelmed by the... "weirdness" of it and can't make it past the first chapter. I've made it through Noumenon, I've made it through Normality, I've made it through Don't Rest Your Head, but this thing just might be too much for me.

So for that end: can you please EXPLAIN Nobilis to me in human terms? I don't know if I'm just that stupid or the book is truly horrendously written but I just really can't make any up or down of it. An explanation may REALLY help.

Bump.

>>
>>48897094
The book is truly, horrendously written and laid out.

The concept:
Your OC suddenly and for no reason inhabits a universal concept and becomes one of the Nobilis, the "gods" of the universe. The concepts you inhabit can be anything - god of balloons, god of fire, god of cold coffee, whatever. You get your own extradimensional domain and a suite of godlike abilities. Then you and some other cringeworthy OCs go on adventures.

It's diceless, so contests are resolved using reserves of godly power. Those with more can do more, always.

That's it.

>This is a Naruto Quest that takes place during the events of canon. You play a young genin in Naruto's generation, the events of the world differ slightly to canon but you'll find out more on that later. You play as Hitashi Hyuga, heir to the clan and this is your story as you go through the naruto storyline as your own hero.

It is the morning after you sealed your sister as a member of the branch house, she's already left the house when you awake. Your father has decided to end your personal training, you have access to the Hyuga shrine for your personal growth in the clans ways and you have Might Guy as a teacher. I have stumbled across the fact the the Imperium has a slow but steady decline in technology.

The question is Why?

I mean the humans are at least from the basic biological build up the same as we are.

Souldn't they strive and invent and build new things?

It would certainly benefit the Imperium and the Emperor.

Admech does. It just goes though an assload of testing, checking, and red tape because the threat of it doing bad shit like opening a rift to the warp is real.
>>
>>48896878
No, it doesn't.

The Admech codex states "

>Ultimately, though, the Cult’s citadels of knowledge are built upon a foundation of lies. The ability to truly innovate has long been lost, replaced with a reverence for the times when Humanity was the architect of its own destiny. No longer the master of its creations, the Cult Mechanicus is enslaved to the past. It maintains the glories of yesteryear with rite, dogma and edict instead of discernment and comprehension. Even the theoretically simple process of activating a weapon is preceded by the application of ritual oils, the burning of sacred resins and the chanting of long and complex hymns. And yet so long as the process works – or rather, so long as the Cult’s armies can obliterate those who displease them – the Tech-Priests are content to tread the slippery path toward entropy and ignorance.

-The 7th ED Cult Mech dex

Humanity lost the ability to truly innovate thousands upon thousands of years ago. This is mostly due to the doctrine of the Admech that suppresses innovation for no reason.

The whole inventing stuff inherently spawns daemons is a false wankery by the fans.

Can any fa/tg/uys redpill me on dungeon world? My friend just suggested we try it out but I mainly see it used in shit posting here. Is that warranted? Or just a coincidence? Is it a fun game?

> Is it a fun game?
depends

So basically Dungeon World is neckbearded nostalgia for AD&D before it became simulationist in 3.x.

Pros:
- easy and intuitive to set up and play.
- gaining XP from failing rolls is pretty interesting
- lots of interesting party interaction dynamics

Cons:
- very few options and very lite on rules
- very little granularity (e.g. the TN for hitting anything is the same)

So, it's akin to a rules-lite version of D&D where it's more focused on the dungeon delving to allow for more organic roleplaying rather than being a system capable of handling many diverse situations.

I personally don't like it, but I'm an autist who liked 3.0's city population system, and I can understand why people could enjoy Dungeon World, for sure.
>>
>>48889809

Narrative bullshit. If you want something simple and generic (generic as in 'can be used to run just about any setting) try Savage Worlds.
