okay so I'm just starting up learning how l5r works and i wanted an obsidian sword so that time spent in the shadowlands wouldn't melt my sword like jade would.
but I'm looking through the book and looking online, i can't seem to find anything that talks about how Crystal/Obsidian/Jade work in game? or how much one costs?
Is there another book? or is it all just fluff?

It's a ASoIaF gag. House Greyjoy, whose coat of arms is a gold kraken, has the words 'We Do Not Sow' as their motto, a reference to the fact that their culture is based around piracy and reaving. Fellheart's a corsair with a kraken mask, and the druchii don't sow, either (they, like the Ironborn, have slaves for that).

Alice in Wonderland right now probably, since I'm running A Red & Pleasant Land. But I've also realized that I have a much easier time DMing dungeons with weird and impossible landscapes and bizarre characters rather than classic square dungeons with hobgoblins and orcs, so I think there's a bit of Alice in all my games.

Heamonculi are really good HQs, give them sissor hands, a hex rifle/liquifier and the armour of misery and you have a really solid all-rounder that buffs the squad he joins whiling fucking up the enemy leadership.
