>Every GM does better if they've got someone to discuss and ping ideas off of
Is this true.
>>51661480
Yes, objectively.
>>51661480
That someone should be the group of players though.
That's one group of people GM is sure to have access to and who should be invested in the game and have interest of it being the best game it can be.
>>51661480
Yes. Creativity doesn't happen in a vacuum.
Some advice on taking 1st level at will powers as a sentinel druid please, and which one is best?
Grasping Tide or Magic Stones or Fire Hawk?
Can't hybridize unfortunately.
>>51660904
As a sentinel druid? probably fire hawk.
I do have to ask why you're playing a sentinel druid though
>>51660938
Really and not an AOE like Grasping Tide or Magic Stones? It'd be the difference between single-targeting and multi-targeting, and I'd want to focus on multiple enemies.
The sentinel druid just seemed really good roleplaying wise.
>>51660938
What's wrong with the sentinel druid?
Cozy boats edition.
Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1976. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

Apart of being the most covetet prize for pirates, how do you use space boats in your games? Anyone has tried a campaing using only them? In another thread if was expensive but not that difficult to displace some fighters or little gigs/cutters to other systems using space ships.

>I've heard mixed things about the 2nd edition diluting the core rulebook
This comes up fairly often, so it should be addressed:
Essentially MGT2e moves the starship creation section (but not mechanics on how to run starships in a game) to High Guard. It's not a complete move as some components (namely ship computer programs) are still in 2e Core.
Personally I find that it's a relatively negligible move, in that in 1e you had to reference 2 books for all the starship components, rather than just 1. In fact, 2e High Guard consolidates a few optional components from 1e Merchant's, Mercenaries, and the Darrian (space elves) aliens book into one place.
While some people may find that they'd rather just have 1 book, it should be noted that even the latest 1e edition of MGT core has a fair number of issues that needed to be errata'd, especially in the ship creation section, which has a few major incompatibilities with 1e High Guard (example: 1e HG changes the way pulse lasers work in order to make the game more similar to Classic, but this screws up the math pretty badly, or poor wording regarding tonnage needed for sensor/targeting systems of turrets versus bays).
2e fixes a lot of these fairly small issues (and makes missiles useful!), even if there's still some problems in the books.

What are the worst problems with the MT2? I'm in the fence about learning it or cepheus.
Have you ever played a character that you couldn't fit on a Warrior-Ranger-Bard-Thief-Cleric-Mage archetype?
>>51659815
Several.
There are three that I can think of that definitely don't fit, two more that are sort of borderline, kinda inbetween archetypes but not really fitting any of them, at least without stretching them a lot.
And that's just of characters I've actually played, I have tons that I've made but not gotten to play that don't fit, or are at least borderline.
>>51659815
Monk.
>>51659894
Go ahead and describe them, anon!!!! this thread is just for that
>>51659924
monks are just fighters with (favored weapon: fists). Mechanics may change, but in-game they represent the same shit
With WHFB dying and T9A being a better ruleset I feel more and more detached from WHFB world. It feels so small and explored and cliched now... event Total Warhammer doesn't help.
So, I decided I need a new setting to be a home for my armies. AoS, T9A and KoW settings are completely bland and tasteless skub, so I have to look elsewhere.
I had looked at Nevendaar (setting of Disciples video games) and it has proper Empire, Undead and Dwarfs, but just one flavour of elves, no ratmen, no lizardmen civilization, no ogre kingdoms...
So maybe someone here knows of a good grimdark fantasy setting with abundance of races? No matter if it comes from books, /tg/s or vidya, it's all good.

Define ''modern''?
From year 1900 to the current year? There has been noticeable changes in culture, technology, science and the general mores of with each and every decade within that timespan.
Has anyone else fallen in love with the concept of dragon day-traders who commit white collar crimes?
What is the best published traditional game based on ancient egypt (either historical or mythological)? Pic most likely not related.
I want to sink my teeth into a settingl like that but I don't want to homebrew it from scratch

Is there any reason to get one of these other than cosplaying/collecting porpoises?
I always wanted one as a kid, tho I never saw them anywhere, but now I can't help but think that they would be pretty annoying to actually use, and they would only get in the way of the game.
Mostly you wear it so that you don't look like a giant doofus while playing a children's card game.

Aye, it looks like a cheap plastic trinkey. Probably elf-make. Next time you're in the mountains, come by the mine, i'll set you up.

Well then it isn't very good at it's job.
I never see these threads, star wars x wing general,
I got an idea for a ghost build it any one is interested.
>>51657733
It's part of /swg/ we collapsed all of Star Wars together, otherwise the 40k fans might get uppity about Armada and X-wing encroaching on their territory.
>>51657752
I swear that community is cancer.
>>51657756
Well, that's mostly a joke. The real reason is that if we have too many generals threads with a single IP on them that isn't different MTG formats or 40k the rest of the board starts getting bitchy. /tg/ was made in part so 40k could be kicked out of /m/, so they have seniority, and MTG actually needs the different generals for their respective formats.
Tell me /tg/, how do you Vampire?

Shooting the shit with a friend about successor chapters that don't know who their primarch is, from this conversation comes the Blood Hounds Chapter
They claim to be a Blood Angels successor, and have a death company, but don't seem to suffer from the black rage, they put their top marines in the death company, however they're really good hunters and trackers, leading people to believe that they're actually Raven Guard, if their imperial records resurfaced it would say they're an Ultramarines successor, but their gene seed is actually World Eaters.
How feasible is this

Nah, that's a pretty decent DM.
Thoughts on tonight's episode? How do you see Vox Machina's future?
Typical whiny, angst bullshit to retire a character. It's a trope that deserves a swift kick to the balls of the player who tries to do it. If Sam doesn't want to play Scanlan any more, fine. He doesn't need to conjure up drama like some twilight-reading tween on the character's way out.
Sam and Travis deserve better.
>>51656909
I think from Sam's POV this is meant to be a part of Scanlan's journey where he goes off to connect with his daughter, a thing that he's been running away from for so long since it's reveal.
I feel like Sam and Matt talked this out ahead of time (probably around the time they met for Talks Machina) and the two worked together on how they can best get Scanlan to leave and where his new character can show up at. Because Sam still wants to play with everyone, so he has to introduce a new character somehow. Enter Terry, who looks to be an Artificer from the WotC UA a few weeks back.
Also, if this doesn't cement Sam as the best roleplayer in the group I don't know what will.

How would humanity respond to this knowing how the series goes? Do we just ignore it and wait out the coming Harvest and then prep the fuck for a one? Do we try and help. Do we just say fuck it and stick to Sol?

The staff that worked on mass effect gets taken into custody by anyone nation with the opportunity to grab them, as different state level actors try to determine whether Mass Effect was somehow informed as a warning, or whether Bioware hacked reality somehow.
In the former case, studying the game becomes immensely important. Especially any earlier scripts or works in progress docs. Stuff that didn't make it into the final game might be more important because it is closer tot he original message. What fans 'know' from the games could be wrong.
In the latter case, replicating the success (which history ironically ends up labeling the 'Mass Effect' phenomenon, named after the game rather than what it stands for in game itself) becomes incredibly important. Whoever figures out how and why this worked has the chance to make incredible changes to reality. Importing all kinds of weapons, technologies or even whole factions from video games in our world could cause levels of destruction like nothing we can imagine, even before you start toying with games 'based on the real world' to make more direct changes to the geopolitical landscape. Suddenly, North Korea actually IS a nation with the strength to invade America. If a private citizen discovers the secret first, we will be able to tell because their favorite Overwatch waifus will be real.
>>51655416
Remember: a key point in the games was ignoring warnings.
With that gone, RIP story as humans catapult ahead, knowing what to do.
Also, that shiz would be weaponized so fast.
>>51655416
> its a reality hack scenario
> It has limited range
