New edition when?
Interest was shown, as slow a pace as it was so lets keep the ball rolling.
This time, Lets try to delve deeper into concepts for characters. Just about anything is possible, and if its not, lets find a way to MAKE it possible.
Baseline stuff

Expansions and errata
http://pastebin.com/u/RoyalTeaRed
Starting us off, we'll start with the anon from last times question, on katekyo hitman reborn.
The short answer? yes. The longer answer? It depends on which character.
Starting us off at the top, tsuna. Using him as an example, he'd likely be godhand A or B, or dragon carrier A as his main style. Thematically, i think Dragon carrier A fits best. As for his second style, I think elemental adept A works pretty well. It lets you use attacks of varying ranges, sizes, and damages, and also allows you to buff others.
Using another example, yamamoto. His base styles would probably be Arc slayer A/B, with Time Wizard B being a good secondary choice on the second style.
If you want to emulate box weapons, you'd wanna go contractor, and talk to your DM about setting up the bound primals (or steed in dino's case) as needed.
>>52648381
However, Certain characters like Hibari kyouya, those may be more difficult.
How he fights is extremely hard to pin down to a style. About the only thing i can say is he'd probably use the projectile weapon in the ranged arms. It covers things like whips, and things like that, so it'd work for most of his tonfa's more extraneous capabilities.
If i had to wager a guess, i would say Arc slayer A (because he's a melee powerhouse), and Contractor B (because he has a tendency of collecting animals).
>>52648193
As we said last time, Contractor B is pretty much a stand from jojo if your DM allows it. Time wizard A is basically kiritsugu. Things like that.
So if you have a concept, or a challenge even, lets see it.
What are some great systems that /tg/ never talks about? Why do you think they're great?
>>52630621
Is it okay if /tg/ never talks about it, by I try to? Constantly.
And it's also not that great, when I think about it.
I just really like it as a base for brewing.
>>52630621
Atomic Highway is a free post-apocalyptic roleplaying game with a focus on vehicle combat and has a kind of action-movie feel to it.
It has an interesting mechanic I haven't seen before.
Also it's free on drivetrhurpg.
Mini Six. I always see it mentioned but never really discussed. It's a great rules-light system if you're looking for something with actual crunch, plus you can port almost everything from West End Games' D6 system if you're missing anything.
>>52630790
It's a shame the game only invites memeposters, I'd like to give it a shot just once.
It's been a year or so, let's give this a shot again.
Pirates has been rather beaten to death, but are there any other movies that strike you as unexpectedly RPG-ish?
Holy Grail, from the Monty Python
Indiana Jones, as Atchung Cthulhu
>>52625101
Indiana Jones is decent, but sorta one-player for parts of it.
Not sure about Monty Python, seems a bit too parodical to paradoy.
I was just thinking that the Mummy might be decent. I can definitely see it as a Call of Cthulu-ish game, though I'd appreciate some recommendation about character-specific roles, traits, etc. especially from someone who's played that system. Same deal with Jones I think.
>>52625566
I can really see the Mummy as an RPG.
You've got the archaeologist chick is trying to run the campaign, the brother is trying to fuck around and getting repeatedly shut down, Brenden Fraser is a bit of a power gamer that slowly comes around, and Benny is That Guy who always has to roll a CN/CE character.
I want to make a character that tells jokes but I'm lacking in material. Anyone have any thematic funnies they've heard around the table?
"How many dwarves does it take to screw in a light bulb?"
"What is a light bulb?"
What are three things you can't give an orc?
A black eye, a fat lip, and a job.
>>52703353
Three guys are using the bathroom.
The paladin washes his hands, says "In paladin school we were taught cleanliness is next to godliness."
The ranger wipes his hands with leaves and says "In ranger school we were taught to be eco-friendly."
The fighter walks by and says "In fighter school they taught us not to piss on our hands."
Stat me, /tg/.
N/A
shit/10
Whatever you need her stats to be to achieve what you need at any given moment.
Do you agree with del Toro?
>>52684358
Sure
>>52684358
Disagree, but purely on the usage of terms. Sue is a purely derogative term, so not applicable in situations when such character does not impede quality.
As much as i love my boy torro
No i dont agree
Thats just what normal story characters are.
A mary sue is specifically a character who impedes the chosen tone of a narrative.
Regular characters can push or pull on a chosen narrative but they reach mary sue territory once they have begun to detract from the story and become negative influence.
If every character is on a mary sue spectrum, then that defeats the purpose of labelling a character a mary sue
Personally i think people use the term too liberally which reduces its effectiveness as a label
hi
Fold it completely and then we'll talk
>>52733004
You mean tear it right?
>>52732981
Why not put your willy in the middle of it m8?
This is the music the noise marines would play during battle

>>52731643
in all honesty it would probably be closer to this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS1Ii77n8iA
I would propose their sense of music appreciation would have deteriorated so much, that they would just play recordings of screams.
>>52731643
>>52731664
Ahahahah what?
Try this on for size

If its as powerful and loud as the lore says it probably sounds like this.
Hey /tg/ what is the difference between older dms and players compared to the newer people that play Dnd? I keep hearing that Gary and older DMs were a lot more...brutal in their ways of dispatching players. Anyone have any stories of having played with an older DM/player? What were they like?
>>52730671
I think you're taking the wrong angle on it. Think more from the direction of how you started to play the game, and what you eventually ended up with.
Most people play their first games as effectively kids. Kids are mean and stupid and don't really know what they want out of the game. Where most people socialize regularly, for us, the game itself becomes a therapeutic experience for becoming a better player as well as a better person.
The Gygax school of GMing is a bit like what structuralism is to art. It's basically perfect, under the condition that your players are not retarded, eager to participate, and use all of their options, while also not being horrible human beings. It's a nice pipe dream, and you may pretend to be that serious about your game to get your players to treat threats seriously, but for regular people, a sphere of annihilation in the mouth of the statue is not fun. This unfortunately also leads to a bit of a slippery slope, where you eventually realize that having content prepared is intristically unfair to the players, and start winging everything, and that's not always so great.
There are lots of ways to GM. I guess my point is that while most people would call Gary a materialist GM that likes hard numbers, the truth of it is that you need naive idealism to lead your game like this and expect it to go well.
>>52730792
So in theory it is the best way to DM because it is like real life and teaches you life lessons, but most people cannot stomach it or are prepared for it and that it is a brutal and or hardcore method. On top of the fact that it won't work on most people unless they have grown up a bit. Am I in the ballpark area of understanding old DnD? I thought people just greyhawked everything.
>>52730671
I have not found age to be that significant. Over the years I've gamed with old, young, and in between. If you start off as a little shit, chances are you end up as a that guy, or that gm.

That's what I used to think until our DM throw Ropers at us.
Dex save of -1 vs AC 20 (with disadvantage from restrain)....
I know which one I'm going to choose
>>52728862
How do people just not understand how certain things in life... Are just wrong? Here I am, every day from birth to now I'm reminded by all forms of interaction that "Rape is wrong", and here we have, I don't even know what to call him, just non-Chantilly saying "oh yeah I'm gonna rape her."
Why wouldn't Bless and Bane and other similar spells just add a flat +2 or -2. I hate rolling extra dice on shit like this.

Any more of this? It seems like it needs missions or foes.
YOU HAVE BEEN CURSED BY THE WEREELF CURSE
FROM NOW ON EVERY FULL MOON YOU WILL TURN INTO AN ELF
What do you do now?
>>52728252
I guess every full moon I'm stuck baking cookies.
>>52728252
turn into an elf at every full moon i guess
It's better than being a Were-jerry.
What novels do you wish BL would write about? A concept, character or story you want to read a book about?
Personally, I want a story about a loyalist Alpha Legionnaire secretly helping the Imperium.
>>52727423
Speaking of the Alpha Legion I want a story explaining what the fuck Omegon was up to during the Heresy. If he was a traitor why did he work against his own legion and help the loyalists? If he was a loyalist how did he fuck up so bad that his legion is still fighting the Imperium 10k years later. After Alpharius was gibbed by Dorn he had sole command of the legion.
>>52727423
I want a novel from the perspective of a Iron Warrior soldier during the great crusade and right before the Horus Heresy such as during the burning of Olympia. Either an extremely lucky grunt like Kroeger or a Warsmith like Forrix or Barban Falk.
Great Crusade Era fight between the Blood Angels and the Eldar of Magc'Sithraal, called the 'Defence of Helioret', where the blood angels had to call in Ordo Sinister to beat them. also more books from the Eldar perspective, im sick of reading about Space Marines, i want more space elves. Great Crusade Era Eldar and just general eldar books, shit Guv would probably do it for free
Post stories of players doing stupid shit and blaming you
>GMing UESRPG (Elder Scrolls tabletop system)
>Party recently had a run in with Sanguine, the god of debauchery
>Party encounters troll
>Mage character hears voice in his head
>Mage character assumes Sanguine has taken the form of a troll and is talking to him telepathically
>Mage character walks up to troll and says "thank you for your blessing"
>Troll bitch slaps mage on his arm, knocking it off
>Mage spends rest of campaign with a primitive prosthetic holding a sword for a right arm
>Acts like I'm such a horrible GM for making his retardation have consequences for a good 30 minutes
>slaps mage on his arm, knocking it off

It was a troll, he was a mage, that's the way it rolled.
