What do deamon princes do in their spare time on their demon worlds? I can't imagine them killing and torturing other beings 24/7. Do they sleep? Do they read? Do they gather their followers and give them pep talks? Seems like kind of a shitty immortal life to live if there is a lot of idle time in between raiding worlds.
>>52726706
>I can't imagine them killing and torturing other beings 24/7.
I can. Sounds like fun.
>>52726706
They plot against each other, sacrifice stuff, plan where to get stuff to sacrifice, indulge their desires, fight, etc. Chaos isn't really an idle thing. Some daemon princes ascended specifically because they want to torture and kill 24/7.
Idle time is only a thing in 40k if it fucks you up, like crushing bureaucratic tedium chained at a desk made out of the bones of your predecessors surrounded by thousands doing the same.

Okay /tg/, have any of your GMs rejected a character for something really stupid?
My DM rejected my Were-wolf character, for being a Were-wolf. Despite the fact that we are playing an evil campaign.
>>52724884
If your DM doesn't feel that werewolf players fit with the story, that's fine. Learn to roll with the punches.
>>52724926
There have been two plot points having to deal with swaying a Were-wolf pack to our side.
>>52724884
No because I'm perma-gm. But did your gm give you a reason why? I feel like something is being left out here.
In the penultimate battle of a long running campaign, my players have slain the dragon and now lay claim to its hoard. The horde in question is comprised of ~10,000,000 gold coins and one hundredth that number again in gems and objects of fine art, all scattered in a pile 60 feet long, 60 feet wide and 6 feet deep.
My question is this: how long would it take a character to get an accurate accounting of the value of the hoard? How many man-hours does it take to go through such a pile one coin at a time? What are some obvious shortcuts (magical and otherwise) to speed the process up?
>>52724487
I'd go by weight
Give one dwarf a cramped office with a chair and table, a barrel of booze, and demand full accurate accounts. Expect final numbers before winter entombs you.
>>52724487
>What are some obvious shortcuts (magical and otherwise) to speed the process up?
Asking the Dragon exactly how much treasure it had BEFORE killing it probably would have been a better idea.
Just saying.
What are things D&D 5e definitely gets right or does right?
In what areas does the system fail at or could be better designed in?
What's your verdict of the system?
And would you recommend it?
>>52723546
Nah.
In fact, if you have played a bit of tabletop RPG, a D100 is litteraly all you'll ever need...

Be a kid and save a small spider from being killed by another kid. Fast forward to your now adult life. The world is invaded by killer robots from space. A giant spider out of nowhere destroys one of the robots that was about to kill you.
"Now the debt has been repaid my friend", says the spider.
What do /tg/?
>>52723129
Thank the spider, tell him/her good luck and stay safe, and try to save my family from the killer robots.

"So, are the other spiders I've saved along the course of my life going to show up at some point, or are you just exceptionally virtuous? Because the way I see it, I must have at least a hundred saves built up by now."
Let's make this into a player race.
What system should we use?

What do you do when your GM constantly adds BBEG that turn out to be 'diplomacy encounters?'
That is to say, creatures or characters that are portrayed as evil, played sinisterly up until that point, often even detect as outright evil, but with a little bit of rethoric from a diplomacy character make it clear that their intentions are not to harm the party in any way, and they might even assist it with no ill consequences if we just ask?
We just had this happen at the end of a long arc, after combat buffing and venturing into the enemy's lair etc. Truth be told it was a little underwhelming, especially since it had a big buildup, though it did lead to a little bit of interesting character development for one of our PCs.
What are your thoughts, /tg/? Have you ever had this happen in one of your games? Are you a GM that has done this in the past because you found it difficult to portray a truly evil character? Do you enjoy it when this happens and can it be done well?
>>52721037
>Diplomacy encounters
Ugh.
>>52721068
Judging by that, it sounds like a resounding "yes this happens, yes we hate it."
>>52721037
In my experience GMs or expect or even worse silently demand villains be defeated or treated a certain way aren't much fun to play with.
In my bronze-age setting, water manipulation, darkness manipulation, and necromancy are one and the same.
Halfings and humans are so closely tied that you won't know if your child is a halfling or human until it grows up or not.
Nothing.
):
In MY setting elves are short, bearded folk who live underground while dwarves are tall, fair forest dwellers!

>Unlike higher ranking Necrons, the basic warrior is little more than an automaton slaved to the will of their commander.
okay I am looking for the source on my thinking that necrons lose a little of their personality every time they are re-forged.
either way its still true that after a SC re-forges too many times they lose their personality/will and become just mindless machines that are slaves to sigmar's will.
Just like necron warriors.

When the DM's Magical realm actually turns you on.
>>52713423

>>52713423
I imagine that would be like watching a let's play of a someone playing and a video game terribly that you already know pretty well. You want him to succeed but he keeps missing some obvious point, you want to tell him "Yes, yes that's it, you almost got it! Wait, no, no, NO, NOOOO! Not that way! Go back, go back... no... oh shit.. you FUCKING MORON!"
It's blueballing you until he finds answer and then you go "AWwww yess!"

>Things my DM has never said.
My character has 8 int and 8 Wis in 5e. He's still an expert strategist. Far and away outdoing our 20 int wizard.
In 5e at least, I don't think you should be hindered in your roleplay due to bad game design forcing you to dumpstat int.
>>52711850
I see nothing wrong with this. Players aren't technically human beings, so they deserve no rights nor leeway. I have all of my players attach a thumbscrew to their balls and any time they step out of line I tighten their thumbscrews a bit more. This is also why I disallow female players and why they make the worst players, they simply can't be effectively disciplined. Even if I could, they'd probably just make it into a fetish. That's also why I don't allow faggots or trannies at the table.
