>heh...when am I ever gonna need to use Calculus in real life?
It's true though, if you don't work in a STEM field you won't use it. How many situations outside studying or work have given you a reason to bust out some calculus?
you never use calculus in "reel lyf"

Yes.
The most severe loss upon ejaculation is your body's zinc reserves. Everytime you ejaculate, your body mines itself for zinc to recreate the load you just shot. Even if you supplement with zinc to make up for it, the body only absorbs a very tiny amount, and even if you megadose (which is dangerous) it will still only absorb a tiny amount. This means that recovering from a single ejaculation takes time and any habitual fapper faps multiple times a day if not once a day. Zinc is essential to testosterone production, neurological health, and many other processes but mainly the two aforementioned ones.
tl;dr you can literally fap yourself stupid and into hormonal imbalance
Head and shoulders is loaded with sink, men need this because of the fapping and losing of hair.

Interesting thread, is this legit?
Your method of studying for finals?
On Monday I have a final for Foundations for Theoretical Mathematics (math class that introduces rigorous foundations for logic, sets, relations, functions, various proof strategies, etc...) and on Tuesday I have a final for Linear Algebra.
I have one day each to prepare for these finals. Should I do a few complete runs through my notes? Retake my exams? Read the book?
What's the most effective way to reinforce what I've learned throughout the semester?
General finals thread
I wake up early in the morning, make a nice breakfast, shower, bundle myself in the warmest comfiest blanket I can find, sit outside sipping tea while working through the material until I get too cold, then I come in and work until lunch, occasionally warming up my tea, I eat a big lunch, and then take a nap.
Go do previously assigned homework problems until you understand the material.

I'm "preparing" for my Calc II final tomorrow.
I just have a tab with this: https://www.math.ucdavis.edu/~kouba/ProblemsList.html
and whenever I get bored of the internet I just click one of the pages and scroll down and do the last problem.
Too bad they have no volume of revolution, improper integrals or infinite series problems, I'll have to check out some other website.
Is dark matter just the accumulation of photons that have lost enough energy to no longer be able to give off light and move and over billions of years have formed large undetectable clouds in space around objects with gravity?
>>8549596
Where would those old photons come from, anon?
>>8549596
No. Dark matter has some weird properties. It doesn't seem to condense like normal matter does and form celestial bodies. It seems to be a sphere around the entire galaxy but does not collapse into smaller objects like dark stars. If it was photons it would become a black hole.
>>8549596
>photons
>give off light
>assuming nonzero three point function of photons
ayyyyyy lmao
Which philosophical works or topics do you think are the most relevant in today's science and engineering? Does it go beyond "make technology that services the mankind but please don't kill everything else in the process"? It's argued that today's engineers don't know how to approach problems philosophically. If I were someone who designs a motor drive and writes code for the motor control, how would I approach it philosophically? It's not like I could make the motor crave blood and the destruction of trees even if I wanted to (inb4 pleb eng can't even make blood craving AI), but I could instead choose components and materials from manufacturers that operate somewhat ethically?
Or is the philosophy of engineering just drawing Venn diagrams while chanting "synergy, synergy, save the trees and give me energy!" and feeling good about it?

The Enchiridion.
>>8549423
Descartes, Hannah Arendt, Karl Popper. And if you're looking for some insight on history and other human sciences, Karl Marx (unironically).
>>8549423
I would suggest to watch the movie "The Corporation" and read "The Impact of Science on Society" by Bertrand Russell.
Brainlet Test: Why is this pic called shades of blue?
>>8549291
Because it's your favourite tv show?
>>8549291
Because if you stare at it long enough and then look at a white wall, you will see blue.
because when you stare at shit for long enough then look at white you'a see the opposite of what you were looking at. between red and yellow there's orange, and the opposite of orange is blue.

So what happens if they run out of power or funding? Do they cut off the useless people?
What's so special of Euclid's Elements? Is it even worth paying attention to in the modern world? Could a modern person learn from his work, or would it be better to approach mathematics from another area?
>>8547640
Understanding Euclidean Geometry is very important for mathematicians meaning to master modern geometry. It all comes from there.
Read modern books about it. All of his axioms, theorems and proofs have been "translated" to the modern language of set theory. Reading the original or pre-set theory versions is useless though. All pre-set theory mathematics is outdated and arguably wrong, as it did not base itself on set theory, the only correct foundation.
>>8547640
It is the single greatest book on Math, it is incredibly rigorous, so I am told
>>8547644
>Read modern books about it. All of his axioms, theorems and proofs have been "translated" to the modern language of set theory.
Any particular recommendations?
Preferably ones that fill in the gaps from Euclid, e.g. Pasch's axiom
hello /sci/ I am a chemical compounder for an aerosol manufacturer. I produce the concentrates for ALL popular brands of hairspray, mousse, sunscreen, and a few other household products. a common chemical in hairspray is 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (95%) and I accidentally got some on my skin. this is the result. what happened to my skin and what is "AMP"??
another pic of the chemical burn. this burned for hours even after running water over for a while
>>8547190
lmao this guy fucking makes the shit we put on our skin and even he doesn't know what it does
>>8547198
2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is the chemical used to adjust the PH of all Proctor and Gamble hair sprays.I know what it does. I was hoping a chemist or something would reply to answer a few questions I have
So doesn't it seem to imply that philosophers who think that philosophy can debate the origin of the universe are morons? I can't believe that something like this is for philosophy, I always hear this "science is encroaching on philosophy", you have to be a fucking idiot to think just guessing about things with no education or evidence ever gives you answers, and that is why I am convinced that the vast majority of people on this planet are fucking stupid.

Scenario: both parents are speaking a different language (probably something as diverse as Chinese and Spanish), but both possess the knowledge to understand each other's language. Would the baby learn both languages? What would the accent be like when learning English at a later age?
>>8544021
Isn't this an everyday thing?
Yeah those babies grow up bilingual.
Accent has more to do with peers though.
>>8544021
>but both possess the knowledge to understand each other's language
They would end up talking either in a common language, or in an interlingue made up of Spanish and Mandarin. It's extremely difficult to switch languages on the go.
The baby would pick up the language most spoken, and then learn the other the "normal" way.
His accent would be the one of the main language he heard.
I'm an Electrical Engineering major, junior.
What formulas/useful information would be best to put up on my wall near my desk?
I figured instead of bland ass boring inspirational pictures, I'd rather put something useful that I'd glance at from time to time, and adding information from the poster to my brain memory over time.
I'm going to be taking a class that uses the book "Fundamentals of Electronics" by Schubert and Kim.
And first chapter is about op-amps, so I thought maybe put up different amplifier characteristics? But it's so short, the dimensions of my poster are: 34 cm in width and 126 cm long (or 13.4" x 49").
Any other suggestions?
motor and transformer models and formulas
>>8542758
Well, I don't think I'd be learning about that next semester, maybe during my senior year if I choose an elective...
Would that even be useful to me as an electrical engineer?
>>8542767
what kind of shit tier uni you go that you don't even learn about fucking transformers. holy FUCK
It's going to be extremely useful to you. it's probably on your programme. look it up. electrical machines. god
