where did i goof up? i'm doing Riemann form of the definite integral, and this term is supposed to be 81/4(1+1/n)^2 only, but i still have an n on the denominator even with sum of squares substituted in.
>>8550569
By taking n out of (n+1)^2 you brainlet
>>8550574
but how else do i cancel out n^2? this is what the book does.
>>8550577
Yeah but it's n^2 not n, so n^2(1+1/n)^2 is on the top and you get the thing you expected
How much autism would I need to actually go through with this?
>Stewarts(1-3) + solutions ~$15
lol I(my Dad) paid like $200 for this, but I just use a torrented pdf half the time.
You would need more retardation than autism, because papa rudin is a graduate's introduction to measure theory and this pic doesnt relate to a real math undergraduates study at all, which is probably why the creator put all the stuff he did not learn in the appendix (organization left to the reader)
>>8550096
Where can you torrent at?
Well??
>metrology
sorry about ur autism
We should define the kilogram in terms of the gravitational constant, just like we used the speed of light to define the metre.
why not some huge multiple of something like the resting mass of an electron
What's it like to study Physics?
I'm studying Mathematics in university and in a few months I have to decide upon my minor for next year, I was considering physics.
In Mathematics most lectures basically follow the standard theorem-proof-example construction. Since in Physics you don't really have proofs and theorems, I was wondering what the "standard" lecture buildup is there. Can any physics students here share their experiences?
>>8547782
>Since in Physics you don't really have proofs and theorems
wrong
>>8547786
Enlighten me. I know next to nothing about Physics.
>>8547782
>I was considering physics.
very bad idea if you want to get a job later in your life
If we agree that energy cannot be destroyed (it cannot, this is true). Humans absorb energy from the sun, through the form of Vitamin D. It has weight.
Therefore unlike the planet, we MUST be making the planet heavier through our existence.
Everything on Earth was made from Earth.
So All 7 billion people are and have always been part of the Earths mass, even before they were conceived.
However Humans absorb energy from the sun, through the form of Vitamin D.
It does not go into the planet however like before, instead in goes into the 7 billion people now EXERTING that mass onto the earth.
Because Humans are on the outside of earth, we are exerting that mass onto the Earth (Causing a spin on the axis apparently) rather than being the collective mass of the earth like before.
Do I need to take him to a psychiatrist?
>>8546408
Yes
Also unless you're ESL you should probably take some remedial grammar classes
Sunlight provides energy to allow a chemical reaction to occur that turns a vitamin d precursor into its active form
You don't just materialize a molecule out of nowhere
>>8546408
No he's a pretty basic level of stupid.
CE uses both science and mathematics and adv is retarded so this is the relevant and the correct board for this post.
I got a 1230 on the new sat last March, which I know is shit. I was trying to be a Normie, wasn't reading, and was smoking weed and drinking. I stopped that stuff, and took the SAT again in November with minimal studying, just for shits and giggles to see if I wasn't retarded, and got a 1450. I want to go to school for CE. The thing is, I had shitty scores when I was applying to colleges so I picked pic related, a mediocre state school with a mediocre engy school. I got accepted immediately for a major in CE, and got a 10k scholarship. I accepted the admission, but not the scholarship, yet. After accepting I found out I actually wasn't retarded and that I had got a 1450 on the November sat(as previously stated). Now it is November, most smart kids know where they are going and scholarship money is running out. I can't just go to a community college for a year because they don't offer CE. How do I get out of this shitty school? Should I apply for a better school immediately, before I even revoke my acceptance of admission(if that is even possible)? Seriously /sci/, please help me out, I don't want to become another shitty state school brainlet.
TLDR; I need to figure out how to revoke my acceptance of admission into a shitty state school so that I can go to a better college. Pls help.
Just go/call to the admissions office and tell them that you no longer want to be accepted/enrolled into the university. Apply to a better state school in the likes of University of Texas. Texas A&M. If they don't accept you just get your generals done at a Community College and transfer to a better program. Idk how it works in Texas but in my state if you have a high enough ACT the school will have a tuition waver for you if you have a high enough score though. If all else fails just stay there to get your generals done and transfer.
>>8553287
/adv/ is retarded but that isn't the point.
>>8553287
>http://catalog.unt.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=3&poid=478&returnto=162
The biggest problem is that it moves SLOWLY (2 programming in C++ classes, followed by 2 data structure classes, and then algorithms) and low requirements (No DEs, Modern Physics, Electronics II, OS, or Numerical Analysis). If you take a lot of electives and self study, you can make up for it though.
>I need to figure out how to revoke my acceptance of admission into a shitty state school so that I can go to a better college
Call them up and ask to delay admission by a year. It happens quite often. Many kids use the time to study, work and save up, travel, try to switch schools or get scholarships, etc.
I've been mulling through this for at least a year now, and I'm still floored by the simplicity and applications in everyday situations. It's a fantastic base I'd otherwise have little for.
What's your favorite book that should be in every /sci/ library? Pic certainly related.
every scientist should realize the distinction between scientific/mathematical truth and religious truth, and the utility of each

Is this a good series to self study linear algebra? Also, where can I get some practice assignments?
Also, how long would it take to self study linear algebra, calc 3, and after those 2, differential equations? Can it be done in under 6 months?
t. calc bc student
>>8551276
Strang has some pretty great lectures, to be honest. As far as practice assignments, you can probably find strang's book for relatively cheap, at least an out of date version.
>>8551286
Well, at UC Berkeley (my Alma Mater), calc 3 is taught in a semester and Linear Algebra and differential equations are both taught within one semester. If I might make a suggestion, you could probably put lin alg right before diffeqs, as they are simple enough to grasp on their own, and save calc 3 for last. Linear algebra has a lot of useful skills that you would be hard pressed to learn in Calc 3 without a rigorous background, such as inner products, orthogonal projections, matrix determinants, parameterization and dimensionality, etc.; having taken LinAlg/DiffEqs before Calc 3, this made Calc 3 brain dead easy for 8 weeks as it was just review, and made the rest of the material (which really just becomes Fubini's, Clauraut's, Fund. Thm. Line integrals, Stoke's, Green's, and divergence) also piss easy.
>>8551290
Also basically all you need to understand diffeqs up through general linear differential equations and the heat eqn., wave eqn, laplace equation, etc. is just linear algebra plus understanding what a gradient/partial derivative is.
Besides the obvious GPA plummet, how bad is it to fail a class. I'm currently in danger of failing Differential Equations, and it would be the first class I fail in college. Does failing a class make me a brainlet? Should I not stress too much about it and just retake in in the event I fail?
>>8551272
what's so bad about differential equations? what is bringing your grade down?
>>8551275
nothing in particular, I just havent studied long enough, and it doesn't look like I'll have much time to study since I have a proofs exam tomorrow and I'm planning on staying up tonight. Its honestly not too difficult, just that I am not too motivated in learning.
>>8551272
Having the university jam their thick unlubed cock down your virgin asshole even further by forcing you to pay for the same class again
I'm a med school student with a passion for inventing things from central Europe. I joined a student club, which just had its first meeting, dedicated to prosthesis prototyping using 3d printers. I am looking for some courses that could help me understand both CAD and FreeForm platforms, since this is what we will be working on. I have no prior experience designing, but I do have ideas and some medical knowledge to apply to them. (I don't want to be the ideas' guy strictly speaking, but also do some work)
tl;dr Recommend me some freeform and/or CAD courses and you will have one more person working towards your mad deus ex augs.
>>8551085
How many things from Central Europe have you invented?
>>8551087
Lots, just can't show them to you because they are not in a CAD file
>>8551091
I was going to recommend you a huge source for these types of things but since you posted that fucking disgusting cow I wont.
Can someone explain the two title paradoxes to me? Their solutions to be precise. Thanks in advance.
Also, most paradoxes regarding relativity seem to be solvable using Special Relativity. Does there exist a paradox such that only General Relativity has the answer?
this is the only /sci/ post on all of /sci/ and no one responds to it? ridiculous

How do you categorize a "best" major once you remove what that person is in? Obviously from my point of view, math is the best major since it's my favourite one and chose it. This doesn't make any sense.
