here's a problem i thought up today, it's probably pretty easy though

A is an anti-diagonal matrix in which all nonzero elements are the same scalar (call it x)
this is equivalent to saying A is x times the exchange matrix

compute the eigenvalues of A without using determinants or directly multiplying A by an eigenvector

challenge mode: do it without using matrix multiplication, with a single allowed matrix factorization

I'm awesome at programming and electronics. It's impossible to find a job that lets me do both. Managers think everybody is a software guy or hardware guy. If they know you're good at one they think you can't do the other. Jobs that only let you use half your skills feel unfulfilling.

If two intelligent species evolved simultaneously and inhabited the same regions of the planet, there would probably be tough competition for resources, and one would end up losing.

It's likely that this happened on Earth. There was interbreeding between the Homo species though, so it's probably more complicated.
