You asked for it, and you got it! Demon Overlord Quest continues on today!

Last time, so many things happened! You gained a couple of allies! (one through a show of force) You uncovered a conspiracy to take the title of Overlord from the winner of the Tournament! You geared up and circumvented the rules! You took on two opponents and beat the ever-loving tar out of them. You gave head-pats to your minion Cleric, Anasael!

And, most importantly, you trained to raise your stats! Those can be found here: http://pastebin.com/whRSLSHc

Like before, you are Gneotho: a recently transformed Armor Knight who is participating in the Potential X Potential Overlord Tournament! You have just finished training in Anasael's Personal Netherworld, Tartarus. You and your Cleric return to the real Netherworld of Potential X as another fight in the second round finishes up. It seems it was Kain's fight. Unlike the first one, there doesn't seem to have been much damage inflicted on her time. She makes her way to the clinic under her own power. Brynn takes the stage once more to announce the next fight.

"NEXT UP: CINDERRUN THE CLERGY VERSUS ANASAEL THE CLERIC! THE BATTLE OF HEALERS! GET READY FOR THE LONG HAUL, FOLKS!" The crowd makes a noise that isn't excitement, but isn't disapproval. You think the murmurs are something akin to surprise and confusion as well as a pinch of curiosity.

"Looks like I'm next, my lady! I don't think you need to bother yourself with me for this round. You weren't the only one who decided to train themselves up!" Anasael smiles confidently at you while smacking the end of the Ladle against her opposite hand. "Cinderrun won't know what hit him!"

>"Good luck!"
>"You better win. I'm counting on you."
>No words... just head pats.
>Other parting words?

The moon is full and bright, shiny high above me and my daughter in the black, smoke filled sky. I grin, spreading my wings as I stand on the edge of one of the Centil castle's tower, holding myself up with my lower two hands as I lean off of the edge, staring out over at the sea of buildings. Its a real mess, this place. Most of the city is lit by those old noisy, monster and beast attracting electrical lights. No wonder they built the wall higher than the one around Brausrburge, this place wouldn't have lasted if it was any smaller.

I frown, closing my eyes as I take a deep breath of the smoke filled, salty sea air. It almost reminds me of a nice dinner by the sea. The familiar comforting smell of cooking fish....

I open my eyes. Is it really okay for me to ruin the souls of people outside of brausrburge.

I tilt my head for a second and hear Maya's scales rattling next to my head. I turn and see her laying across the edge of the tower's top.

"Mother" She says sweetly, crawling closer to me "I can smell the sin in the air, can we get to hunting now? I haven't had any lust all day, and...I really don't like being this high, if we're not going to hunt can you at least take me down"

Yeah...yeah it is. Besides, not like I'm actually hurting anyone here anyways.

I pat my little imp on her head, ruffling her hair as her ruby eyes glimmer in the moon light. She's so cute when she's afraid.

"Sorry sweetie, I was just thinking" I say sweetly as she crawls into my arms, trying not to look down at the massive, bone breaking fall not even an inch away from the both of us "if you're scared of heights, you could've just waited for mommy to find a nice place to hunt you know"

She pouts and shakes her tail

"Its...different in this world, in our home we can float through the air, swim through it and even slither over it" She says angrily, sounding a little insulted that reality is the way it is "But here its....odd, also I don't want to be alone, your masters are scary...really scary"

"Yeah, they really are sometimes" I say, hugging her, she pauses for a moment a hug me back, as I wrap my wings around her "Once you get big and strong, they'll not be as scary anymore...Also I'm sure they'd like you, if you weren't always hiding yourself"

"Mortals aren't supposed to see us" She says flatly "You know that right?"

"Well I like being seen" I say smirking as I stand up "And showing off, plus it really makes my job easier if they can see me, you know?"

Maya nods, and smiles

"So we're going hunting now?' she asks impatiently

What do I do?
[] tease her for a while
[] Stalk the castle halls
[] Hunt in the richer part of the city
[] Prowl in the power outskirts along the wall
[] Ask if she's still afraid of everyone but me and her sisters
[] Turn partially into a dragon and soar through the night sky
[] Set up one of my special sweet shop
[] Make a mirror and get some "tools" from my mobile castle or somewhere else
[] write in

Also, sorry I haven't made sheets for Lifa or Maya yet, but I haven't found the time since I've been really busy off of quest days lately. Also need to make one for Cyra.

And good news, I'm going to running a game for some friends set in Da'ta, so I might get some ideas to take that quest off haitus

“I’ll get the onions. Gotta make sure you don’t get any with wireworm like last year.” You tease him playfully. Your mom never let him live it down, and though you’re not actually sure what an onion with wireworms looks like, you couldn’t pass up an opportunity to tease your old man after what he’d said in the car.

True to form, he groans as if mortally wounded, then flashes you a grin and a wave, walking off with the old man hobbling beside him to pick up the saplings. Surprisingly, the old man seems to have an easier time navigating the tangle of potted plants, gardening implements, and bags of peat moss than you would have imagined, nimbly making his way through while your father struggles. It’s a funny sight, but then Vanessa clears her throat, jerks her head, and walks off towards the other end of the store.

“This is where we keep the annuals. You wanted onion starts, right?” she asks over her shoulder, walking between waist-high tables stacked high with germinating trays. “Organic or conventional?”

“Organic.” You answer firmly, knowing your mother’s stance on the issue all too well. After a lecture series on agriculture done by an Indian woman a few years back, she couldn’t so much as look at Miracle-Gro. You take the chance to get a better look at her as she hauls a tray over and starts transferring seedlings into a paper bag for temporary transport.

She’s taller than you’d expected, almost statuesque, and her dark hair falls perfectly straight, not a wave or curl in sight. Her face is fine-featured, with green eyes and a deeply tanned face. Comes from working outside so much, you suppose. Before you can stare at her for too long, she’s turned around and is holding out the bag.

“Make sure to get these into the ground before they dry out.” she orders, and sweeps past you back from where you two came. You follow and arrive back at the entry room and counter well ahead of your father and the old man.

Welcome to Modern Necromacy Quest: Redux! This time we follow Liz Shepherd from Olim, Maine, an 18-year-old high school graduate who’s just received a tome of unending horror in the mail, and is on a quest to become the best damn necromancer she can...or at least have some fun. So far we have
>Summoned a sassy cat ghost
>Claimed and secured a secret tree-house lair for all our dark needs
>gone to Portland to investigate a possibly supernatural library explosion
>failed a stealth check and got discovered by a guy digging around the library
>gotten pulled through a portal by said guy (Argus) and brought to the Seelie Court, one of two warring factions of Fae
>received an “invitation” to join the Seelie, and politely asked to meet their enemy, the Unseelie, before taking them up on it
>come home and discovered that somebody from the Unseelie is using a Stygian imp to spy on us (and quite a nice imp he was, too)
>and finally, gone to a garden store and nursery with our Dad to pick up a few things, imp and cat-spirit still in tow

>Soooooo after that disastrous quest had gone kaput, I decided to start it again from scratch by rebooting the quest with a different starting location and (hopefully) a different plot. So here is take 2 of The Odd Story RPG.

So you are at a library reading some books for a study at 11th grade English class at Quagburry's High School for Young Geniuses.

The subject for your study is about comparisons between fantasy and reality and how we aways escape from reality to immerse ourselves in the wonders of imagination.

You have worked really hard on working with your study, it seems that you have a good time finishing your homework...

That is until about an hour in at the library that a cloaked stranger was standing here, watching you finish your homework so he can show something important.

"Hey, you." The stranger called "Meet me in the fantasy section, I want to tell you something, avatar."

Would you follow him to see if wants something or finish your 30-page study first before you follow him?

You told him that you have to finish the study first before you could follow him.

"Alright, I'll wait for you." the stranger said.

About 10 minutes later, you have finished the 30-page study and you told him that you are ready to follow.

"Alright then, Avatar," he said, "Follow me, I have a surprise for you."

You stand up from the chair and started to follow him to the fantasy section.

As you had reached to the section that he wants to meet you, he turns at you and stares with glowing blue eyes.

"What's your name, Avatar?" he asked.

Sorry about my last thread in Werewolf Reich and how short I was on. Hopefully I'll be on longer tonight.

Last time on EDQ, we got depressed and cried over having our legs get smaller, we also partially discovered that I rarely update the character sheet (and oh boy do I mean rarely), we also got cookies from our mom, and cried like a baby at having shorter legs in front of our waif- I mean, wives.

And right now, your flying over the Norwegian coastline... With your mom... Who's slightly bigger then you.

You let an acidic tear fall. Who cares... You've already melted... What, two farms with your tears...
Oh, and you gave some nasty burns to Chrysoula. Who for some reason didn't notice... Huh.

I don't know why you let your mom treat you like this.

Like what?

She still treats you like a small child... And I'm not a person who's going to yell "fuck your parents edgelord now" or anything, but honestly...

What's wrong with having thine mother take care of us?

I mean, it might become a joke or something to people... Just saying. Also because it's kind of... Childish, I guess.

Oh, and Fenrir's been bitching about you hanging out with your mom. That's nice.

Can you stop? Come on, our mom loves us and we love her.

I'm just saying...

She's a good rolemodel.

Everyone of course, goes silent at that.

...She's a uh... I meant when she's not a tyrant or slaver.

Well... Maybe it's just because that's not my mom, I guess.

Who is your mom again?

Oh fuck no, I'm not telling you. You guys would make fun of me or something...

Well, I like being around our mom. Even if she's evil as fuck, it's kind of adorable to be taken care of as a large draconic child.

Say, Ren... You haven't been talking much. What sayeth you?

About my mom?

Well, yeah. Can you just get Fenrir to stop bitching though? That'd be nice.

Fine. I love my mom, and go fuck off Fenrir.

Wow, thanks.

Hey... Just wondering... Why are we attacking the French again? I mean, they are the property of our ward, Reuviere... And I kinda liked that kid. He was pretty cool.

Actions

>Come on, Reuviere's a cunt.
>Reuviere's cool, I guess.
>We should attack somewhere else.
>In a sense, he's... Well, he's sort of family. I think.
>...I only had him a year, and he's... What, sixteen? Maybe we should take him with us again. I liked him around... Made a good apprentice at least.
>Who cares? I just want to crush people who are smaller then me...
>Let's attack somewhere else then...
>Didn't he have a sister?
>...You know, I don't think Frankizka has forgiven me for helping my daughter eat the Eiffel Tower. Maybe we should get her to like us again? I mean, she's starting to dislike us, with all our monument eating and slavery...

Last time you, Nathaniel Joeseph, would find yourself in the desert with Tark as your destination. But you'd soon find yourelf ambushed by a masked bandit with questionable guns aimed to the head of you and Dominick. When asked of who he was, he'd told you that he was the Alpha Bandit, Al. He told you that the one platinum coin you gave him wasn't enough. You didn't have many choices since there was a saw off shotgun shoved in your face, and Dominick couldn't save you either as he was in a similar situation. What would you do?

Rolled 71 (1d100)

You are a survivor of the post apocalypse who had awoken to find himself with no memories and carrying a strange suspicious satchel. You were however not alone as you encountered a strange man in a suit who gave you directions to the nearest settlement. On the way you encountered an unlucky 'shady hardware trader' who was in truth an arms dealer who preferred the company of machines over people. That person gave you lift to a survivor village where you hoped to find people who would know you. That didn't happen and you took a job with the hardware merchant and followed a trade route.

However on the way you were ambushed by a group of bandits who chased you down. Fortunately they did not shoot at you due to what you had on board. However they DID attempt to board you. They gained on you and when an bandit APC charged off an overpass at you when an ambushed happened trying to take out your engines/shoot you. However both was stopped by the last bot of your new boss. It seemed to be all over with the APC and other bandit vehicles.

However you both were once more saved by the bot who sacrificed itself battered body in a large explosion that took some of the bandits out including the APC and blocked off the package. Thereby ensuring your escape. After stopping for repairs your new boss the Shrouded One swore revenge.

After that you continued onto the next stop. Which as it turned out to be a paramilitary outpost. There goods were given and you got some new temporary comrades were hired on. After that you arranged for a meet for the rest of the exchange and went off to the place. Which turned out to be a hideout of your new boss which was disturbing close to a ghoul den.

There you encountered ghouls for the first time in your memory. They were fast, strong, and tough. They still had some intelligence in them too unlike the zombies. Unfortunately you only found that out the hard way when you accidentally pissed off some their smart ones.

Which resulted in a rather fierce engagement as the smart ghouls lured zombies over to you and proceed to launch their own seperate attack. Fortunately your new boss was quite prepared for this. As suddenly many hidden turrets came online and bots were awoken. The leader ghoul was then 'persuaded' to back down and clean up the mess.

After that and searching the garage. You finally got your AI Core that was in the strange satchel online temporarily. However it was a temporary fix and after finding some maps. You discovered a lead to a think tank who may hopefully be able to return your memories to you.

In that regard you set off figuring you should have enough time for such a side trip. After confirming one of their outposts it turned out one of them knew you and informed you they wouldn't be able to help with the memory. The 'friend' had a very twisted humor and guided you to a place who COULD help.

So that was how you ended up going to banditville. Because apparently they had a dark dok who might be able to help. Once you arrived you followed the plan of your(not so smart) 'friend' of just trying to 'walk right in'...which actually worked.

And you weren't even invisible. You think he may have forgotten that fact though. After that you went to a clinic that had STRIPPER NURSES and both of you cursed about how the bandits got all the awesome shit. Eventually you were taken in back where you were met the dok you stabbed you with a syringe and you passed out.

Upon awakening the Dok informed you that whoever mindraped you REALLY knew what they were doing. As the only stuff you still had intact up there in your brain was your 'survival' stuff. Which apparently was extremely difficult to dig out. Everything else however...

Was gone.

The only lead you got on getting your memory back is maybe...just maybe whoever did this to you still had your memories in their possession. The two people whom might possibly know something about who was behind it is a Madman and a Evil Super Genius. Apparently there were extremely few groups out there in the post apocalypse who could still manage to mindrape someone that hard.

After that you met your friend's girlfriend whom was somehow the ONE uptight crazy bitch bandit in existence and she didn't like you. Like at all and apparently you owe her for debts and payback.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d100)

>>799148
After pissing her off the two of you were finally busted by the bandits. Also as it turned out she WASN'T the only one uptight non slutty bandit bitch in existence. If you hadn't seen it with your own eyes you never would of believed it. Your 'friend' informed you he thought the same thing. Apparently the end of the world fucked people up so hard even the bandits were effected far more then you would of thought possible. I mean who the fuck ever heard of non slutty sexy bandit bitches? Its just not suppose to work that way.

After that your friend revealed himself to be incredibly handsome man as his girlfriend screamed NNOOO as he was butt naked and started to run away. Thereby attracting most bandit attention allowing you to make a much easier getaway. That as it turned out was a real risk as you would later find out after being mistaken for a newbie bandit after losing those who DID remember to follow you(and not that delicious hunk of naked manflesh). You got dragged off to where the newbie seminar where you given information.

Apparently your friend made quite the risk because if he was caught he would get gang raped and tortured to death. However you later found out apparently it was actually a hologram and after discovering some interesting things. Including you a hidden stash of a bandit(that you looted). You headed off and on the outside you ran into your invisible 'friend'. Who wondered what took you so long.

What do?

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“Hey... you wanna dance?”

At the Halloween party, Mayu seemed... off. Of course, that was large in part due to her inebriation and the illness that came with it, but even before she took some of the spiked punch, there was a strange feeling behind her eyes. Something wrong.

“No...” Mayu mutters, her head hanging above a trashcan. Kiriko, who was sitting next to Mayu and readily comforting her as she was sick, gives you a nod. A symbolic tagging in.

“Figured you wouldn't want to...” you say with a sigh, hunkering down and sitting next to her with you back against the wall. “How about... a hug?”

Mayu shakes her head.

You chuckle. “Figured... how about just a chat then?”

Mayu remains silent, which you take as a yes.

“Sorry for not hanging out with you much tonight. I kinda got caught up in talking to Io about... stuff.”

“I'm sure it was pleasant,” Mayu answers coldly. Her voice hasn't been this cold since before the two of you were friends. “Io is a lovely person.”

“Yeah...” you nod. Your conversation with Io was very pleasant. You spoke at length with her about various Halloweens growing up, and how you were always disappointed that your dad couldn't show up. Io in turn shared the fact that she never celebrated Halloween as a kid, as her parents hated the holiday.

“How are you holding up, Mayu?” you ask. You briefly consider placing your hand on her shoulder, but you know she hates physical contact like that.

Mayu gives you no answer, but soon returns to throwing up in the bucket.

“You look like you've been crying,” you note.

Mayu pauses. “I was.”

“You just can't handle some sudden alcohol,” you reassure her. “I know being sick sucks, but it's not the end of the world. By the way... I know I was weird about it earlier, but you do look nice in that cost-”

“Kazuma, I don't deserve this.”

“Deserve what?” you ask.

“This.”

“Mayu, you're not making sense. Come on, let's get you to bed.”

And so, you lead Mayu back to the Class 1 dorms and her room for the night. The whole while she mumbles vague apologies. You hope that she can get undressed on her own in her state, before deciding to retire for the night yourself.

The next day, you decided to check on something. Days earlier, you had agreed with Mayu to hide your stone in a lockbox and to bury it in a patch of ground behind the back of the dorms. A safe place where nobody but you and Mayu could find it. You don't know why, but this morning you felt the need to dig up the spot and check on the stone. It started as a small feeling at first, but it quickly grew into a powerful pull, a loud screeching within your skull that wouldn't let up until you checked up on it. As you dug up the spot with your bare hands, those niggling doubts and fears in your mind were confirmed... the lockbox wasn't there.

Dammit... well, maybe it's somewhere else! Maybe you got the spot wrong! You dig up another patch... nothing. It has to be around here somewhere, you have to find it! If you don't... the pain in your head won't go away...

You fingers dirty with the soil of the earth, you finally find a patch with something in it... a box. Oh thank god... but as you unearth the box, you see that it's not the same one from before. It's not the strong black lockbox with a red lining... no, this is a simple white gift box. The pain in your head, it won't subside until you find it. Confused, you open up the gift box. Oh god... the pain is unbearable now...

A chain... a rather pretty looking silver chain. One you remember all too well. It's yours, gifted to you in a box just like this one. A note... you hesitate to open it, fearing the worst, but the pain... the pain...

In one quick motion, you grab the note and unfold it, looking down at the words contained within. You... you can't believe your eyes.

“I'm sorry.”

No... no, this can't be happening... this can't...

Footsteps behind you. You spin to face them... it's her.

“Mayu... what the hell is happening?”

He head hangs low, her eye not meeting yours. She places her hand up to her chest and looks away.

“Where is it? Where did you put it?”

She doesn't speak.

“Dammit, answer me!”

“It's...” Mayu begins, choking on her words. “It's in safer hands.”

“Safer hands?” You mutter. “What are you talking about?! The safest hands are my own! The safest hands... no... you didn't.”

More silence. Disturbing, even for her.

“You didn't give it to... him, did you?”

“To Shida...” Mayu mutters, refusing to look you in the eye.

“Oh my god, you did...” you grimace. You apprach Mayu and grab her tightly by the arm, causing her to let out a light whimper of pain. “You gave it to him! How could you do that to me?! Betray me like that?! I thought you were my friend! You're just a traitor!”

On the verge of tears, Mayu breaks away from you and rushes back to the dorms, but you're not letting her escape this easy. The pain in your head demands it... you have so many more words to share with her. You follow behind her as she enters the dorm, yelling after her.

“I trusted you, and you stabbed me in the back! Just wait until the rest of the club hear about this!”

“We already know.”

You hear Kiriko's voice ring out in a sombre tone as you chase Mayu into the common room... and then you see them. The rest of the club, your supposed friends, sitting around with wooden chairs aligned in a circle.

“What the hell is this?” you ask.

“Kaz... please sit down.”

Kiriko leads you to a chair in the circle, as she sits next to Mayu, who is seated directly opposite you, her hand up to her mouth as she looks away.

Something's wrong... the looks on their faces, the fact that they have Gado and Sae sitting at either side of you, as if you would spring up and try to attack them... what's going on? Why are they looking at you like you were some kind of monster?

“Kaz...” Kiriko begins, sad and hesitant. “We... we have to talk.”

“Yes, let's talk,” you reply. “Let's talk about what Mayu did! She stole the stone! My stone! And she gave it to that demon!”

“And she was right to do it,” Gado replies. “Face it Kazuma... you have issues.”

“Issues?!” you exclaims.

“That's right,” Gado replies. “And you're going to sit down, shut up, and listen to what we all have to say... because dammit, we're worried about you.”

You're confused... is this some kind of intervention? For what? What's gotten into everyone?

“Look Kaz, I always thought you were a good guy,” Gado explains. “But there's a reason I find it hard to trust you around Kuin. Look at yourself... you're unstable. You're so obsessed with that stupid stone, all because of what some hallucinations tell you, that you can flip on a dime. That thing lead to you stabbing Mayu, to strangling Risa... those are your friends! And the more you stay attached to that thing, the more they're in danger of you. I'm a protector, Kaz... and I want to protect you like I do the others, not protect them from you! I don't want to have to cut you down one of these... I want to be able to trust you, but... you're unpredictable. I have no idea what to do with you.”

Chapter Seven: Railway Sleeper

The Sentinel looms ahead of you in the distance, the statue mostly upright and whole but with the face sanded off and both hands broken off at the wrist. The breaks are clean, the stone stumps of the statue’s arms smooth and glassy.
“This was no accident,” you say, wheezing a little as you work the pump, the crowded handcar rattling down the rails suspended over the wasteland. There is no sun and no moon tonight and what stars are left cluster together upon the horizon behind you. Continue travelling in the direction you are and there’ll soon be no stars left at all. They don’t shine upon your destination.
The tiny circle of lantern-light is the only light left, an island in an ocean of darkness that pulls back as you advance across the concrete plinths that support the rune-stamped rail and pulls back behind you the moment you depart.

“Deliberate mutilation? Seems a bit spiteful.”
Beatrice leans over the side of the trolley, the only person currently here who isn’t working the pump. It’s been you and Abe for the past hour, the witch citing exhaustion as her excuse.
“The other ones were just regular old degradation, weren’t they? It’s bound to happen sooner or later.”

And indeed there had been other ones. The maimed Sentinel looming in the darkness ahead of you is the fourth of its kind that you’ve encountered, from the shattered and fallen one you had taken shelter beneath to the two others that you have passed in the day since. Without a doubt they are the very same sculptures that Zeno described in his notes, the marker-stones of a time long gone.
Unfortunately the rain spoiled his work before you had found the time to study more than the first entry. But you remember him describing his encounter with the ‘Golemist’ as he followed the same rail you do now, meeting her at the base of one of the Sentinels. Which one had it been? This one up ahead? One of the ones before? At the very first? And if it was, would he not have mentioned it had been broken? Had it only fallen recently?
And more importantly, if the Sentinels form a semi-circle around the bay of Dis as he described, why has the rail been taking you passed so many of them? The line of Sentinels should be perpendicular to a straight rail to Dis, meaning you should have only passed the first. And yet you know that you are on the path to Dis.

>Stop the trolley to roll the bones one more time. Are you still on the proper course?

>Keep going to at least the Sentinel up ahead and try to use what you see there (if anything) to help get your bearings.

>Just keep pumping.

(My first quest. Here goes.)

The calender on the wall of the diner reads 1986. This hasn't been your year, but you could say that all of them lately. You used to have dreams of being somebody, a name to be feared on these streets. Something more than a two-bit punk with scarred knuckles. But the crew you used to run with lost a war, big time. Those bastards killed your friends, your boss, even your girl.

You survived, but did a nickel upstate for theft. You didn't even steal that money. Of course, if the Man knew about the things you actually did, you'd probably get the electric chair. So you shut your mouth, and did your time.

Now you're out, but your name means shit. Nobody knows you, or they don't want to know you. So you scrape by, on the bottom, using your fists to survive. A cheap punk, a grunt, an enforcer. A thug.

Fuck that, you tell yourself. All that is going to change.

Your thoughts are interrupted by a woman clearing her throat. You look up from your coffee to see the diner waitress standing next to you. She asks, "How's the coffee?"

"It's, uh ..." You search for a polite way of saying it tastes like boiled cigar stubs. "It's fine."

She smiles. "Anything else I can get you?"

Your stomach growls as she says that. "Better get me a steak 'n' eggs," you say.

"Sure thing!" You watch her turn away and walk back to the kitchen. Damn, she looks good in that uniform.

You pull out your beat-up wallet and take a look. Not good. You have $15 to your name right now. The meal and coffee should run you about $5. You consider trying to skip out on the bill, even though you like this diner ...

Before you can decide, the waitress is back with your meal. "Here you go!" After setting up your plate, she says, "You know, you've been coming here for a while, but I hardly know anything about you. Most of our regulars like a little chit-chat. You're the quiet type, huh?"

"Uh ... yeah, that's me. I'm just real thoughtful."

"Well, why don't you at least tell me your name?"

Welcome to You Awake in Westeros Quest – Trick Edition.

In this quest we follow the Anons, a group of 4channers reincarnated across the realms of Planetos, as they try to survive and thrive in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire.

Last thread, Mira finally consummated her marriage to Ser Jacelyn Bywater. Othello refused to join Will's hypothetical cabal of anons. And William finally arrived in Meereen where he met Allant, another anon from Earth who has worked his way into the upper echelon of Daenerys's advisers and has potentially procured himself his own personal dragon.

Now, Velo guides Viserys into what appears to be a Dothraki riot.

“Things around Dothraki tend to turn violent,” you explain. “I suggest we prepare ourselves for a potential scrap. Stick together and keep marching, but I think your sister may be in the process of conquering and burning this city to the ground.”

As one tightly-knit, cosmopolitan cluster, you push forward. Allant stops talking with the guard captain completely as you do. Annoyed at being ignored for a split second, the Meereenese soldier turns around to spy the subject of Allant's indecipherable gaze – which just happens to be your group.

Surging closer to the pyramid of House Loraq, Viserys takes the lead as he drinks in the form of his former drinking buddy. Simultaneously, roughly fifteen relatively unoccupied Dothraki take notice of your outstandingly unique presence and begin descending upon you like a pack of hyenas prepared to feast.

Only once they began shouting at you in their mother tongue does Viserys raise his voice, disgust plain in his tone.

“Allant!” Viserys yells, hand falling to the sword tied at his waist. “Tell these savages to back away. They are harrying a KING. And what is the meaning of –”

“Your sister is dead,” Allant calls out, the interrupting reply fired in an eerily calm tone. Raina genuinely gasps and you yourself find your jaw hanging slack as that abrupt revelation seems to wash the chaotic scene in a perverse silence. Even the surrounding Dothraki seem to take pause as they notice Allant speaking with you directly in a language few of them probably have a good grasp upon.

“ . . . What?” the dragon prince asks, horrified after taking a moment to register his friend's words.

“She was slain mere moments ago by an assassin,” the earthling explains with as much emotion as if he was relaying what he'd eaten for breakfast that morning.

A few seconds pass before you notice the exotic, silver-haired noble absolutely shaking in his saddle. His whole body shuddering as he takes in the news. In what looks to be a haze of confusion and uncertainty – frankly it seems you're all currently embroiled in feelings that are at least similar, if not as extreme, as what Viserys must be feeling right now – the young man dismounts his horse in a fluid slide. You'd swear he had merely fallen or was in the process of fainting if he hadn't landed squarely on his feet.

Putting a hand up to the neck of his horse, Viserys uses the living source of stability to maintain his balance.

“Where is she?” the lilac-eyed lunatic softly demands.

Whatever emotionless malaise Allant seemed swept up in before seems to genuinely melt for a moment as he observes the prince's reaction.

“Look Viserys –”

WHERE IS SHE?!” the dragon roars so fiercely and with such vigor that it startles you all. Allant himself flinches and a few Dothraki find the jarring change in atmosphere due to Viserys's outburst reason enough to apprehend him.

Only a raised, open palm from Allant and a quick muttering in the Dothraki tongue halts their intended actions. “Up the pyramid steps. I'll have one of my own guard escort you, your Grace.”

“Thank you,” Viserys mutters more to the ground or himself than to Allant as the mustachioed man gives a rapid order to one of his horse nomad allies.

Trodding after Allant's almond-eyed subordinate like a sullen toddler, Viserys departs your little group on foot, leaving his horse to mill about fruitlessly.

As you're promptly abandoned by your glorious leader, the hawkish and continuous gaze of the smattering of Dothraki killers particularly alarms you for some reason. The Midwife of Dragons pays no heed to the nervousness his men are eliciting and instead turns back to the city guardsman who he was arguing with earlier. They speak in a few more hushed whispers, Allant sparing you a few glances during their talk before fully returning his gaze to your group at the conversation's apparent conclusion.

“The rest of you,” Allant summons a commanding pitch as he addresses those of you left to flounder without guidance or purpose in the middle of Meereen. “I'm going to need you to dismount your horses and relinquish your weapons.”

Hiya Agents! Are you doing okay? Got the pumpkin cleaned out of your suit and flushed the NervTranq?

Happy news. Agents Brakow and Agathe are recovering pretty well from the... Processing Incident... and we've mostly taken control back over the internal HQ systems!

Just no one use the coffee machine on the second floor, it sets the output to unsustainable levels and appear to have develope a grudge against all human kind. Also the cameras on the third floor tends to track your movements now which some of the technicians have been descriving as "eerie" so I wouldn't have any personal conversations up there just yet.

Well, on it goes.

Johnson has a small accounting update. It appears restoring the internal superstructure, load bearing walls, paying for the medical expenses and restocking the armoy has run our proud organization once again into the red so to make a lot of cash quickly, we've settled on a few new contracts.

Agent Hedgehog and TEAM HAZE will be attending the Hong Quarterly Ball this week as Securitainment. Up and coming sub-director Wonglei will be present as well! He even got us the tickets. Great times.

Teams MIST and FOG will be deploying to the Dig Zone to run oversight for a few Driet vessel scuttling.

And us poor footsloggers get to have a gun fight with the professional military. I figured we drew the best of the bunch, high society parties with free food are boring anyhow ya?

So on with the briefing!

The UNCC High Command recently send over some top notch instructors to educate their footsloggers. With the Ethics Oversight case getting the media attention it got, they need to be seen to be handling the situation. That might be why they've been doing more routine patrols recently.

Well, the graduates of their new Seniral 'Crystal Rose' RIDER Facility finish up their their accelerated learning course this week. Good on them, I hear its hard to parallel process sixty autonomous combat units at once without developing rapid onset DID. Can't imagine a 5 month course is much good when the standard training usually takes 3 years.

Anyhow! You might be wondering why we're taking potshots at a military unit, right?

The UNCC is a little worried their investment doesn't actually fit the usual rough nature of urban pacification. If their trainee RIDERs get killed in their first action, the Crystal Rose Facility will take a major hit and the investment of High Command probably nose-dive with it. It's all gone a bit political.

We're playing the beligerent opposition in a simulated live fire exercise, to stress-test the RIDERs in an as-close-to-real situation as we can manage.

Plus, heh

Director Werenhofff pitched you were all rather good at destroying things.

The Urban Combat Trial Area is here. Because we're pretending to have home ground advantage, we get to set up.

Our job is to hold on and attempt to fight off the UNCC RIDERs. The flag markers are zones of control. The more we hold at the end, the higher our score. The more they hold, the higher theirs.

Company betting pool gives is 9:1 against us holding any.

Standard RIDER doctrine is a light screening swarm, dispersed formations and overwhelming suppressive fire from slaved drones with the RIDERs taking out high value targets. The light drones are mostly for harassment, and you can likely shrug off their fire.

Walker models are reinforced, and will need to be brought down with concentrated fire.

Keep in mind that RIDERs can only focus their attention in a small subsection of the swarm at once, and any they're not directing are idling processing cycles to harness information. Target the RIDERs or lock the swarm up, but getting into a running gunfight with the self-replinishing urban pacification programme isn't ideal.

UNCC Conventions ban a few weapons, and they'll play nice so long as you do. We're classe as Belligerent Populations for this match, so the UNCC can't bring out mjolnir missiles, energy tech or any form of gas. If you stick by the rules, they can't escalate.

Hazardous material, energy weapons of our, self-aware code fragments or contraband high explosives means they can escalate their protocols. If you think you can match the brigands in blue, be my guest. I've got company popcorn and the entire office will be watching the match in the main projection room.

I'm counting on ya!

Ya can prepare the field ahead of time. Talk to me if you want to arrange something.

Our traditional armory isn't really ideal for going toe to toe with the actual military, but I've got a few things.

If you've got something you want me to try and dig out, I can do that too.

You sit in the office with your legs crossed and your arms crossed as your skull knits itself back together.

Thankfully you haven't really been bothered and The Dealer has mostly been content with pressing buttons on his strange shelf. As he does the small box in front of him flickers to different displays.

You've been trying not to stare but it's really quite fascinating.

His neck suddenly flips around 100 degrees and stares at you.

Time to go. Remember to pick something to focus on.

You try to ignore the ridiculously pretty form he now wheres, thought the whole "secreting blood from every orifice" thing is distracting...

You shut your eyes and focus preparing yourself to go back to the world of the living.
