You are Captain SAMANTHA WELLINGS, a newly minted captain of the Centauri Accord!

Currently you're back on Eridanus Station, having just come off an ambush by a bunch of highly organized pirates. Things got pretty rough there near the end, but you managed to come through thanks to the timely intervention of Frolaytia's reinforcements, which included Carly's ship.

You also managed to capture a suspicious looking ship trying to flee the system during the ambush, as well. Here's hoping Tank and Lida manged to glean any intel from it.

Anyways, you were scheduled for a debrief with Frolaytia, though you still had a bit of time...

=======
Seth Mcallister, former Officer of the Confederacy of Independent Systems Droid military and human expert on Droid psychology and manufacturing, is now in exile on the nearly barren planet of Mandalore after the fall of the CIS.

Accompanying him is the Officer model droid codename "Corius" that helped to escape to the planet, and Vulture Starfighter model droid codename "NG4-HM", both irreverently loyal to whom they presume to be the last living officer engineer of Geonosis - their Commander Mcallister.

After enlisting the services and connections of Shav, a bounty hunter and shop keeper in the Mandalorian city of Gun'dari.
=======

Shav shakes her head as the replay of Palpatine's power grab finished on the holoscreen, face slack with a sort of fascination at the screen. “Shocker, ain't it? First we had the corrupt Republic, and now we have an Empire that doesn't even do the decent thing of hiding the clear corruption.” She looks to you, meeting your eyes, “'least you can agree with me that the worlds who think this or the Republic were horrible, CIS and all.”

A feeling of relief at the deal having been finished, and at the knowledge that Shav's contact would be connecting with you in a few days thanks to Shav just prior to showing her the recording of 'Emperor' Palpatine's speech to the now powerless Galactic Senate. Now you two both shared the feelings of being prey in a very large system, a man so ruthless to be crowned an Emperor, who had some clear hand is causing countless deaths in the Clone Wars... 'Hunted' is the word that comes to mind as two people with a very small hand in the future, under clear threat from the looming shadow of the Empire.

It's somewhat reassuring knowing that you share atleast one common experience as targets of the Empire, her as a Mandalorian that rejected the laws of the capital, and you as a former Officer of the Confederacy. “No argument there, I joined the rebellion to change this corrupt galaxy into a freer place, no matter how small my contribution would be,” you lean your head on your hands, “And now this is what we get, a quite literal damned Emperor.”

“Guess you gotta keep fighting CIS-boy,” she throws the blaster in your lap, “Take a tip from the Mandalorians on rebellion,” she pulls up an image of the city, presumably from some sort of surveillance around the shop, giving a detailed aerial view of the insider of the dome, warrior-like citizens clad with the customary battle armor of the Mandalorians swarmed the streets like always,

“Do you see people dying here? No. Because we all live with the belief of our ancestors that someone cannot harm you if you can hurt them worse, now we have relative peace compared to our past.” She leans back into her chair across the living space, “The CIS always seemed to be just as greedy as the Republic, so fight for yourself, like we do.”

A small, common service droid glides over the stone-like floors and a glass of alcohol appears, which Shav eagerly grabs.

“So, CISboy, until we hear back from my people, I'm stuck with you. Where are we going after you get cleaned up?” She scowls at your inevitable attempt to protest being followed by her, stopping it before the words could come out. “You owe me a lot of money, and if you die I get no money. Not your choice.”

Your name is Simon Steele.

After successfully defending the town of Neo Tucson from a Black Star raid with your gunslinging and kung-fu skills, you find yourself riding towards the Mines of Fool’s Gold Gulch in order to attain vengeance.

Nightfall greets you as the sun finally sets, and a cool breeze brushes against your warm, sweat covered face, sending a chill down your spine. The sound of running water fills the air as the moon shimmers from the surface of the river. Atop your cyborg horse, you pull out your rangefinder and scan the rocky terrain, watching for any signs of civilization or the Black Stars.

“Pay back the debt”

A single thought that you repeat in your head to keep you riding through the night.

A single reminder of why you were on your quest for revenge.

The small motor in the rear of your steed rumbles and vibrates, keeping you awake as you slowly make your way down the gulch. Unfortunately, fatigue has started to set in and you struggle keeping your eyes open, but you needed to get your revenge.

You get off your horse, and quickly set up camp by the riverside. As you lie there in your tent, you pull out a small gold coin with a silver skull emblazoned on it, and you think back to that day.

--------------

You were only a child back then…

Your sight slowly drifts into darkness before the events of that day vividly flow like a holofilm. The late noon sun shining brightly as you last remembered, and the sound of joy and laughter echoing all around.

Practicing Kung-Fu with your Pa on the ranch, the scent of Ma’s sweet Caramapple Pie filling the entire ranch, family and friends laughing and singing at the table…

But that’s when all colour seeps out of the world as if someone took water to a finished painting.

Dark riders with a Shattered Star…screams and fire…hiding inside a hay bale with hands against your ears, Pa lying on the ground, and those words from the top-hatted leader as he held out his glowing plasma pistol.

“Sorry for the mess, pardner. Here’s something for the trouble.”

The top-hatted man flips a coin onto your Pa’s chest before slowly pulling the trigger.

If only you had that down and dirty bastard in your hands, you’d…you’d…

The drugs are starting to wear off; helped in no small part by the blast of chill air as the helicopter bay doors open and the whining staccato of a staggered shot pattern of plasma bolts at the ground below.

So this is it. Behram.

You observe the prison island; the rivulets going through and marking it roughly in three, the signs of life and civilization - a few huts there, buildings there, groups of people banded together.

It doesn't look /that/ cold.

The whoopwhoop of the helicopter rotors change rhythm, and the craft descends. The guard accompanying you pressed a button, and your magnetically sealed handcuffs release into two separate squares that are still attached to your wrists.

And then, with a grin, he shoves you out of the helicopter, into the water below, where the three rivulets meet.

This is an experiment in several things for me; one, to see how well this handles the GMing itch, two, to trying out this crazy 'quest' thing, and three, to put a game system I've been working on through some paces in the background. (Don't worry, not gonna bring that to the front too much, but it does mean there are some system rules I'll be bringing up as relevant, and there'll be some assistance with character generation based on the answers y'all give.)
As an experiment, I'm committing to 15 threads, minimum (which may take long if life/IRL rears it's gaming curse head), and from there we'll see.

Greetings, rulers, royals and republicans!
Chancellor here. I'm sorry yesterday's turn didn't get updated - I had an appointment I forgot about, which messed my entire schedule up.

>REICHSFUEHRER SNAKE
You engage several prominent members of the priesthood in theological debate, and astound all of them with your Biblical knowledge. This, combined with your incredible mercy to the traitor, ordering him to be given a proper burial, means that most of your men and several clergymembers, even other Hordes' troops, are now unified behind your claim to theological rule, though it will take the destruction of these pagans to fully convince the last doubters.

You order your men to lay siege to Ksov and Kate's. Initially, this seemed tough, as the pagans know the land well, and launched many raids, so you decide to inspect your offensive capabilities at Ksov. When you arrive, rain pouring down from the sky, a veritable miracle happened - lightning struck from the sky, smashing the gates of the fort! Seeing this as a sign from the Lord, you rally your men and lead the charge, slaughtering everyone inside. After sending one horribly mutilated defender to Kate's, they quickly decide to accept your offer of surrender. The Forts are yours!

>Add 1000 Archers
The fortification of what once were mere temporary settlements has led to an increasing number of people settling down there for protection. You number amonst the people that abandoned the nomadic ways. Sadly, this has led to you losing the respect of those who already contested your rule, and even those that still follow you faithfully have stated they will not even consider settling down before this war is over.

You did your best to organize a relief effort, but not much could be missed; of the things your nation has aplenty, the colonies need none - spices do not sustain a man. They prove to be quite hardy, though, and at least the colony survives.
>ETC: 4 Turns

You send out geologists to find you mineral wealth. Alas, they return empty-handed.
Fortunately - or it seems so at first - those you sent to seek men of science do not. They bring with them a man whose eyes continually dart around in paranoia. Before you can even welcome him, he takes a knife and draws blood from his arm, spitting a curse in an ancient and terrible language.

"Because," Ick replied, "The machine is 55% complete, so we have concerns about this situation that this would have a 50/50 chance of either it would work or not and this is the reason that we needed a volunteer."

"Alright then," Ock said, "that's enough responses, it's time to stop asking the question and start raising your hands. Who's want's to be our volunteer for our experiment?"

The students then start to raise their hands and yelling "ME! PICK ME!", while Crystal was afraid to raise her hand because she will be exposed if Ick and Ock would choose her as a volunteer.

You slink into the rubble under the bridge, shivering as the unmistakeable treads of a tank pass overhead, kicking grime into your face from the bridge bottom.

>"For....for king and country."

You wait for them to pass, and then hoist yourself up, sliding down to the bottom of the dry riverbed. You walk out from under the bridge, keeping your rifle at the ready. Overhead, German bombers fly. You can hear distant gunfire and yelling, but you can't pinpoint the source. Your squad was wiped out, and you are now trapped behind enemy lines with no obvious choice.

>>813865
You sigh, deciding to be brave, picking up your rifle and climbing out of the trench. You climb out, holding your rifle steady as you head into town.

The town is surprisingly empty, and you advance through with little trouble. It seems the Germans have been advancing quickly. You jog down an empty street.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see figures. You look up to the windows of one of the buildings beside you. There, a group of civilians near the window, watching you. You stop and stare back at them. For some reason, they aren't phased. Why haven't they left? Why are they standing there, watching while their town is obliterated?

You hear footsteps behind you, and turn to see a group of soldiers coming towards you. You move to raise your rifle, but you quickly see the insignias on their uniforms. English, thank the lord. They are coming at you at a dead sprint.

25 years ago, at the age of 5, you were conscripted into the war-horde of Chief Oldskull. Last night, that very same war-horde was shattered by Dragonian Kingdom, who in their darkest hour were aided by Nethot the Black Dragon. You've miraculously survived, having awoken in the fallen shell of a siege tower. Your right eye is wounded badly, by what you cannot remember.

Currently in the Frontier, a wide berth of untamed plains that separate "orc lands" from those of men, you must decide where you will head. North is the human bastion you assaulted. Westward is the independent human Republic of Fallharbour. Southward are the remains of your war-horde, broken and fleeing.

The colony of Besniana is a warzone. Multiple factions tear the colony apart. Chemical and nuclear weapons wreak havoc on the planet's weather. Thunderstorms wipe entire towns off of the surface. Fleets wipe each other out in the outer atmosphere, preventing anyone from fleeing. And now, a rogue faction is threatening to launch nukes at the nearest other colony.

Enter you. The captain of Earth's flagship, you decided to take a strike force down to assault their base in force.

But it was a trap.

(Switched to laptop so IP might be different, Sorry if the exposition is rushed, I just wanna get the rising action out of the way)

Your dropship team broke through the storm clouds, advancing towards the enemy base. A large series of buildings and bridges, snaking through a large rocky island. Black, demented rain impacts off the cockpit of your ship.

>"Visibility is low, Cap. You wanna call it?"
>"No, if we run away now, we're putting millions of lives at risk. Keep going."

He nods and continues forward.

You move back to the bay, looking to your men as you move past them. They all salute you as you move past. You nod and smile at several of them. You are a hero to all of them. You don't exactly enjoy that responsibility. You've seen enough brave men and women die under your command.

You look out the tiny window on the side. You see the other dropships moving with yours, streaming through the darkness. You feel some of your uneasiness go away. Between the hundreds of trained men and the many armed FE-39 dropships, taking the base will be an inevitability.

Suddenly, the closest dropship lights up and explodes into fire. You recoil as your COM flares up.

"PDWs! It was a trap! They're gonna tear us apart!"

A red streak flares through the night, and another dropship explodes. A mechanical drone walks over, grabbing your shoulder.

"Sir, please take a seat."

You're a beautiful, unique, 300-lb landwh- I mean, chubby 14 year-old girl. You hate white, cis males and you use this amazing site called 'tumblr' where people share your opinion and won't call you insane if you feel like telling people you think you're an animal.

Your name on tumblr is Dio Brando and you have four followers: Kitsune ,Anita Sarkeesian, and two proud womyn. Kitsune is your fox-kin friend from school, and while he's a white cis male, he also thinks he's a fox, so he's cool. Anita is apparently some popular feminist, but she seems like she's only popular because she subscribes to society's standards of beauty. Psh.

You were busy demolishing the patriarchy on tumblr, but it appears the word is doomed. Some sort of evil racist misogynist dark lord has risen to power, oppressing the proud womyn Hillary Clinton. Your suspension from school has just been lifted, so now it's time to punish them, and everyone else, for oppressing the world by allowing the racist, misogynist, ablest piece of shit called Donald Trump to rise to power.

‘Hey,’ you catch the attention of The Trainer, running up closer alongside him, ‘look, I’m sorry that I haven’t been coming to the gym – I’ve just been to busy lately, and… you know what? That’s no excuse.’

‘Damn right it isn’t, my round and iffy friend.’ He snorts, pointing a finger at you with a frown that only said how much he agreed with that statement. ‘What you neglect could soon spell your end.’

‘You talking about high cholesterol?’

‘Heart disease an’ cholesterol, for your size is a given,’ he gives you an incredulous look, before turning forward; the both of you were slowly catching up to the group now, ‘you gonna tell me if being strapped to a scooter is the life you’re keen on livin’?’

He gestures to Nachi, then give you a disappointed stare.

‘KanMusu and Commander, your fates are entwined – bad habits from you can lead to their their decline.’

‘I’m not a – !’ You bite back on the annoyance in your tone. It wouldn’t serve you well here. ‘I’m not a couch potato. I’ve just been really busy.’ You sigh. He picks up the pace – you try to follow, keen to get closer to the group. ‘But if you’re willing to give me a few pointers, I’d like to have something on hand in the case I’m not – you know, not able to get to the gym. Maybe I need to lose a little bit more weight, but – !’

He barks in laughter.

‘I train you for your survival, under the lights of my temple.’ He grins at you menacingly. ‘You think you’re motivated enough through yourself in the fire, make yourself sweat, puke and tremble?

‘I can’t keep relying on people to make me better.’ You say with conviction. ‘I… I want to stand on my own two feet in when I can at every corner I can manage; the only thing that people can give me – and what I take – !’ You look away, trying to gather your thoughts better. ‘Is the chance. I don’t wanna sound too cliché, but if I don’t push myself, who else is when – ?’

‘You a crazy moron, my friend, but I hear you loud and clear.’ He gestures to your with his hand to come closer. ‘So lean over to my side, so I can whisper my secrets into your ear.’

And he does.

A minute later, you’re back with the group.

Future Naruto Quest

This quest is set within the universe of Naruto, long after the end of the series, but ignoring the events of the Boruto Manga. Of course, because this is Naruto we're talking about, the geopolitics and technology haven't advanced as quickly as they would in the real world. As such, the technology is similar to that of Boruto the Movie, and the villages you know and love are largely the same.

However, the characters will be less familiar, because as much time has passed between the Last and now as passed between the Founding of the Hidden Villages and the Main Series.

You are playing as Kuro Nijiiroh, a Hidden Leaf Chunin of twelve years. You’re a member of Hōōmaru Tachibana’s Team Seven, along with your teammates, Hakurin Hyuga, and Jimmaru ████ Uchiha. Your family consists of your older sister, an ANBU Black Ops, Shirou; your mother, the restaurateur Ki; and your father, a Hand Seals Specializing Tokubetsu Jounin.

Last Quest, Kuro attended the Jinchuuriki Conference, but had to be sent home early.

This might be the last thread before timeskip/hiatus, depending on how many sessions I run in it.

Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkworld creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

For many years, Dark Gate Academy has held back the forces of the Darkworld, kept this unspeakable evil contained within their walls. But a dark cloud approaches, and times are about to change. A new chapter in the tale of Dark Gate Academy is about to begin.

“So, are you sure you're ready for this?”

It was a good question from Saki, one that's been asked between the both of you many times. No matter how many times that you work to convince yourself that you are ready, there's those persistent little doubts, and Saki can sense them in you. You suppose it's not hard to read the conflict on your face, and Saki's concern for you consistently.

“I... yeah, of course I am, but... I don't know,” is all you're able to get out as the two of you un-board the train onto your stop, the small port-side village of Kibo... the place you grew up. You wish you felt more of a rush of nostalgia, of familiarity, but your memories of this village are limited at best. You vaguely recognise certain points in town, but the majority of it feels depressingly foreign. “Of course I want to see my parents, but...” you sigh. “I... I can handle it. It's just gonna be tough, that's all Saki... you know?”

You don't think you've even been this nervous before, but that's why she's here by your side. With a smile, Saki places her hand on your arm. “It's okay Ryoji, I'll be with you every step of the way!” she explains. “It'll be tough, but we'll brave through it together. And just think... by the end, we'll know your parents!”

“I wonder what kind of people it took to raise a delinquent like me...” you mutter.

“Well, your mom sounded nice over the phone,” Saki explains. “I'm sure there'll be nothing wrong with them.”

“Still, it's going to be so weird,” you sigh. “Meeting someone who knows me so well, and yet I can't place them at all...”

“Are... are you thinking about Nina?” Saki asks solemnly.

Nina Nagata... I name that sounds so cold on your mind. According to what you've been told by Saki and Maro, she was a girl who knew you well, likely during your childhood, yet when the two of you met, you had absolutely no memory of her. She died in your arms, forever a mystery... but your mind is so full of holes that even that image is lost to you. You have no memories of this Nina Nagata ever even existing... you can't help but feel that whoever she was, you've failed her countless times.

“It's okay...” Saki smiles, comfortingly taking your hand. “This... this is a happy occasion, Ryoji. I'm here for you, I love you... and we're gonna meet your parents.”

“Right...” you sigh. “Sorry for acting so cold, Sak. Just got a lot on my mind right now.”

Not just your parents, not just Nina... but the stone. The stone that was delivered to you in a lockbox Halloween night. The stone that could give you the power of The Stranger without any of the penalties... if you feel you can trust Stranger's word. You can't. But still, you took the stone with you... you need to be able to consider the possibility, think it through rationally before making a decision.

“We should get going,” you remark.

“Right!” Saki smiles and nods. “We've had enough delays already. Let's not forget Akemi trying to hide in our suitcase this morning!”

“Yeah, that was something,” you chuckle.

“I felt too awful to tell her she couldn't come along... luckily Raiden caught her and told her she had work to do... really saved me the painful thought of having to turn Akemi down,” Saki sighs.

“You're too nice for your own good,” you tease.

The two of you walk through this small, dirty village that is overwhelmed by the stench of fish, until Saki stops you just outside a small house with a broken black gate out front. “This is us,” Saki smiles.

“This is it, huh?” You mutter, saddened that the most memories you can attach to this house are hazy at best and completely unintelligible at worst. “This is my home... my parents, do they know that-”

“Yes,” Saki replies. “Of course, they don't know about the Darkworld... but they know you have amnesia.”

“Right...” you mutter, standing still at the gate.

“Do you want to...?” Saki asks.

>Yeah, I just needed a second.
>Could... you go first? I'm not ready to knock on that door myself.
