Talk about fishin'

I've been using the little frame lock on my last couple folders. An expensive knife isn't really high on my list of things to buy though. I think a decent full sized medium rod and spinning reel will be next. Or an ultralight with some 6lb braid.
>>709790
Why braid on an ultralight?
>>709792
Because braid is braid.
6lb is thin as hell and I won't have to worry about breaking the line if a 2lb bass swims into some weeds.
so i made a tread erlier "just out things"
i know it sucked.... butt still u got any comfy out pics worth seeing
Took this while checking the fence lines of our property after a storm.
Norway, I love you
What are some "best bang for buck" binoculars on the cheap side?

i can recommend PENTAX. i bought a used 80€ glass for 16€ ...found it at ebay.
pentax use very good prisms and twilight factors for their products.
i use the UCF R 10x21. its very compact. good for spotting, starwars design.
How do you sleep while /out/?
I got some questions as a noob myself; basically how would I be comfortable during the summer in New England?
in a sleeping bag on the ground, in a sleeping bag in a hammock. also a tiny pillow.
>>707787
Typically I curl into fetal position and lie awake pretty much all night. I sleep in snatches of a few minutes at a go til some noise or my imagination scares me out of it.
>>707791
what about the floor? It seems sleeping pads are necessary. I did some car camping once when I was young and i just remember how uncomfy it was to sleep on a tent/bag over ground.
Maybe we set up over a small rock or something
This year will be my first attempt at growing. Will be outdoors in the middle of nowhere from different strains of feminized seeds I bought online. Anyone grow their own? Tips? I'm mainly worried about how to keep them watered since it's about an hour and a half from where I live. Also when or if to prune?
>>706863
Its so simple. First get a drip system or another source of water for you plants. They are gonna drink a lot. If you grow away from your home then your main problem is gonna be people stumpling across your plants and snails/deers eating the plants.
Look up some online guides. There is 1 billion of them and they are more detailed then simple posts on a japanese noodle board.
>>706866
I read that you can bury milk jugs with small holes punched in them next to your plants and fill them with water. You think this will work? I'll only be able to get out there once a week or so. It's on private land so not too worried about people walking through.

>I read that you can bury milk jugs with small holes punched in them next to your plants and fill them with water
Will probably work but get the gallon ones and test it out to see how much is actually gonna drip from them (pr hour). When they are smaller you can use coca cola bottles and make a hole in the cap.
>once a week
Where do you live? your plants can die in 1 week without water (when they get bigger). Ive had plants that needed several liters a day (but you will probably be better off if you are planting them in the ground)

LC Thread One
Hello /out/. I would like to take you all on a journey with me, more similar to that of a joint project that I will dedicate to this board and effectively archive.
With winter ending, salt levels are slowly decreasing on this board, so I thought it would be a good time to introduce the idea.
I am starting to plan the building of an off the grid log cabin.
I am buying land in an area where I can effectively hunt, grow plants, fish, and do other /out/ related activities. This will be in the northeastern united states. I will be using the cabin as a weekend getaway from busy city life.
About me ..
I have been a lurker on /out/ for 2 years now and this is my first ever post. There is no other place id rather get advice from than /out/, i know that there are people here that will put me in the right direction.
My /out/ experience is not great but I am ready to learn. Id like to get back to nature, starting with the basics. Ive been learning how to handle fire arms, start and build fires, chop down trees properly, etc etc. I am physically fit and will be purchasing an out vehicle by the end of the year ( currently own a 2005 chevy astro, going to buy an old ford pickup ) Funds aren’t a problem for this project but i still want to make it an honest and genuine project from scratch.
When all is said and done I would like to dedicate something on my property to the members of /out/ who helped me on this journey.
Basically every thread i decide to create, I would like to take valuable information from anons and use it towards my log cabin project in the future. As long as i get one useful idea or tip per thread i make, then it is successful.
Currently heading to a rugby match but I will be back this evening to check back on this thread. I know there is a lot of good people on /out/ so I’m looking forward to this. Thanks!
This is Anon Mick reporting for duty.
Last thing; pic related is a cabin made by a youtuber, there are many faults in it but i don't think its a bad base idea. any comments on it? the link to the video is ; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkml0yavPvA
What sort of info are you looking for mate?
>>685376
I am probably much younger than you, but I'm planning to do this once I get a bit older and have more funds
torn between the north face recon and the osprey comet.. thoughts welcome please
Direct action dust. It has enough molle to bring danby brown to his knees
>North Face
>designs a bunch of overpriced consumer garbage for casuals. Only white girls fall for the meme
>Osprey
>Entire company is based on giving the highest quality hiking/backpacking gear available
Hmm
>>711739
I have the Osprey Quasar that I use as a daypack and carry-on while traveling. The Comet was one of the packs I was considering.
Im recovering from surgery and can't leave the house , post some nice pics from your /out/ings so i can remember the outside world
coyote tracks ahead of me

I came back to my house the day after hurricane Ike and found a red wing dove amongst the downed trees.
I took him inside and put him in a box for a few hours. Once he dried out and rested he was fine.
I let him go later that day.

>>710847
Margarette River. Go surf your ass off.
ningaloo reef
Hamlin bay

Little bay north of Geraldton, plenty of good spots around Albany, and up from Broome.
I leave trash behind in the fire pit.
>>710802

>>710802
I leave lots of beer cans in the fire pit and my morning shit to top it all off
>>710802
Nice.
I once fucked a housecat and seeded inside it.
Relatively new to going /out/ but have been a boy scout and have a lot of hiking experience. I live in NE Ohio and my question is: where can I go camping? Preferably off trail and not in a campsite?
Google search it. National forest service provides good information about their land.
So I can camp anywhere in a national forest?...It doesn't have to be on a designated campground?
>>710711
Forest no. Parks I believe they want you to. I've tried making a campsite in a state park and a Ranger came by asking me to move to a designated campsite. Dunno about National Parks. But National Forests are fine. I grew up on land adjacent to one and always built random shit up there. Never even ran into another person besides some stoner looking guy carrying a pellet gun. I was 12 and he asked if I had a lighter. He was probably 16-7 years old smoking cigarettes like a faggot.
Looking for a job that will let me be /out/ in the woods. I'm going to college soon but don't know specifically what I want to do. I'm interested and good at math and the 3 big sciences (Chem, bio, physics) and with computers.
Anyone here work in one of these areas out in some remote spot? I'm planning on building a small home with my paps in the future, but don't want to be constrained to staying near an office with a cubicle.
Bumpin with another pic I took today in the snow
>>710694
Stunning. Where is that?
Bio will have boatloads of /out/ jobs. There's a shitload of hiking and hauling heavy ass gear in the field of ecology.
>>710708
In truckee, went on a hike with my brother and some other people and looked at some abandoned train tracks.
Also yeah I figured bio would definitely have some outdoors stuff, although I might miss plugging and chugging equations in calc.
