A thread for the godawful "tactical survival" gear that infests every "cool shit you can buy" site. Looking for products with zombie in the name is usually a good start.

I found this monstrosity the other day.

Used on 12'x12' Kelty Noah's tarp for max holding poiwer in wind.

But for my freestanding dome tents I tend to trade up to Ti shepard hooks.

Hey guys I am going to be in the military for at least the next 10 years. I am going to save up money to buy a place and live happily.

What are some dreamy outdoor towns that are affordable?

so far my top pick is Chattanooga, Tennessee. i like the mixture of city and outdoor.

Bonus if you can tell me one in Colorado or anything with a mountain range!!!

if i had the money and other things in my life weren't as they are...
i would buy land somewhere in the adirondacks and homestead/go on long ass hunting trips in the state forests there.

not allowed to own a gun because of reasons. it really is beautiful there, i agree. i want to make that dream happen anyway. just minus the hunting part.

You don't need much money to be /out/, in fact, some of the most /out/ people I know haven't worked in years.

Imagine what your cost of living would be if you didn't have rent/mortgage, car payment, utility bills, insurance(s)... the list goes on. Carry your home on your back, and travel with the seasons.

Better question, why do we find jewels and shiny things so appealing?

My theory is it comes from spotting ripe fruits and colorful berries being important to our evolutionary survival.
>>
>>713697
Actually it's more along the lines of why some cultures value fat people... having the spare time to create and wear decoration is a status symbol.
>>
>>713699
Yeah, like exhibiting all your surplus energy in the form of finely crafted rare things.
But I'm talking about the initial attraction to things that make them decorative in the first place, why are opals and volcanic glass and emeralds so cool?

Any cheap/good methods of doing so? Wouldn't mind just using cordage to do so, as long as I can get it out of it's bindings with relative ease and speed.

Not sure what your purpose is for bringing a hatchet so I won't hate too much but that's pretty much deadweight if you're doing any kind of backpacking bro. If you really want to bring it I would combine caribiners with cordage to make it easy to access.

Maybe unlace it and move the tongue around, move it to center and tie em up tight? If it's been like that a while the leather has been accustomed to being that shape.

River shitting is not a meme, but river shitting is a meme is a meme. Let's just get the misinformation about it out of the way. It's logical and a legit thing, some do it, some don't, don't be a hater.

We shall assume everyone is now up to speed on river shitting and can proceed with other methods.

ok fishos, im really curious on this one.
post a pic of your current most favourite lure that seems to just work wonders in the waters you fish.

For me its the Savage Gear TPE shrimp (pic related).
This lure has never failed to catch fish. I can throw hardbodies, crankbaits or spinners and catch nothing, then use this and clean up on all species, freshwater or saltwater. SEQ fisherman here.
>>
>>712752
I was really interested in that lure. Happy to hear it works that well, at least somewhere. How do you work it?
Ill post a pic later today of my best.

>you will never live in the Colorado Rockies being 100% self sufficient energy wise and only needing to occasionally leave your haven to buy bulk food at Costco

>not living like a man

Why even live family? It's my dream to buy a house with 20+ acres of land in the Rocky Mountains. Why the fuck can't they be cheap like houses here in Texas? I don't want to fucking live here but everywhere else is so fucking expensive.

>>

>Why the fuck can't they be cheap like houses here in Texas
Because they are actually desirable places to live unlike Texas.

But seriously, too many people in this country now and they all want the American Dream: house, land, 2.2 kids, and all that jazz. The dream is (or will be) over soon. It will just be unaffordable for most people.

I watched it happen where I grew up in the Midwest. Land prices have increased so much that the only people that can afford to buy are rich liberals from San Francisco and iinvestor with Chinese backers. And since the price is high, the land is becoming more fragmented as the baby boomers inherit properties and then attempt to cash out by selling off small portions - 5 acres, 10 acres (which are essentially useless sizes for most people by the way).

Its likely I will never be able to afford property where I grew up. And from what I can tell, that's happening everywhere. Something's gotta give eventually.
>>
>>713693
Meh. I live in Texas and I do that already. I'd love to live in colorado for the weed thing, but I feel like we might get at least some reform in that area in the next 10 years.
