So what are your big /out/ plans this summer?

I've just moved to Paris and I'm thinking about what to do this July/August. I have about a month to hike and preferably camp wild. I'll probably go to northern Spain like last year. Gorgeous.

Im gonna leave my life behind and live on the road/rails for the rest of my life. Im leaving right around july or august too, and my first destination is paris. Gonna panhandle there for a bit and then move down south to spain and into portugal. I heard theres a great hippie/hobo/tramp culture down there. After that i want to go to italy, and then east europe for the nature. After that i'll see where life takes me.

We could go together from paris to spain with a hobo if you like.

I'm gunna go to Wales (you can get Eurostar to London, underground to Paddington then go west to wales.) its the most beautiful country on this planet. I'm gunna climb Snowdon, and paddle on the wye, hopefully do some canyons and waterfalls too. Caerphylly castle is a must see, and I heard there's a sweet look out up behind it.

I'd love to get started on it, but would love some advice.

Prices for a decent rig?

If anyone has any good links or video tutorials for very beginners on it, please share. I've tried looking on Google and Youtube but I'm having a hard time finding things that explain everything on it?

>Remember your adventures

Do you like to taking pictures when you're hiking/outdoors?

Taking pictures takes me out of the moment. It kinda feels inauthentic; like the awkwardness of taking a selfie.
I'd rather just enjoy the moment and scenery and move on. If it was good I'll remember it and if not it's probably not worth taking a picture off anyway.

What are some other ways to capture a moment? I'm thinking about keeping a travel log and bringing my sketchbook.

I'm gonna be taking a huge trip in a few months and I'm gonna be using a gopro with a chest cam and a lot of batteries and recycling sd cards. That way I get to experience everything first hand, but still get to take everything with me.

ah the ae-1 program. a classic. I do some mild wildlife photography. sometimes camp setups and such or interesting things I come across. I rarely have done a self photo and none of my friends are really very good photographers.

I know the feeling. One thing that really helps is limiting (or limiting entirely) your "chimping".

That is - Taking a photo and immediately looking at the LCD screen. Inevitably this makes you disappointed and take another and the cycle repeats.

Learn about exposure, then disable automatic LCD reviewing in the menu. Makes it much mor enjoyable and "in the moment man" etc

hey Britain, hows the queen?

So I have a TNF Borealis pack (like this onehttps://www.google.it/search?q=borealis+new&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiF96DLs6nLAhXDOhQKHRBYAVgQ_AUICSgE#tbm=isch&q=borealis+new+north+face&imgrc=eJEsPWVSWlZqqM%3A ), and I wanted to put some velcro on the front of it.

The thing is, the cordura is very hard and I broke 2 needles trying to do it, also the position of the front pouch is very awkardly placed so I don't know how to proceed.

Do I have to take this shit to a tailor ?
Someone tried and managed to do it ?

Enlightened Equipment Revelation is finally here! Caught the backside of Christmas orders and that was about 5-6 week backorder.

Got what I wanted, very higj quality materials and craftsmenship!

Sized for quilt cover over two bags or as summer quilt/bag for one.

The EE Revelation zips closed at the feet with a drawstring on the end and has straps to secure under pad for the top.

Put on top of my queen size bed, the long, xwide covers side to side and has a taper at the feet.

20D outer, 10D inner, 850PF downtek, 10*F rating.

Sooo comfy!

Units must be in ounces. Back from my doper dayz, 28+ grams ==1 ounce.

There is no way my new quilt is 1 oz!

Must be 29.5oz, a bit under 2lbs.

Again, sorry for the confusion, it is all on my end.

I buried a snake under my white Mediterranean fig tree aprox 1 year ago, i just found big maggot grubs on the top soil after clearing away the spring clovers(weather is broken in California atm). Do i have something to worry about? My fig tree is 25+ years old and i'd hate to see grubs destroy its root system.

pic exactly related

You saw beetle larvae, most likely chafers of some description. They were likely eating funguses or rotting root nodules near your tree and won't damage it. However, Beetles are crazy diverse and you could have just seen carrion beetle larvae that ate your very decayed snake.

How big were they?

I'm a big fan of my Primus Yellowstone Classic. It's not the lightest or fanciest stove but it's rugged as fuck and cost $20.

As for cookware I prefer stainless steel. Not the lightest stuff, but again durable and affordable.

Hey man, I just watched it. I feel like it could have been condensed a bit, you visit the same spots a few times. Also you need a better mic and a way to prevent picking up all that noise.

/k/ here, and I was looking for an axe to take innawoods, along with my bk7.

I was checking this "viking light ax" out
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpRBsqGPDB8

as well as this CRKT T-Hawk.
http://www.crkt.com/woods-chogan-thawk-axe-2730

I don't know much about these things, as I've not yet had a use for one. But I may need one soon as I'm going innawoods for several days in the spring. Are spikes useful or should I get one with a hammer as well, can't I just use the side of the axe as one?

The straight wood handle. The way history has proven what these axes and tomahawks were for.

Anybody spent any time in Wisconsin? I am doing a road trip and I want to hit each region of the state.

Any opinions? is it worth checking out?

I'm a Wisconsin Native and I honestly can't say much about our state forests/parks but I can recommend some stuff with a bit more information. When are you taking the road trip? What is your time frame for the trip? Do you want to visit the regions in any particular order?
>>
Another Wisconsin native here. Northern highlands are loaded with lakes if you like fishing, otherwise basically everywhere but the southeast corner is woodlands or very rural
>>
Coming from a native, stay away from the southern half of the state, but if you have to kettle moraine and the lower Wisconsin River are alright. I guess you should probably go see the dells, but it's crawling with Chicagoans in the summer. Apostle Islands is definitely the most /out/ place here. Door county is nice too.
