is it true that women have melanin receptors in their vaginas that release extra dopamine when they detect a darker mate?
Hey there, /o/. I've doing research into a first vehicle for myself and thus far, I'm thinking a mini truck/kei truck is gonna be my best bet. The main features I'm looking for here is as follows:
>Reliable
>Economic
>Room to carry crap
>Easy to fix myself
>Easy to drive and park
>Modest off road potential
>Bonus points for style
I've emailed an importer and he said that it would cost me around $3500-$5000 to buy a truck in japan, import it to where I'm at, and get all the legal nonsense dealt with. However, I know crap all about cars, so I don't know how good these things actually are in comparison to normal cars. Is this stupid for me to want one of these things? What are some other options that meet most of what I'm looking for?
There will be no parts and no people who know how to work on them outside of Japan
>Is this stupid for me to want one of these things?
Yes
>What are some other options that meet most of what I'm looking for?
Ford Ranger 4x4 5 speed or a Tacoma 4x4 5 speed

kei cars are very small automobiles meant to fit into a tax bracket. they're mostly city cars. by japanese law they're restricted to 660cc (iirc) and 64hp (iirc). They're basically the ultimate shitbox.
Something to be mindful of is that japan does get snow which means their cars get rust. be prepared to have to do some body work.
>Is this stupid for me to want one of these things
hell no. They're a neat facet of the automobile industry. but be warned that it will be more of a project car/collector's car than a daily.

Just mounted my summer wheels/new tires. First time I dun it.
Got new BF goodrich advantage TA Sport tires.
Managed to get 2013 Fusion wheels for free for my 2008.

I think the wheels r pretty nice for my shitbox.
Validate my shitbox /o/

>Summer tires
I have bad news for you anon. Don't know how you managed to fuck this up, but those are just regular all season passanger car tires. Wheels look nice, but if your goal was sporty you wasted your money. Granted, it could be argued that buying sticky summer tires would be a waste of money for a Fusion.

Need to vent... Post the worst excuses for cars you've ever had to work on.
Pic very, very related. Chevrolet Aveo, owned by my girlfriend. Piece of shit is barely 6 years old and still has less than 100K miles.
In 2014 the ignition coil fried out, and only In the last year that I've had to deal with this heap, the AC compressor has given out, I've seriously had to replace the headlight/tail light/turn signal bulbs more times than I can count, and I don't really understand this one but I swear to christ the windshield somehow splintered and cracked while cruising through a parking lot... I don't even fucking know how. The on-dash clock has also gone out and keeps resetting the time, which is apparently a common issue due to poor soldering. The plastic intake also split and cracked, which was supposed to be a $300+ fix because Chevy in their infinite retardation put some sort of a MAF sensor directly into the tube. Ended up patching the tube myself as best I could with just fucking resin and tape to seal it off.
Besides the actual PROBLEMS on the car, the overall build quality just screams shit. The interior is the crappiest, shittiest plastic I've ever seen. Everything feels and looks like absolute bottom of the barrel material.
She also got in a pretty minor fender bender last year (impact was probably under 15 mph), but since the rear subframe has the strength of a goddamned rubber band the entire rear section of the cars suspension had to be replaced. Fucking wheel bowed inwards like it was connected with spaghetti.
Seriously can't even describe how much I hate this car. Boring to drive, and WAY more hassle and work than the piece of shit is worth. Thank christ she's wanting to sell it and buy either a Miata or a Z3/Z4 soon.
tl;dr - Chevrolet Aveo is the worst excuse for a car I've ever had to deal with. Absolutely horrible. Just had to get that out of my system. Share your story of heaps.
My grandma has a base model 2012 fiesta with an automatic. Purchased brand new against advice but whatever. Worst car I've ever driven, it feels like the first shift is at 5 mph, it's cramped and filled with cheap plastic. It only has 28k grandma driven miles on it and switches and electrical shit is already starting to break. I'm sure it'd be better with a stick or the ST ones but the base model is absolute shit.

Honestly not to be "that guy" but I seriously just don't think economy cars are something that domestic manufacturers do well. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc just do a way fucking better job of those.
And I feel your pain on the Ford automatic transmissions. I hate the electronic "lag" they have programmed into the throttle as well, absolutely horrendous. There's a full 1->2 second delay between pegging the throttle to when the car will actually provide the air/fuel to rev up.
honestly any 6.2 detroit motor makes me want to commit soduku when I work on it. fuck that thing.
I swear to god they run on blowby and sheer fucking luck.
Can we talk car covers, Men?
I store one of my cars at my parents house because I don't have a garage and they only use half of theirs. Recently my mother has started making some type of junk out of pumpkins and gourd "decorations" and asked me to park my car outside so she can dedicate the rest of the garage to making this shit to sell on eBay.
I tried to reason with her but she's pretty adamant about putting all this junk in the garage and not letting me use it anymore.
Don't have the money to rent a storage unit big enough to fit my car so I'm going to just park it outside their garage.
What are some things to look for and stay away from as far as car covers go? I've literally never used one once because I've always had the luxury of climate controlled garages up until last week. I have a mid size 4 door sedan, Without spending enough to build another garage...Which make car cover would you suggest?
Is mold an issue?
Should it go all the way down past the wheels? Or should it only go around the body?
Does it protect against sap?
Just that word sends shivers down back
None of you have car covers?
Not a one huh?
Lol, enjoy having fucked paint so your Mom can carve gourds twice a month before growing bored with it. Car covers don't protect the underside of your car from the elements, the rubber is going to degrade much faster, and many car covers scratch your car when they go on or off. Honestly, I would just get a storage unit if this is a "over winter while in uni" situation. You'll come back to your nice summer car being completely fucked. If this is just a beater already and all you want to do is keep off leaves and sap and crap, that's okay I guess.
>Ask me how I know
Why do you need to use a cover? And if you do need to use one, then you damn well better take it off occasionally before the trapped water starts eating away at the car. Most covers will only go around the body, you can also get tire covers if needed. They should stop sap from coming through, but again, you need to remove the cover on a regular basis. Just get one that's heavy enough because thinner covers just fall apart from the weather.
