The USDM model EP3 Si came with the K20a3 engine which doesn't have real VTEC - it has an eco-VTEC which simply changes from a 12-valve to 16-valve at 2,200 RPM. Shit, the cams only have 2 lobes per set of valves where real VTEC requires 3.

It has another fake-VTEC feature that kicks in at 5,000 RPM - the intake manifold switches to shorter runners.

It's a pretty good car though but don't expect it to be fast. I know this because my first car was a K20a3-equipped base-model RSX 5-sp which I raced and modded.

Of all the modern GTI's, I think the Mk5 looks the best, and is the best overall. The Mk1 and 2 are classics though.
