Ok /o/, first car thread. Post cars that'd YOU personally consider fun/reliable, etc. Pic related, it's the car I wanna buy but everyone says that it costs a ton to maintain.
Literally and unironically a generic and affordable Honda, Toyota, Subaru, or entry level commuter from chevy/ford if you really want an American shitbox.
I personally started on a full size 80s chevy truck and did just fine by it for a couple years and I've heard of people starting out with classics or sportier cars but you really have to like throwing money at them or not driving them often.
fast, fun, reliable, cheap, easy to maintain
but i don't really care for them
first car for someone to own, or first /o/ tier car?
first car i ever owned was a 94 V6 S10, and it stuck by me just fine. If youre not into trucks, and 90s econobox like a camry or corolla is perfectly fine
but let me say this tho. you DO NOT want an AW11 as your first car
I asked this in the daily bike thread, but nobody answered me. What is this guy driving? Looks cool as heck and I want to research them and maybe see if I can buy one.
Here's the video for reference. Skip to 4:12

Come on, /o/. Don't let me down a second time.

It's just a scooter with a box/rear axle. Looks like some homemmade slavshit. There's lots of these ghetto-esque creations driving around former Soviet shitholes.
can we get one of these threads going?
here's the badly cropped template
Fine, I'll bite.

On phone and I only can type.
At 10 - Bugatti Fucking Veyron
At 16 - Lexus LFA
Current Age - I still love the LFA and hope I one day make it there but currently I'm in the verge of buying a WRX after a year of research.
So i have to buy a car for uni because the places i have to go are not really near each other. (Europe btw)
I thought about a Renault (Dacia) Duster because of the following reasons:
-it's kinda cheap (10k € + for a brand new one)
-can handle shitty roads
-you can sleep in it (in case of spontaneous festival alarm)
-storage room
So far this is the most suitable car for me for the cheapest price. Does anyone know a better/cheaper/less gas using aequivalent for the Duster?
>>17449293
Oh and what i forgot to mention is that the insurance is not too expensive as well since its not a "beginner car" or a model thats known for being in crashes etc.
>>17449293
Good News!
Cheaper? Not really
Better? Sure
The build qualiy aint all that great. Plastic on the underside/wheel arches don't like gravel and crack/penetrate very easily, electrics aint all that great with plenty of ignition faults, diesel pumps make a habit of shitting themselves, paint that flakes around the front of the hood and edges of the doors
They are also way too light on the front end for winter driving, the AWD system is "meh" and it feels cheap, even for how cheap it is
A second-hand Suzuki SX4, Toyota RAV4 or Honda CRV is a much better option

/CCG/ - Classic Car General
Stripping paint edition.
Bring your classic and lets all get rust in our eyes together.
>Cars are considered classic at 25 years old
>Everybody has their own taste, enter if it's of age
>Post your classic, your work on it, and get advice
>Any and all discussion about classics welcome
>Rust is a bitch, and not for the faint of heart; tread lightly
>You will inevitably spend twice your budget, no exceptions
>That classic you're eyeing on Craigslist probably needs a shit ton of work

Don't think I got a reply in the last thread, so I'll ask again. Is a Ford 9 inch 3.50 posi worth 350?
>couldn't find part I need at junkyard
>proceed to take 10 ford badges, lugnuts, bolts into pockets
That'll teach 'em
>>17435380
I personally think so. They're pretty popular for good reason, they're good axles.
Why are Jeeps popular amongst women?
Some whore started to drive her husbands around town and got looks, then a chain reaction happened and now the small offroader is a thing of the past.

Because being high up in a car makes them feel like better drivers

What a faggot
>>17445848
You're right
I change my own oil/tires, fixed a leaking sunroof but i'm not good mechanically
My local mechanic is cheap but this car is a money pit
I just had a go in an i3 and I've got to say, these things are awesome.
>seriously comfortable
>VERY quick
>miniscule running costs
My current shitbox car costs me, monthly, ~£100 in fuel, £60 road tax and £40 insurance. I could lease onenif these things insurance included for ~£300pm and pay barely any fuel and no tax.
>road tax
>monthly
lol yurocucks
>>17459849
Americans pay road tax too, only it's not called road tax, it's much higher, and our politicians don't spend it maintaining our roads.
I'd much prefer to have neatly separated taxes that go to specific funds so they're harder to misappropriate
>60 pounds tax a month
Explain yourselves, Britfags.
I'm looking for my first car, preferably rwd or awd and manual, and i stumbled across a low milage 2006 ralliart for very much within budget. Anyone own one of these that can tell me something about it? Looks comparable to a impreza 2.5rs
yeah, they're slow pieces of shit
get a real car instead
>>17459504
160 hp isn't super quick sure, but I dont need too much as long as it can corner well. Plus i can probably turbo it as a project at some point, tools and a garage arent an issue. If you own one, how does it handle?
CALLING RALLIART BRO
>PLS RESPOND
>never drove manual
>buy manual sports car
>feel slow as fuck on launch
Does it get better or was I memed into buying a slow piece of shit? I learned how to drive manual really fast, it's easy. It's just when I'm taking off from a dead stop in first gear it takes too long. How do I get a good launch? Before I got the car I was looking forward to faggots pulling up and trying to race me at a red light but now I'm scared because I'll either take off too slow or stall the thing. Other than that manual is fun.
You'll have to learn to be less afraid of dropping the clutch. Learn how to preload the drivetrain if you want to minimize wear and tear from aggressive launches.
>>17459050
>I learned how to drive manual really fast, it's easy
Judging from the rest of your post I have found this statement to be false and have come to the conclusion that you inhale penises at an alarming rate.
>>17459050
>Go to empty parking lot
>Practice
You'll be fine if you follow this easy two step process.
>want a rwd stick shift for under 5k
>only options are v6 mustangs and old beat up beamers
Why is this Earth so fucking gay
Get a Ranger, fag.

I'm not driving a fucking manual pick up truck that's for fucking faggots
>New midsize trucks are just as large/larger then full size trucks of 15 years ago
What the fuck is this shit? Why can't we have a nice mini truck like a early 2000's Ranger/Tacoma/S10/Frontier anymore?
Do I really gotta keep my beat up Ranger running forever because there's nothing to really replace it.

I'd love if everyone could boycott modern automobiles and stop buying them, but that would be difficult to coordinate. Why buy a new car, when a used one runs and drives just fine and has character to boot?
The car becomes for sale in 2 months. Why are they still keeping the numbers a secret? Everything from HP to track times to 0-60. What are they hiding?
Isn't 455HP already confirmed?
>>17458353
No, its a rumor
>>17458343
i wish they kept the old styling
althought i think the added benefits outway the uglier exterior
especially if yah opt for the auto
can you guys convince me not to buy an rx8
I feel like i've fallen in love with this car and yet I can't find a good enough deal to get one
but i'm also worried that it may not be all I've built it up
also rotary general
If you can't afford to buy two you can't afford to own one. Apex seals are gonna blow, don't do it anon.
Shit gas mileage for the low power rating. Overpriced for how often they break down.
those are the main reasons
>>17458144
>>17458106
I've read that if you re build the engine every 60k miles it'll run fine
is this true?
also that thing about if you can't buy 2 then don't buy one is good advice
