>New midsize trucks are just as large/larger then full size trucks of 15 years ago
What the fuck is this shit? Why can't we have a nice mini truck like a early 2000's Ranger/Tacoma/S10/Frontier anymore?
Do I really gotta keep my beat up Ranger running forever because there's nothing to really replace it.

I'd love if everyone could boycott modern automobiles and stop buying them, but that would be difficult to coordinate. Why buy a new car, when a used one runs and drives just fine and has character to boot?

Nobody would boycott that because people actually value those features.

Again, none of these are reasons that trucks are so massively oversized now. It all has to do with avoiding EPA standards with heavier and heavier vehicles.

Wouldn't a lighter/smaller vehicle get better MPG tho?
>>17458808
Larger vehicles don't have to meet the same expectations as smaller cars. This is why we will never see light trucks in the US.
Maybe Trump will eliminate CAFE altogether and let the market decide on fuel economy.
>implying full size trucks haven't been 80 inches wide for the last 40 or 50 years
They only get slightly longer with every generation because longer hoods look more MUH MANLY and to provide more interior space so that suburban dads can drive them to the office and haul their family on the weekends.

It's always the government...
This is why.

this. in america, emissions standards for new vehicles are based on wheel base or some arbitrary shit like that.
