>this kills the ICE
Anyone interested in knowing how this car will actually handle? With RWD, if it's < 4000 lbs and all the weight sits at the bottom, can we hope that it handles at least as well as a modern BMW 3 series?
Obviously can't expect Tesla to work miracles with no experience in suspension tuning, but I hope this car has some driving personality because the RWD combined with EV torque sounds like it has potential to be fun, at least on paper.

driving isn't "fun"
So /o/, I recently purchased a Honda Fit as my new daily driver, working out pretty well so far, only one problem really; the shifter is quite small, at least compared to accord I used to have. I know it's a small thing, but is there an easy way to increase its height somewhat? It'd be more comfortable.
Thanks!
Viagra
shifter extension rods are super easy to find, especially for Honda fitment.

Well while viagra, AKA sildenafil, helps maintain an erection, it does not, in fact, make an erect penis larger, at least as far as I'm aware. Being erect isn't the shifter's issue here, only its size. Thanks for the input though.
my gf is car shopping and her priority list is thus, ordered by priority
>2010 or newer
>under 6 grand
>reliability
>gas mileage
>practicality (hatchback/liftback/wagon)
>manual transmission option, i taught her how to drive it
i'm normally craigslist master but those first three combined seriously limit options. Some scion TCs barely skirt under the 6k line. Plenty of kias and hyundais and they did start to get good around 2012, but not sure if they're reliable enough

Scion xb

weirdly enough there are no xb's under 6 grand by now, they're holding strong

Manual fiesta
It's in the sticky but I never see it as a well talked about car. Is there a reason for this? Is this a gem that beaners haven't touched, or is it actually just a POS?
>>17458137
It's a heavy car, but the street king fucked it up on /o/
>>17458137
We talk about it all the time on here.
It's a terrific car. Solid, quick, sexy, and reliable. This is almost 20 years after they stopped making them.
Get one that is 1-2 owner from Florida or some rich people area that hasn't beed owned by niggers and garage it, and baby it. It is a future classic. A lot have been ruined by niggers, but every other month or so, a mint one will pop up with dealer records, low miles, and a fair price.
Basically I'm in the market for a new car. I'm planning on only looking at Honda since I will get a pretty sweet deal through a friend that works at a local Honda dealer as a salesperson. His father is actually one of the co-owners and approved of this and said to come by and we will get you in a car lower than sticker.
Basically here is what I need out of it
>Room. Not to much since I'm looking in the subcompact segment but enough to be able to put stuff in it without being too cramped.
>Good reliability as this is my commuter
>Good mpg as this is my commuter
>I do need awd in the even of snow. My job requires me to be at work regardless of the weather so having the AWD even if its not a superior one helps.
>A bit of ground clearance
I LIKE the fit..but is far too small and the engine is pretty small as well. I have the same gripe about the HRV except the inside is ample but the old civic engine is a bit small for the car. Its available in 2wd and awd. I'm not sure if I can get away with just the clearance in the HRV without awd but I would feel much more comfy just having it. What do you guys think? Like I said I will be getting a sweet deal regardless.. also both cars are left over stock from 16 currently being held for me.,,,but they need to go soon and I'm probably going to scoop it up tomorrow. Once again this is limited to these two cars.
>>17457651
Just fix your current car or get a civic for 3k.
>>17457651
Why not a civic?
>>17457728
My current car is a civic probably worth 3k now lol. Its getting retired to project car status now.
Tell me why not.
>>17457366
What's its purpose?
Daily driving? No.
Track? Yes.

What are some good books to learn mechanics and how to fix a car?

Don't you know how to make sex with a girl, virgin? You just stick your weiner in her and pee, duh
Break mode
With cvts does break mode just lower the gearing ratio or does it do something else in addition
>>17456367
Jesus Christ that's horrifying, do you just have to replace the entire transmission when it breaks?
>>17456375
There are places that will rebuild them for you, but with most autotragics, you generally just slam in a new one
>>17456367
What's the "belt" made of in a car CVT?
>"Hey anon, think you can catch me meow?"
>>17456229
Do the ears add any extra drag?
>>17456235
nah they cause less drag and make the bike faster too.
>>17456354
Oh shit..well since it's the opposite of what I assumed initially..then no, I don't think I can catch you meow.
How come everyone here knows absolutely nothing about cars?
Because this is a site for Chinese television first and for cars second
>>17455963
Dude, I know a lot about cars. I just ls swapped my challenger last week.
Im sure you contribute your vast mechanical knowledge instead of making shit threa-
oh nvm
ITT, we discuss cars from the year 2000 on that are future classics.
I will start off the thread with the 2013-2014 GT500
>Last of the live rear axles
>Huge, one-off engine
>662hp, and weighs 600 lbs less than Hellcat
>any S197
>design by committee, no artistic face to its development
>no competition pedigree and common as fuck
>classic
No
The only American cars with any chance of becoming a classic that could pull Concours prices is the Ford GT and the Dodge Viper.
>>17455887
Lmao, you think a car that has been in production for 30 years with essentially no variation is going to be a classic.
>>17455887the sn95 is the worst generation of mustang, yet the terminator is worth more than any gen1 viper. and just like the gt500, it was only made for the last 2 years of production for that gen
So, what would happen if you put the car in reverse, then accelerate to lets say 40km/h, then put it in 1st gear and engage the clutch? Would the engine rotate backwards or is there something to prevent it? And if it does, what effect does it have on your engine?
>>17455544
There's a Top Gear episode where they test this exactly, with both manual and automatic transmissions. I think the auto wouldn't shift, and the manual wouldn't go into gear.
>>17455544
You're suddenly forcing the engine to change rotation. Expect serious rod knock seeing as you don't have the safeguard that autos have.
Reverse gear doesn't change the direction the engine spins.
What you would do is blow up your transmission

I really wanna see that movie but goddamn, I hate that title. Baby Driver? Seriously? It sounds like one of those stupid kids movies that gets spammed all over the internet. Like the Emoji movie or Boss Baby
And yes, I know the main character is called Baby. But still, couldn't they have just named the movie "Baby - The Driver" or something along those lines
video is just some autistic dude talking in his driver seat

>What do you do?

Would /o/ have been interested in a stationwagon version of the Chevy SS?
