So I was thinking about a Mercedes w124 as a first car and a daily driver. I really like the looks of the car and I love how it feels on the road. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to buy a car that old for everyday use.
Does any of you own a w124? Should I go for it or not?
>>17754182
Bought a w124 230e 5 speed manual 1 year ago for 1500 eurobucks. Buy it. It's awesome you will not regret it. Feels like a vault on a cloud. Did 15000km fine, she's young, 240 000km. Ask me anything.
>>17754248
How about rust? I saw lots of ads under 2000 eurobucks that had rust around the wheel arches, door trim and around front and back lights. Can I still get one that has a decent bottom?
Road worthiness inspection for older cars is liberally bashing with a hammer and looking for rust holes where I live.
>>17756574
Rust around the wheel arches is the most common. Around me 1 out of 10 have rust. Just pick one that doesn't have it and had it's fluids changed regulary.

What motor do you want? How many kilometers per year are you going to do? do you want a manual or automatic?
Take a diesel one if you do more than 15000km per year. Gas 6 cylinders eats a lot of fuel. I higly advice to take a automatic, the manual gearbox is reliable but is very akward.

"Why are Fiat cars so ugly in Europe?" thread
Their designs for other markets are great but they shit uneven crap in Eurofags like crazy.
pic is their european pickup truck the Fiat Fullback
>>17753982
now this is the South American counterpart the Fiat Toro
>>17753982
>>17753992
Both of those look fucking atrocious compared to what they're based on.
>>17754004
The Toro has it's own platform and the look is inspired not from mitsubishi but from the new Jeep Cherokee since Fiat owns Jeep
what are these exhaust flapper valve thinggys for?
what do they do?
>>17753976
Prevents rain water from pooling in the exhaust. Cmon OP think for half a second before posting a new thread.
They don`t let water in when it rains
Keeps indians form mistaking them as a shit pipe.
Why are cars of this age looking so angry?
>>17753895
They finally let women start designing them. I'd be pissed to desu.
Because eurocucks and Asians will rape them so hard on taxes when they get old that their owners will have them all euthanized.
>>17753923
She stole that design from a dude though
Okay /o/. I need a damn good driving playlist with only songs about driving and racing. Help me out.
Sample song. Songs should be like this:

Yes, I already have Eurobeat.
Bump. Does /o/ not have any good music?
>>17754915
I know it's not the usual /o/ fare, but blasting Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries is great for mountain driving.

I want to kill myself now op. Thanks for the motivation, I was hoping for some.

The fuses?
I haven't thought about that being an issue...
>>17753798
start checking wiring and cleaning grounds. if its a Ford or Nissan, might have gotten a fucked reman alternator. when i worked in a shop over half the reman alternators for Nissans and Fords we got from fucking Napa were bad right out of the box
get a voltmeter and throw it on your battery, should be 13.9-14.4ish volts. otherwise you got a fucked alt or wiring issues
The wiring in my car is totally fucked. Exposed wires hanging everywhere, bunch of fried relays, it's bad. How do I fix it? I'm probably gonna have to totally rewire everything but for now I'd just like my car to not catch on fire
>>17753776
when i was in the trade we worked on some old fucks DMC-12, what a fucking piece of shit. even a simple window regulator on those is a nightmare
i dont know what to say, last time i worked in an actual shop a few years ago we ordered some parts from Texas to here in Canada because apparently theres a warehouse in Texas that makes DMC-12 parts brand new still. might just be best ordering a whole wiring harness
>DMC-12
Take the body off and put it on a 2WD V-8 Explorer chassis (1996-2001). V-8 Explorers are $1,500 every day.

Maybe pull one from a junkyard? If not, a driveway-done rattlecan job and come out pretty decent if you take your time, and shouldn't cost more than $50.
Whats the last generation of cars that can't be hacked?
Can you hack a 996?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzWHZngfONo
https://wikileaks.org/ciav7p1/
Anything with remote locking can be hacked to a degree.
As for remotely taking complete control of your car with you in it, a 996 is probably safe.
