How much horsepower can I add to a 2003 1.6 Avensis with a turbo? Its the 3ZZ FE VVTi one. Im looking for about 250hp

>What turbo should I use?
>How many pounds of boost before the engine gets grenaded?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>17748734
youre gonna need like 20 pounds of boost to get 250hp out of that tiny engine

and that engine isnt gonna hold 20lb of boost without grenading unless you build it with forged internals which is gonna be expensive and hard
>>
>>17749287
How about 200?
>>
>>17748734

Dude its a 109 HP engine.

That said, I do not believe you could reliably ever see 250 HP, especially not WHP.

Throw a used K03 on it or something and run 10 lbs of boost and tune for 93 octane. I bet you see ~200 HP.

Even then you're nearly doubling the power at 200 or so and there are no guarantees it will hold it or if the trans can even take it.

You are honestly way better off not fucking with it, its a 1.6 commuter shitbox I really wouldn't want to invest a lot of money or time.

whats the point of double clutching compared to a regular downshift when you have to rev match anyways? >reduced wear on the synchros
but rev-matching should solve that anyways, right?
Seems like an extra step for no reason

Skipping gears.
>>
>>17748571
The point of double clutching is becuase you have a transmission where you have no synchros.

If you have a transmission with synchros then there is not reason to double clutch, just revmatch.
>>
>>17748571
because you're supposed to double clutch, not granny shift

My Supra now has about half the amount of oil it should.

The oil filter on the 7MGTE is in the most pain in the ass place imaginable. I need jack stands and some actual workspace to get at it. I don't own jack stands or a workspace.

To change all this oil completely will cost me around £70, alternatively I can just go to a garage and get them to do it for cheaper, or I can be cheap and just buy some 10w-40 and fill it up. The only downside is that I don't know what kind of oil the previous owner put in it. I'm going to sell the car in a month or so anyway.

What should I do? How bad an idea is it to just fill the engine up without knowing what is already in it? What if I change the oil but not the filter?

Going to buy a classic mini this week. Is it worth the extra few grand to get the Cooper S over the regular Cooper?

The cooper S has 23 more horsies but I'm not aware of any other differences.

Depends entirely on what year you're talking about. Is it one of the original sixties/seventies model or a 1990-2001?
>>
>>17748499
1990-2001

This particular Cooper S is from 2000, and the regular Cooper I'm looking at is from 1995.

This is in bongland btw.

Nah, I sort of guessed. Good news is you're looking at the more reliable fuel injected models. Your S would be a multipoint model while your regular would be Single (Basically a stripped out carb)

Honestly the SPIs are pretty tempting because they're seen as being easier to work with or tune, almost to the point of the earlier HIF carb ones. But the MPI would certainly produce more power stock.

There isn't that much difference though really. I guess some variations have different suspension trumpets and even larger brakes. But desu other than the power you're not seeing much difference. Coopers from the 90s are nothing like they were in the 60s (Even if I own pic related) so they have much more in common with the regular trims.

Anyway, if you're looking at particular models minis tend to actually get more prone to rust as they get NEWER since as BL died out and Rover Group took over and resorted to shittier metal. Along with that I actually think the 1996 onward models may be slightly different bodies too... Which may make fitting a problem. Especially if you've got rot (Which mine had. Failed the MOT in January) But it's a mini, so those are about standard. Just make sure you can check beneath.

I mean, is there anything specific you're even looking for with them? Minis are badge-taxed to fuck to begin with, and Coopers even more so because it's the only name normies really recognise

Have fun having to replace your fuel pump soon for $600.
>>
Bitch please. I frequently run my skyline to the point where it fuel starves around sharp corners. I've gone a number of times where the car runs out of gas and dies as I'm rolling to the pump. I don't run it low because Im poor, it's just a game. I always carry a 2gal can of gas strapped in the trunk just in case I actually run out.

just imagine if they'd made it RWD

So. I'm looking for some advice about buying/leasing cars in Australia. I'm originally from the US, so I'm not really all that up on how that whole... process works here. Anyways, the backstory:

I'm interested in getting a car, pic is pretty much what I've got my eyes on. Here's the problem though. I have two kids, one of which has special needs. Because of that, I'm on a Carer's Payment through Centrelink. Now, even though I can budget and pennypinch enough to pay $600-700 a month towards a loan, I'm finding it literally impossible to get one! Because of how loans here work with Centrelink, they take what your pay is, and essentially compare that with a guesstimate of what they THINK your expenses should be. Centrelink + 2 dependants = so far I can't even get a TINY loan, let enough for anything I'd actually want to get.

I've briefly looked into leasing here, but all I can find is stuff about leasing through your employer, which if I could have an employer, this wouldn't even be an issue...

Alternatively... anyone know of any jobs that are EXTREMELY casual, very forgiving if you need to miss work because of family, AND still pay enough to be worth sacrificing at least some of my Centrelink pay for?

tl;dr How to get a 20-30k loan or lease for a car while on Centrelink or any suggestions for extremely understanding casual job?

Why do you want this car in particular? There are plenty of alternatives that are family friendly and are are more fuel efficient.

Honestly, if you want something that looks similar, look up Holden Commodore VE. Pic related. At least the interior will be more pleasant to look at. They go for around 7k used

Also, if you're on centrelink then you shouldn't even be thinking getting a 20-30k loan as possible.

Not even with a casual job would anyone give you such a high loan...
>>
>>17747867
Good fucking luck.
>>
>>17747887
Haha. That's pretty much what I've been thinking, but I may as well try anyways.

>>17747879
Well. DESU, I've always been poor. Poor in the US, part of the reason I moved here. Was doing well for a bit, making $25.50 an hour... and then I had kids, one of which has special needs. I'm a single father with two kids, one with special needs. Always been poor, never had anything nice. Kinda just wanted a decent car I don't have to spend $1,000s a year on upkeep like I'm doing now. The 300c is big, great for a faimly car, fast, I really like the interior desu, easy to upgrade, and the price/repayment on a loan is actually within what I could budget for unlike other cars in the same class, that is, if I could actually get a fuckin' loan.
