Is liftoff oversteer safe?
I have a fwd car that sometimes likes to oversteer instead of understeer. Normies like it, so i just dont give a shit when it happens and correct it easily (not quite sure how honestly).
Could it go wrong?

>Is taking a car beyond the limits of grip safe?

Gee I dunno, lemme think about that one for a while.

>Could it go wrong?

Of course it could, you absolute retard.

Im not saying dont do it. Not trying to talk you out of it. Your questions are just really fucking stupid. Getting the ass end out is fun, do it if you want to, but realize that yes there are risks and yes you could crash.
>>
>>16233850
Im talking slow corners, so it feels pretty safe. Will accelerating correct it? Since its fwd, the front wheels would push the car out of the oversteer into the correct position.
Noob talking here, so dont take anything i say as serious.
>>
>>16233866
Yeah, pointing the wheels in the direction you want to go and hitting the gas should pull you out of the slide with FWD.

Looking to buy this ultimate driving machine and wondering what to look out for, any advice?

It says it has 89,000 miles, is there any way I can verify this? The car has a few rust bubbles and the seats are a little worn, both of which are quite normal for a car of its age.

The MOT history says it had done 72,900 miles by September 2005, which means it has only done 17,000 miles in the last 11 years, this seems quite suspicious to me, but it is plausible it has been owned by an old guy I suppose. What is more worrying is that the last MOT lists the car has done 189,000 miles rather than 89,000 like the dealer says, I suspect there is a fuck up somewhere as it would mean the car had done 100,000 miles in less than two years.

Obviously I'm not expecting anything close to perfect for something so cheap, but I want it to last at least a year. Assuming the car has service history, what kind of work should I look for?

Thanks senpaitachi.

Shit's fucked m8.

Avoid like the plague. What's your budget and what are you looking for? Budget barges?

The interior looks a little too worn to have only done 89k, although that's just my opinion. I do think it's worth noting that all the other 5 series being sold at that price have 50k more miles than this one.

Could be a good deal, or something dodgy, you won;t know unless you go and have a look otherwise.
>>
>>16233755
Nvm after having another look I think the interior looks about right.

In Shmee's defence, he got a 675 LT Coupe which he got like 5k miles on, his 675 LT Spyder has 7k KM on it so far and still going. He put a few K Miles on his GT4 Cayman before selling it. His 12C and 650S Spider weren't garage queens.

His upcoming AMG GT R, Aston GT8 and Ford GT won't be sat around either.

>Deadmau5
He drives his cars as well

Quite famously a big car fan.

I wouldn't be surprised if Josh Cartu got one as well but he's keeping it VERY secret. He did get a LaFerrari Aperta recently while also owning a 458 Speciale and an F12 TDF

No go back to school Carl, you need an id card to drive if you get pulled over with no license have fun in juvie or jail and than not having a license fot years.
>>
No, you need a license first. If you get pulled over, saying "I don't have my license but I passed my test" isn't going to fly
>>
>>16232537
In the UK, that's perfectly legal. They can just radio your details back to HQ and find out if you're licensed or not.
Then take your car for lack of insurance.

It's a meme.

You want more weight over the front axle for maximum rotation potential.
>>

>grab a shopping cart
>grab a big bag of dog food or something similarly heavy
>put it as close to the back of the cart as possible
>round a corner with it

>make same corner

Weight distrubution isn't a meme

physics and simulation guy here

Sort of.

The maximum cornering potential is when the lateral forces are used 100%; which basically just boils down to the mass pushing you outwards matching the grip pulling you inwards.

Assuming no downforce, and a constant speed, a 50:50 weight distribution will work perfectly when you have the same fromt and rear tyre size and contact patch. This is just basic physics.

If you increase the rear grip from that state, the forces pulling you inward are behind the center of the car, while the force pushing you out are still at the center, hence you'll understeer. Center of grip is behind center of mass = understeer.

My 17 year old son recently got I to cars, and wanting to work on them. Right now he has a 2001 Lexus ES300. There is nothing wrong with it and nothing to work on. So we were thinking about getting a different car, one that we can work on and improve.
I want to keep insurance down, so no turbos. But it would be nice for him to have a fun car to drive.
Safety is a must. He wanted a CRX until realizing they would kill him.
Front or all wheel drive would be necessary, we live in the midwest.
He and I both prefer Japanese cars, me and the Mrs both have Subaru, so he's grown up liking them.
What's the best option here?
Pic semi unrelated (would be his dream car)

Why is this a thing? Is Australia somehow unique as a country when it comes to the auto industry and deserves their own general thread?
>>
>>16224387
It's a containment thread, though we're fairly unique as far as our car culture developed. No Euro displacement or emissions taxes, plenty of Jap crap to import, and our cheap used market isn't as mangled the American market after Obongo's cash for clunkers program. And up until recently we also had the Falcodores; the reason there are no "wat is gud rwd" posts here. A bit like the Crown Vic only lighter, sometimes quicker depending on trim, and no autismo undercover cop stigma. They're cheap and go sideways easy, and the used ones will last us another decade at least. Also utes.

We've got shit highway cops and the media loves to run stories about hoons and dangerous imports, but fuckall happens about it. A meet or two gets busted up by revenue raisers but life goes on.

>Form is nothing more than "this is your car and it's registered and insured "
>Call lawyer and ask him if there's anything I can do
>"Only if you have a good case, otherwise they're not exactly liable. Did you sign paperwork? "

Ended up taking them to small claims and held them accountable for the missing tools and the alignment. Was more a waste of time than anything, but it was a final fuck you.

According to a friend of mine the release form now includes a lot more than just whether or not the vehicle is legal.

All charges were dropped after having the pills tested.
