Thanks for being a tripfag so I can filter your stupid ass.
>>16228540
Initially I was just as skeptical as you (although I didn't have a stick up my ass)
After watching a gameplay video I am mildly anticipating it.

How does /o/ feel about Gymkhana?
Don't care.
>>16228051
I actively dislike it
>>16228051
Ken block is dumb
But i use to drive gymkhanawith my AW11 locally.
Its a lot of fun.
>removed negative cable on battery
>put it back on
>lights and radio turn on, but won't start
>detach negative cable again
>reattach it
>radio doesn't turn on, car won't start
What did I do? What do I do?
>>16228020
clean the battery terminal contacts.

this
also, a visual guide

WE HAVE A WINNER!
It actually started and ran. Must have been all the bits of corrosion that fell around the pole or something.
Thank you.
Hi, /g/ here.
I was driving on the road and it is hot as fuck, the tire blew and I had to do an emergency parking.
What is a probable reason for this? Also is it safe if I use the spare tire and continue?
that's what the spare tire is for broheim
pic unrelated, but interesting
What brand of tire?
>>16228017
You probably had it over-inflated.
Why are 2.0L engines preferred over 2.4/2.5L for performance applications?
>>16227773
balance, anything past 2.0 they usually just do 5 cylinders
>>16227776
Except Audi currently makes the ONLY 5 cylinder engine right now
>>16227776
>one off
How do you define what is and isn't a Grand Touerer?
Drive it and decide for myself
a rwd 2door sports car that you can comfortably drive across europe (i.e. go on a grand tour)
>>16227760
>Implying it has to be rwd
What makes the Escalade worth 100k?
I basically just see it as a more-beautifully dressed and stuff-added Tahoe.
Because that's what customers are willing to pay. Cadillac is more interested in you leasing so they can sell it again afterwards.
>>16227731
>I basically just see it as a more-beautifully dressed and stuff-added Tahoe.
thats it

So, tried to start my car today, a couple of days it ran fine but since this morning it seems to almost start, i turn the key to start it for 1-2 secs and it gets to 600rpm while normally it starts instantly, its a fiat from 2010. Did the recent cold kill my spark plugs/battery or should i just hold the key longer?
Pic not related, just a riced version of my car
>>16227648
>fiat
Found your problem
>>16227650
In the six years we've had it it has literally never not started tho
>>16227661
wow your car that was designed to last 10 years max shit itself after 6 that's pretty good
How much more dangerous is the Golf GTI than the standard model? Trying to persuade my Dad to allow me to buy a Mk2 GTI, but he only sees it as a more deadly version of an already old car. This is my first car, btw.
Its just a golf with better handling and a more powerful engine.
>>16227790
better handling means its safer.
Tbh you can drive a lamborgini with a stuck throttle on weightsaver tyres from one end of europe to another without any accidents.
It's all about the driver not the car. MR2 is regarded as a unsafe car only because idiots tend to not understand the car and enjoy crashes in it
Move the fuck out then you can buy whatever.
What are the benefits of downsized engines and direct injection?
None, all they were for was cheating EU emissions regulations. Now that is changing slightly larger engines are returning.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry/future-cars-will-get-bigger-engines-due-real-world-emissions-tests
Displacenent taxes if you live in a shit country
A 1.5L turbo doesn't actually get better economy than a 2.5L naturally aspirated engine though, don't kid yourself
>>16227583
Oh wow 1.2l to 1.5l. Big engines are really making a come back.
Why are these so expensive? Its a bare bones car.
used ones are cheap
economies of scale. Shits expencive unless you have the demand to go into mass production.
There is nothing about that fucking car that would be cheap to make. Ask for that promotion if you really want one
so what exactly would happen if you put a b18 vtec engine in pic related
will it go faster
>>16226852
yes, after the vtec kicks in it would definitely be faster
>>16226852
Definetely lighter so I'm expecting it to basically feel like a RWD FD Civic
>>16226852
Literally sage on all counts.
>decide to bang out 120k mile timing service myself over the weekend
>while everything's apart also decide to change out all the front seals / shit since it's easy to reach
>get first few seals out no problem, last cam seal is a struggle
>literally feels like someone welded it in there, everything's bouncing off this seal and it's not budging an inch
>after an hour of fucking with this one seal get impatient and just bludgeon it with a screwdriver
>mfw finally pull seal out and there's a scratch on the camshaft
fucking kill me /o/, this shit better not cause a huge fucking oil leak. why do idiots like me even try to do their own work on cars, should have ponied up the extra money and gone to a mechanic. can you guys please pray for me? I sanded and polished the scratch to make sure it didn't snag on anything, all that's left now is to put it back together and hope it doesn't start leaking.
times you fucked up while wrenching thread?
>>16226797
>scratched cam shaft
>makes scratch worse by sanding and polishing it
Seriously how stupid are you?
Cam shafts don't cause oil leaks either.
Lrn 2 car
>>16226817
The cam's covered by a seal, if the scratch snags the seal then the seal will fuck up and start leaking. I didn't literally sand down the scratch to nothing, just hit it with some extra fine paper to make sure it didn't catch.
>>16226839
I think you're over reacting dude. Like forreal
hey aut/o/, (somewhat) new guy here, i want to get more into cars and eventually get a replacement for my 1999 malibu daily driver that's something fun i can work on. so i'm here to ask you guys where you learned your car terminology, techniques, etc. My uncle's a mechanic but we rarely have time to hang out and i'm sure he doesn't want to bother talking about his work while he's off the clock. Also I'm in college, so I might look around and see if there's any auto beginner classes I can take. none of my current friends are into cars and I highly doubt I'd be able to make any gearhead friends if I don't have anything special myself.
i've learned some things i've picked up from watching shows like initial d, playing some games, and attempting to work on my own car, but the specifics still look foreign to me. (i.e. words like twin-cam, exhaust headers, intake manifolds, high compression pistons, coilovers, etc.)
any info helps, i'd love to hear your stories. thnx guise
Miata.
Put supercharger.
>>16226791
i like miatas, but I don't think it'd be reasonable to have a 2 seater car right now. while it'd be nice to never have to drive my friends around again, I need the space.
I really like 240s. I know they're hard to come by (in good condition), but there's just something about them I can't get over. If miatas had 2 more backseats they'd be perfect.
>>16226785
Start by learning about your own car. Look up specifics. Learn your engine transmission suspension. Then if something goes wrong you can fix it.
You drive one of the most unreliable cars on planet earth. If it hasn't given you problems now it will.
just got this guy for $8700 due to a salesman fuck up
tell me i did good /0/
