Just bought a Audi S8, planning on upgrading its ECU so it has around 700hp.
How did I do?

I've loved cars ever since I was a kid. Maybe it's because of the autism or something, but I can recite from memory every single spec about cars and shit, but I have no clue how to actually wrench on them. Because my biggest issue is space, living in a high rise, what's the best way for me to learn how to wrench on a car short of actually doing it on one? I have a Volvo S90 on a lease and can't obviously work on that, and purchasing space to buy a beater to work on isn't possible at this time. I don't know if I want to take the mechanic certification classes and shit, but is there any good YouTube or other online resources that you'd suggest? I'm sperg enough to know what shit in a car does, but not how, and not how to repair it. Thanks.
If you're in school or generally just in a position where you can take the SAE courses I would recommend them, they will give very good information, although it is a time and money investment.
>>16229405
Thanks for your reply. What are the SAE courses? Googling it gave me some shitty Brexit music production courses. I'd love to take courses but I don't have time. My boss buttrapes me from 6AM to 8PM or so every day, and I barely get 1 day off a month, so I wanted something more passive if that's possible.
>>16229441
Bro, handle your workflow. What your boss is doing is probably illegal.
With that out of the way, I think the previous poster meant ASE certification. Further, please don't just be a sperg, just go to classes and try to be functional.
Roast me please.

How do you as a presumably;y early 20's male justify buying a compact sports car when you have kids around the corner?
I would love to get one of my dream cars and being successful in my career this is genuinely an option now. but it's very hard to justify when your Gf/wife and future children come in to the equation.

>Having kids in your early 20s meme
I hate when family members/society pressure you into having a family when you yourself is still trying to get your own life in order and surviving as an adult
Get a wife that lets you live your life. It's your fault if you let her tell you what to do.

There is an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot. It's a 2008 Mitsubishi lancer 4 door sedan. I'm trying to get under the hood but I guess someone already tried and broke the cable in the interior. How do I get under the hood with a broker cable? I potential want to claim the car if its salvagable
>>16228846
Fuck claiming anything. Just part the car out and keep the money. Then walk away when all the good parts are gone.
>>16228857
I need a car though, I don't have a car. What your saying is smart. But I'm willing to go through the trouble of getting this car up to use daily then scrap it for parts and find a car to buy. It looks like a good car just needs a jump to start and get the pink slip/keys from the dealer. The guy left all the paperwork except the pink slip in the trunk

idk wtf this thread is about, but I like it.
If low-profile tires are supposed to make your car faster, why are none of the tires in Formula 1/Nascar/Drag Racing low-profile tires?
Because low-profile tires don't necessarily make you faster. It's mainly about aesthetics.

How do you make a Boxster better looking?
Not like "stancing" it or whatever but making it look more aggressive.
Sell it and purchase a MR2.

Hey /o/,
I have my heart absolutely set on an RX-8 and have for years, so this thread isn't about convincing me otherwise.
I have finally gotten in a financial position where an 8 makes sense, but I'm only willing to pay $5-6k for one (burger here).
I cannot for the life of me find one in this price range, and if I do the owner literally never wants to commit to a compression test ($175 at my local Mazda dealer).
There are so many delusional listings for 8's with 150k+ miles for $8-9k. This didn't seem the case even over last summer when I would hawk listings.
Is the 8 just getting way more popular or am I having bad luck? Do you guys usually go with Craigslist to find for-sale-by-owner cars or is there some other method I'm missing?
Thanks /o/
>>16229434
honestly if you really like the rx-8 you should just save up more and get a nice low mileage R3 model
it'll probably save you from a lot of headaches
