How much does /o/ pay for insurance?
First time on insurance here.. And getting fucking raped for my civic at 350...wish I was joking. Absolutely disgusting that this shit is mandatory.

I'm not the only one that loves retro economy cars, am I?
>>16249419
that's not retro. It's vintage. Retro is new things designed to look old. pt cruiser, hhr, thunderbird, ford gt, etc...
>>16249419
I had one of those civics with the 1.3L
Was a trooper. Hauled engines in the back of it.

Hey plebs, I've never driven a petrol car before and I'm wondering roughly what RPM they should sit at while cruising in top gear at 70mph?
I appreciate this varies wildly as a result of gearing, aerodynamics, wheel size etc. but I'm going to buy a petrol car with a 4 speed automatic, and having only owned 6 speed manual diesels I'm slightly concerned it will scream while cruising. My current car sits at exactly 2000rpm at 70mph and it's pretty great for cruising as the turbo comes on at 1800rpm so you can overtake without dropping gears and it's extremely fuel efficient.
I looked up the gear ratios on the car I'm looking to buy and in theory it has a higher top gear than any car I've ever owned, but obviously this doesn't say much as a petrol revs way higher than a diesel.
What's an acceptable cruising RPM in your opinion?
Thanks to be quite honest and fair.
>>/qtddtot/
>>16249399
Around 6k, 8k if uphill or against wind and should try to rev up to 10k before even trying to overtake anyone
It depends entirely on gearing and engine size. A Honda with a 4-speed auto might be doing 3500+ RPM at 70mph while a Crown Victoria with the 4R70 slushbox would be doing 1800 or less.
So my car lives outside and I hate myself for it. Anyone else have a cat that lives outside. I can't keep it clean for more than like 2 days.
Pic related dirty as fuck and pissing me off.
>>16249347
You might need a new cat. Cats are supposed to clean themselves. But then again you should be keeping your cat inside.

i have a 2013 honda fit. i got it cause i wanted a small honda with a hatchback. and back in 2013 they didnt have the new civics. but. i checked out those new civic hatchbacks theyre making and.. theyre pretty nice
i still have 6 more months of payments on it. the car has just over 50k miles on it and ive had no problems at all with it. the new civic is just nicer and the parts are easier to get. slightly better gas mileage and a little more power
should i trade in or sell my 2013 fit to get a civic hatchback with maybe 10k miles on it next summer? or just drive my fit basically into the ground and get a slightly used car maybe 5 years from now
>>16248598
No. You financed a car. Why would you immediately jump back into payments? Especially for a shitty new civic. Keep the fit a few more years at least and then get a used luxury car.
>>16248838
why would i buy a luxury car. im not some balding middle aged man in the middle of a mid life crisis. these new civics are nice.. i checked out out the other day
although keeping the fit for another couple of years and then getting something like an accord does sound appealing
>>16248844
Because they're better engineered. have a proper FR layout, and have cooled seats and panoramic roofs that you can't get on an accord or civic.
Tell me /o/...
Do you heel and toe?
>>16248079
Nope.
I drive barefoot and use my big toe for the gas.
only if you dont know how to properly drive.
>>16248079
sometimes I do, however not like pictured because my pedal setup wont work like that.
I do the foot roll since my pedals are so close together. i hardly ever drive fast enough on my way home from work to need to brake and downshift at the same time.
What are your achievable dream cars /o/?

If your going to be regularly towing 5k get a 1/2 ton, skip the babby trucks

Don't. It isn't any better.

555-come-on-now.
>>16217440
It's not that simple.
The jobs are being devalued more and more as time goes by. You can live in the cuckshed with dreams of buying your own truck but you still can never have a normal home life. Or you can do local and bust your ass for 10 years and try to get a nice local gig but those are getting more scarce uhless you play the corporate game perfectly and even then the money isn't nearly as good as it should be for somebody with years of experience in the trade.
There are so many shitty drivers in the industry now that they actually devalue the good ones.

Ok, /o/, explain to me what the purpose of rev match downshifting is when you can just release the clutch a little slower and the synchromesh does it for you?
>>16251186
Go dive into a corner at Hugh speed and quickly downshift without revmatching and just releasing the clutch
You will shock the drive train and spin out and crash and aND die
>>16251199
why would i dive into a corner at high speed?
i'm just talking about casual driving. not hitting mt. akina.
>>16251186
Because you can spend less time setting up for the corner than your way. On the street, sure you can do that. Some racecars don't have syncros, so you actually have to double clutch them on the way down.
APOLOGIZE!!!!!
