> after winter, want to sell my 02 subaru legacy L wagon for a Nissan 240sx

> my fucking face when
These are 20+ year old 4 cylinder cars, and people are pricing them more than a car you could buy newer cars. For fucks sake, man.
ITT: post cars that have bad used prices.
>why is an unwanted car worth less than a sought after car
>>16249343
And to top it off... they are massive piles of unreliable shit
>>16249343
On top of that all the maneul ones are riced to fuck with swaps and shit already done. I'll be damned if I buy someone elses handiwork.
Which automaker makes the most non-car stuff?
Mitsubishi I think
>>16246537
Mitsubishi. They make anything from televisions, to fridges, to pencils, to air conditions, to microwaves
What kind of Mitsubishi is this?
its an eclipse. Queue the 1000 faggots that think they're funny giving absurd answers.
>>16250731
Eclipse. 02-03 model. 4cyl package, probably auto.

Manletmobile
>non-mechanical steering wheel
>can't feel it rolling back to the middle after a corner
hydraulic are fucking shit
Increase your caster m8, my wheel centers immediately even with power steering
Some cars are designed with fucked caster geometry that can't be adjusted. eg 2011-2014 Subaru Outbacks. They don't self-center well, and the later wobble fix robbed all feel from the front.
I fucking hate mine and want to get rid of it, even after backing off the friction adjuster.
>Ford Focus steering
>[wobble intensifies]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_-j4HyFbz4 no one can beat this
Half the video is a fucking Pennzoil commercial
Go spam your shit elsewhere.
>>16249708
UM... You stole hundreds of millions, got away with it . But you're still doing crazy car shit that could get you killed?
I should just buy one of these. They're about 1000-2000€ for a decent one as far as my research tells me. Also they apparently aren't horrendously unreliable according to owners. But parts are super expensive.
>>16249579
>Also they apparently aren't horrendously unreliable according to owners.
I wouldn't trust owners of Alfas.
They're usually incredibly deluded and living far from reality.
Ask people who fell into the trap and bought one because they can be had for cheap and sold the car again.
>>16249584
Hmm, you're probably right. But for 1000 to 2000€ I'm seriously considering just buying one and driving it until it falls apart or getting a second one for parts. It's just so tempting!
You can get a 3.2l with all the options for so cheap! Also dat interior
3/4 of the car could be a very early 2010 car.
Hi /o/, /k/tard here. My beloved '05 Envoy got rear-ended a couple weeks ago, and the collision shop said they can't replace the spare tire holder because it's bent and they can't remove it. Does this sound legit? If I wanted to repair it myself, how bad of a repair would it be and how much would it cost?
>>16249575
it's a flat piece of sheet metal with a circle stamped into it. It's probably not available separately from the whole floor pan. You'd have to cut out the rear section from a good car and weld it in. kinda ghetto. Seems like they'd total something that old.
What kind of collision shop can't fix collision damage?
>>16249698
It was such minimal damage. It totaled up to like $2000.
Got a what I hope is a quick fix but 0 good options.
Might as well make it a home mechanic general so it's a tad more useful of a thread
>Have 05 Ford Explorer
>Several month drought finally ends and it's raining almost every day now
>Turns out I have a leak in the back, am 99% sure it's from the gasket around the window on the hatch because it looks to be in bad shape
>Also the back applique cracked as they are apparently prone to do, but I don't think it's the cause of the leak
>Want to get this fixed fairly quickly, since when it rains it leaves standing water in rear end
Option 1: Get a OEM gasket
Problem: None of the local Ford dealerships or body shops have it, and they all say they'd have to backorder it.
Option 2: Go to an auto scrapyard and try to find an similar Explorer and yank its gasket
Problem: Have to hope it's in 1 piece, and given what I'm looking for I'm expecting it to be just as bad, if not worse than the 1 I have
Option 3: Apparently the hatch on this year model is interchangeable with slightly newer ones (Gen 3 and Gen 4 allegedly have the same mounting, size, etc). Would also solve cracked panel and prevent it happening again
Problem: Not 100% sure it is that easy, will probably cost more
Option 4: Bitch on 4chan in proximity of people who know what they're doing and hope for the best
Problem: :^)
Any thoughts/suggestions?
>>16249425
Do 3, then 4
dry that shit out and hop in your trunk.
Have a buddy outside water the suspected leaking areas and go from there. No point in replacing random ass parts and finding out that they're not the cause of the issue.
Also if its weather stripping that's just flat and not torn, try bringing that shit back to life with Vaseline.
>>16249425
here you go dumbass. it was a simple google search away.

Every single mechanic Yelp page reads like this:
>a dozen 5-star reviews
>one or two 1-star reviews where the mechanic somehow manages to crack the engine block during an oil change or destroy the transmission while topping off their wiper fluid
Why?
>>16249396
Because they didn't REV UP THEIR ENGINES
>>16249417
SCCREEEEEEEEEECH
>>16249396
Because the 1 star reviewers are retards who don't know how to take care of their car.
They say that the mechanic fucked up their tranny while topping off washer fluid but in reality they'd be doing neutral drops or driving hard and braking hard from stop light to stop light and overall abusing their car.
You know exactly the type of person I'm talking about.
I consider those reviews outliers, unless the one star has a legitimate reason for rating it that.
any toughts?
>>16249356
I like baikus. I'm not sure what else you want.
is that some kind of chink busa copy?
A little weak on the bottom end, and the riding position is a bit stretched for such a top-heavy porker of a bike.
Wind it out and it flies.
Specifically late-models, I was looking into them a bit but I only ever see bad things said about them here. C6s aren't bad price-wise, is it just because they're unwanted?
>getting your automotive opinions from /o/
May as well just watch TopGear
>>16249337
I was more hoping to see if there were legitimate complaints or if it was just entirely shitposting. I don't have a positive or negative opinion of the cars yet aside from aesthetics.
I never owned one, but I can tell you they are insanely fun to drive, almost drug like euphoria when you slam the gas. The clutch is a real dick hardener.
Has anyone had any differential gear swaps done in the chicago area? Any shops reputable in thisthat you'd recommend?
I am going from a rear end 2.73 to 3.73 swap, maybe some people can chime in if I made a mistake of not going 4.10 for my 2013 lol6 autotragic pigstang.
>>16249153
meh, 2013 V6's made what? Like 300 HP? Thats not terrible tbqh.
And the jump from 2.73 to 3.73 is already a fair bit. 4.10's are good as long as you dont cruise @ like 80 MPH, otherwise the RPMs might be a bit high
I don't know anything about chi-town being Canadian, Might be helpful to go to local forums or just go to a well reviewed transmission shop.
Do you do a lot of highway driving? If so, whats your RPM in top gear at highway cruising speed. I think it'll be 36% higher or some shit with the 3.73's. 4.10's will basically DOUBLE your revs at the same speed for DAT ACCELERATION.
pic unrelated
>>16249284
It'd be roughly 50% higher, double would be 5.46s.
i have drivers license test tomorrow
any advice ?
Yeah, tell the examiner "Sit down, shut up, and hold on"
Then laugh and tell him, "Just kidding. Buckle up." It will lighten the mood.
>>16249047
Relax, do what you normally do. Keep your eyes open and your head on a swivel.
Eat well, don't eat too much. Helps you stay calm.
If you think you've blown it, just keep on driving normally instead of giving up. I ran a yellow light and thought it's already over, but in the end, I still passed.
>The invisible car
Do we have the technology?
>>16249035
lol never OP
Don't we already have invisible cars? That's the only way I can explain why someone would open a door and hit the car next to them
people sure act like I'm invisible when I'm on my bike
So I actually was trying to buy a 718 Cayman which is at 60k but right now I have little over 40k and I can see a lot of 911 Carreras(including 4S models) for under 45k which is of years from 2005 - 2008.
I've always loved 911s but I always thought of buying them once I get older but I don't think so I'll ever buy one when I get older as I may have kids, other expenses ,sent them to college, etc.
Should I instead buy a 911 now? I'm really tempted too!
This particular one in the pic is a 2006 911 Carrera 4S Convertible that looks very clean and I may call the seller right now.
>>16248985
The car's at 15k miles and the posting says he hasn't driven much and he's the first owner.
>4 cylinder
>In a $75K Porsche
>$2.50 gasoline
Yeah, I know it's technically faster. But it's a fucking Porsche and turbos suck other than 0-60 memes.
Find a nice leftover 2015 H6 for $10K less.
