Between the Golf 3 and 4,which one is an all round better car?
Golf 2
>>16635525
I know that 2 is the best but they're getting hard to find, I'm curious between 3 and 4 in particular
>>16635525
this
is there a correlation between the car's brand and how the owner drives?
Probably just the Placebo Effect
not really
however, certain brands attract certain people
for example you can safely assume that a guy in bmw/audi will be an overconfident retard disregarding road rules
meanwhile toyota drivers are usually a complete opposite, to the point it gets fucking annoying how they drive in grandma style
on the other side of the coin you have brands like mazda which are usually the best drivers on the road, with the exception of kids in their broken down miatas, these faggots are no better than bmw drivers
and no, i don't drive mazda, i drive volvo which has similar client base to the toyota
It's guaranteed that if you see a Skyline in Victoria, it's being driver by either an Asian or a Wog between the ages of 18-25.
a G class AMG63, BMW x6m or an other SUV with that range of cost

>tray sliding on the back roads like a maniac
Hey all. I know this might seem like a question that seems kind of, I dunno, weird in a sense. I am a car guy, (Going to auto tech school) but I don't frequent this board at all. Have occasionally lurked over the years. My Question doesn't deal with cars, though, it deals more with the law.
How easy is it to fight a speeding ticket when I know I wasn't speeding? I'll try to make this as short as possible.
>Road is 35 drops to 30
>I never speed down that road because I know that there's usually a cop in one certain spot, but I haven't seen any parked in that specific spot in a long time.
> I have a radar detector, it never went off, even when I got pulled over.(I know they have radar guns that don't set off detectors)
> Ticket date was 12/12, first court date was 1/20, postponed it to 2/17
>When I got pulled over, cop said "You know, you were going like 45 back there?" I said no. Takes my license and insurance, comes back with the ticket.
>Ticket says 50 in a 35
>mfw
I'm thinking of asking for radar proof. I've never gotten a speeding ticket before. I'm pretty sure he was singling me out just because I drive a lowered (not slammed, before I get any hate, I actually like my cars just tastefully lowered) VW, or he was trying to fill quota.
State is IL, btw.
How will that go?
Also, before anyone says anything, i didn't give the cop a hard time. Almost every time I've ever gotten pulled over, I've gotten thanks from them for being polite and stopping.
All other tickets I've ever gotten dismissed.
>Loud exhaust - Showed receipt that I fixed it
>Didn't have the right insurance on me at the time - showed up to court with proof I had insurance at time of receiving ticket
>Obstructed view - dismissed with proof
Never gotten a speeding ticket, though, and I really don't need a first one, because it can really make or break my future career in the industry.
Thanks in advance to anyone that answers helpfully.
Will a bump work?

Get drunk before you drive.
This is why i sold all my sports cars.
Fuck all that insanity. Last time i went to the city, an ass hole in a bmw totalled my perfect condition AW11.

Is weathertech worth the price?
$200+ for floor mats is a lot.
>>16633382
Husky liners are WAY better and sometimes even half the price
>>16633382
Only if you're retarded and don't know how to hold drinks, or if you're coming in and out of your car with muddy shoes
>>16633388
What makes them better?
My last car came with weathertech and they were nice. I just bought a new car and when I went to look up the price it was a little too much. I wanted to get the trunk too but that's another $150 bucks.

People in the North,
I'll be moving to the North in the Fall, most likely to Cambridge, MA. Anyone have car owning experience here? I'm moving from the south where I never deal with snow and I'm hesitant to bring my car to the city where I will pay an arm and a leg to park and register the vehicle.
Not only that, parking is a bitch to find and street parking can easily damage the vehicle and I'm sure to get rust damage eventually.
What do you guys recommend? Any personal stories from a similar situation?
Nice IS.
My gut recommendation is any kind of Subaru that isn't the BRZ.
>>16633271
I went to school in back bay and had a car in Boston for 5 years.
It fucking sucks. Cambridge in particular is a parking nightmare. I used to live in lower Allston and had several evenings where I'd get off of work at 11 and spend an hour circling my block looking for a spot.
If you want your car available look farther away than Cambridge, as you might have luck finding a place with a driveway. I eventually ended up south on the edge of JP and was fortunate enough to get just that.
Regarding the snow: yeah it sucks, but it's not that bad. They are quick to clean the roads compared to down here (I am in VA), and worst case there is decent public transportation.
One of the things I always liked about driving with massholes is that everybody goes fast, but they actually cooperate on the road.
I definitely don't miss trying to cross the BU bridge or get through kenmore square during rush hour.
>>16633271
Well, I literally live in Cambridge so I could fill you in on some things
As far as the whole city driving meme goes, having a card is definitely worth it if you can afford it. Plenty of stores have parking so it's actually practical to take your car out for the day and do some shopping.
Parking is a bitch. I have a garage so it's easy for me. I have street parking too but I never use it because apparently it's commonplace to "get your bumper fucked up from parking in the street"
Snow, salt, rust, etc... will all fuck it up and your problems will be further compounded by the meme snow plow/street cleaning laws/parking bans
But, you can find parking if you need it.
I ride my motorcycle so it doesn't even matter.
I have been lusting after one of these as a project car lately, am I mentally retarded?
Except for the odd one that is modified they're super cheap and as a project it would be no skin off my nose to keep it off the road while I do an engine rebuild since most of them are up past the 200 000km mark.
>>16633249
Buy one they are so fun to tinker with. I love me some ef civics
Do it, I love those little Civics but 99% of them are trashed near me.
