What would be the most cost efficient car for uber?
I'm thinking of something good on fuel and cheap to begin with like a Hyundai i30 but there's probably something I haven't thought of.
2010 focus
Same platform since the 90s, dirt cheap, 40+mpg
ek3 civic with the vtec-e.

Australia here,
What's a good car for road tripping around the U.S?
Under 8k, prefer under 6k
And something American preferably old and/or convertible
Like this
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/6071801623.html
You want to spend that much for scrap?
At least buy something you could sell at the end of your trip and get some money back.
Convertible SN95 GT or maybe even a foxbody would do you good
I'm planning on eventually selling it and heading to South America
Hi /o/,
What's everyone's opinion on a CPO 3-series, 2014-2016? I'm buying my first car since moving from a major city (NY) and have around $35k to spend. I'm well aware I can purchase a new Honda/whatever for this price; but I'm also seeing cheap CPO 3-Series BMW's with xdrive, less than 40k miles where I'm going to be. The model years range from 2014-2016.
I can't see any reason to purchase a new car when I can have a gently used BMW. Or am I wrong?
>>16946220
My parents bought one, albeit a 2014 318d in Ireland so entirely different to your context.
I would just advise you to be aware of upkeep and maintenance costs, because the car isn't worth shit without extra money to keep it alive.
>>16946220
No you're not wrong but get a 4 series instead.
435 preferably, it's right in your price range.
>>16946250
There is no upkeep/maintenance with a certified pre owned BMW. I got 4 years of complimentary maintenance with mine. All servicing, fluids, etc was free. Even a $4,000 brake job was included.
Now that Brexit is well underway, when will you bongs make the decision to return to imperial system. Also should the Commonwealth follow if you do.
Why the fuck would they switch
I hate the mini dash so goddamn much

They no longer would be obligated by the EU to use metric measurements. Thats what the whole common market deal with the EU made them do, but now that they're calling a quits, may as well go back to what made England well England.
What does /o/ think of the volvo c30? specifically 2007-2010? Looking for a safe, fun, economical hatchback, can you suggest any alternatives?
>>16946072
I think it's s beautiful car but I wish that it had 4 doors on the sides. Because of this, I suggest the Volkswagen Golf GTI or the Mazda3 Hatchback.
Good luck.
OP here, safety is a pretty significant factor since I'm an EMT and can't stop obsessively worrying about the horrific shit i've seen
It's a Mazda3 in a Swedish suit and with half the doors. The T5 has that based 5-cylinder, but that's about it. Mazdaspeed3 may be a good alternative, but I hear it's got a ton of torque steer.
whats a good way to get back at a mechanic taking nearly 6 weeks to rebuild a gearbox? im thinking along the lines of egging but i want it to take them weeks to clean up.
>>16945797
Kill yourself in their office
you could kill yourself. that would show him.
>>16945797
End your life in their main office with a shotgun. Would take weeks to get all of it out...
Mechanics, dealers, transporters, etc. Share your insights and funny stories, if you have any.
>just got job as valet to earn a little extra cash
>work at fairly upscale hotel
>realize that any desire to own a luxury car is gone because they really aren't that fun to drive, and the leather seats in BMW/Mercedes/Audi aren't that much better than the ones in an upscale Civic
>learn to hate Infiniti and Acura for having various retardations in the layout
>REALLY hate the stupid gearshift on the newer BMW's; yeah it's just a button but I'm in a hurry and it's one more thing to screw with
>realize anything that any Mercedes that isn't an AMG is pretty boring to drive
>literally most fun car to move was a late 60's Porsche
>newer Porsche had an automatic and flappy paddles
>realize now that supercars with flappy paddles are really just the same thing and probably not that fun to drive anyways
>idiot coworker leaves window down on McClaren 675 right before a surprise morning rain
>it's not the best job but fuck getting tip money nightly is pretty decent.
Someone probably has something to say about valets, so I'll just go ahead and say it.
Yes, we drive the cars fast. Even at an upscale joint, most of them are rentals anyways so nobody gives a fuck (for anyone wondering, Hyundai's are the rentals we get the most). When it's something halfway fun to drive, we drive it nice and slow while the person is still in earshot. As soon as they're inside or we're on the street, we'll drive it like we do everything else.
There's a few morons who like to drive fast in the garage, but the bosses don't care unless we do it in front of a customer or someone who actually has ranking in the hotel. As long as we don't actually crash the cars, they could care less.
If you give us the keys to a "cool" car (ie, Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lambo, etc), we're actually not allowed to park in the garage and have to park out front where everyone can see it. Also so we don't get blamed for bullshit that's already on the car, which we get blamed for. If the top's down when we get it and you don't show us HOW to take it down, we're not going to bother because most likely we're balls deep in people trying to get their cars parked, so we'll put it in the garage and forget about it.
Uber drivers and cabbies are complete cunts. We only have so much space to put cars, and when they park halfway down the narrow ass drive to pick someone up it fucks us up. Cabbies are the worst because they'll take their sweet time. Surprisingly, the shuttle drivers from the airport are actually really decent.

>I hate people knowing that I can work on cars
>Try to tell extended family that I can't fix their cars because I don't have manufacturer specific special tools
>Get suckered into doing jobs for immediate family which isn't that bad, but obviously can't charge them full price
>And can not do the job, because them I am a dick
>Also the stingy jew in me doesn't want them to pay more elsewhere when I can take the money.
Anyways...
>Dad is horrible at maintaining cars
>Slave cylinder goes out
>Have to drop the tranny to get it out
>Didn't order a flywheel and didn't have time to get it worked because it was during a holiday and dad needed a car to work.
>Don't change the clutch
>6 months later, clutch is slipping...
Not to mention it leaks coolant, and has been ran dry for who knows how long. o2 sensor is out. I rather we just get rid of this POS with a new one, but dad wants me to fix it...
Fuuuu.....
Just a sorta-related aside. Did we ever get those stories LPG promised for christmas? Because now would be a perfect time for them.

It's thy time to have a good old thread about the finest German trio! Do you own a VW, an Audi or a Porsche? Do you have any questions or plans to own one in the near future? Do you have a Ferdinand Porsche shrine hidden away in your closet? If so, post it all here!
>>16945115
VW owners are too busy vaping
Audi drivers are too busy working to pay off their cars thats in the shop
Porsche owners are just busy working.
