Disclaimer, I don't speak Japanese so everything I watch is subbed. I also don't think Tomino's writing is as bad as people make it out to be.

That said, I don't like the use of flowery sentence structure and grammar. He could choose to write something a very simple way, but chooses a weird roundabout way to express the same idea without adding much.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's bait, but gundam.png is actually Macross.

The only Tomino show I've watched that didn't consistently manage to bore me is Zambot 3.

I haven't even touched the main mode yet, I've been just playing the free battle mode enjoying being able to read the menus and button combination guides

Single player only.
And it has only a fraction of Extreme's roster, the gameplay is noticeably clunkier, there's fewer weapons because they cut a button combo and no bursts.
Also it's digital only, but it's still one more faint hope that Bamco will give the US another chance but probably not

Lightsabers. Giant robots shooting laser guns with beam swords is an acceptable break from reality, but explaining beam sabers as "minovsky particles enclosed in a looping i-field" and then show weird and wacky shapes for that i-field tends to break that immersion for me.

What gives a beam saber its colors, anyway?

It took a while to get good subs back when the original version aired as well. I remember translating and releasing the first two episodes myself, based on the manga scanlations (which was an easy enough translation since the dialog was 1:1), and IIRC it took like two weeks till a proper group picked it up.
